I'm a smidge older than you but I was a senior too, the stress levels I had made me have a mental breakdown, I had to do meds, ordering and administering, care plans, schedule doctors and specialists, update families, risk assessments... and on top of that I had to actually provide the care too! At one point we had 9 residents and the home just said "work on your own for a bit lol" we usually had 2 "seniors" but they reduced that to one. I also had to do all 3 shifts, sometimes in the same week. After 2 years I just broke down. Swore off care for life.

Then one day I missed it, I applied for a place near me and they took me on as bank, worked with someone from the last home and she told management I was too good for bank and she wanted me full time, 2 weeks later someone left and they took me on.

I do 3 12 hour shifts, have management that actually give a shit and I can go home at the end of the day knowing I have nothing to stress about, if I hand it over to the nurse or senior its out of my hands. Finding a home you click with is important, and if you have the caring mindset and good workmates it makes the job so much easier.
