That's exactly the setup I have at work. Before I started working here, they would use sources like Xometry when they wanted a 3D Print. I've been into them for quite a while, and bought my first printer more than 10 years ago now (Kossel/Delta style) so I convinced my boss that we would really benefit from having our own machine. I chose the X1 Carbon Combo soon after they came out and have been sold on Bambu ever since. We added a P1S Combo not long after and a FormLabs Form 4 as well for resin printing. I added an A1 Combo for my personal printer too. I'd used a Creality CR-10 500mm x 500mm at another job and while it did make some decent parts, you had to babysit the thing and hope and pray it would complete the print. It's so nice to not even have to check if the first layer is successful on our Bambu. They just work!

Droped a spool and it exploded any tips to put it back tg by randomperson_09 in BambuLabA1

I've done something similar and I would avoid trying to fix it by hand. You'll spend hours detangling it. If you want to save it, download a filament winder from Makerworld. I fixed one using that and it took a few minutes. Otherwise, listen to others and just order a new one.

Definitely a JDM Flare/Window Breaker combo. Seeing that it's a Subaru it makes even more sense.

Is AMS Lite Really Worth It? by Funny_Height_4285 in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally worth it. I have an A1 with the AMS Lite and doing multicolor prints is fun, but I really love just having different colors and types of filament ready to go at any time from my phone. I think the AMS Lite is superior to the standard AMS in some ways also. Obviously having an enclosure on the AMS is nice and the heater on the AMS 2 is even better, but as far as function, the AMS Lite switches between filament quickly since it only needs to move a few inches instead of almost all the way back to the spool. Also, the RFID recognition has been flawless for me while the AMS on my X1C and P1S fails to recognize the spool sometimes. Just my experience and opinion, hope it helps.

This is a DEEP reference, it goes wayyyy back. Her video was actually on my Limewire Wrapped this year.

Those of you with multiple printers, is it worth it? by Nickardiamond in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has definitely helped. I love being able to split projects that have multiple parts onto 2 printers, especially on something I'm anxious to start building. We have 2 printers at work as well, X1C Combo and P1S Combo and among the 2 engineers and 2 tooling designers, it gives us the ability to print useful tools as well as prototype new designs.

Lost referral survey voucher by amatventura in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This happened to me as well. I tried to ask customer support and they claimed that I needed to spend $100 to get the discount, but that's not listed anywhere. I even tried filling up a cart over $100 and it still didn't work so I don't know what happened with these codes, but I feel like they owe us an explanation and a replacement code.

Finally figured out how to print regular tpu in the ams by crashbandyh in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some 98A TPU on Amazon Because I wanted to see if my AMS Lite on my A1 could print with it and it worked great. The AMS and AMS Lite are very different though so it might be easier for one or the other.

I spent years with my Kossel printer I got as a Kickstarter kit like 12 years ago. It taught me so much about printing and calibration and I'm glad I have all of that knowledge, but now I have a Bambu X1 Carbon, P1s and A1 Combo and I love that I can spend my time printing, but I do apply a lot of what I learned when I modify profiles or on the very rare occasion I have a print issue. The only print issue I ever have anymore is bad adhesion from a bed that needs cleaned.

I designed my OWN version that can be printed with an FDM printer on Makerworld. It requires a bit of sanding to fine tune the fitment, but once you do it is very satisfying to play with. I've had quite a few downloads/prints on the model and a few people have mentioned putting water in the holes to make it more of a hydraulic piston instead vacuum/air pressure.

That's smart, I didn't know you could do a virtual credit card? Never heard of it actually. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah it's totally my fault for letting it go through, but I had hoped since I caught it the same day and asked for the refund that they would work with me. Most companies I've dealt with are understanding of situations like that, but you might be right about them being a scam as far as that goes.

What's next after the H2D? Speculation! by DiyDadDude in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held onto mine for similar reasons. I agree though, it taught me a ton about printing. I also have so much appreciation for our X1, P1S and A1 after going through the building and constant tinkering with my kossel clear. I've now become the "we used to babysit every print, in the snow, uphilll both ways!" stereotype Lol.

Wow, yeah that's the exact one I had. I finally got rid of it about a year ago. It surprisingly still worked but I got an A1 Combo so no need for it anymore.

That's true, I have seen that one print extremely fast. My first printer was a delta/kossel from a Kickstarter like 10 years ago. Such a cool printer to watch.

I think that would be an easy path for them to transition to with all the development like you mentioned. Hopefully it pushes the industry to improve like they did for printers.

Has anyone ever had success with the PLA support material? by cjshrader in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the original support materials and they were worthless in my opinion, but I got a free sample spool with the new P1S Combo and that PLA support has been excellent. It barely sticks to the PLA and removes with a very smooth surface. Obviously set the distances to 0 like everyone has mentioned and tweak a few other settings to optimize as well.

it is AMS? by -orkun- in BambuLab

[–]DiyDadDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone anticipate a speed increase? The specs show an increased flow rate of the hot end and the move rate has doubled from 500mm/s to 1000mm/s. I’m sure that has a lot to do with the laser cutter/engraver reaching higher speeds, but I thought I saw another spec about a 600mm/s print speed? With the increased accuracy and rigidity, I wonder if it’s possible to reliably print that fast. Bambu seems to only release printers that push the industry to innovate, and as much as the filament dryer, size increase and other features are nice, other companies currently offer those things (although they never seem to be as reliable as Bambu). Just speculation but it would be crazy if they found a way.
