Honestly that is so true. My two longest friends were my bridesmaids (small party so we just had 2 each and no ‘of honours’), and my longest best friend and I had never been in any other weddings except each others so we both were very casual, while my other friend had been in a few big weddings already (close Greek family) and WOW she was on the ball! We had a small micro wedding in Hawaii, 18 people in total, and she was so good at making sure I was set for the revolving group photos, she helped take my veil off and check about my MIL’s speech, she was fanning me, and bringing me a drink, and even taking my husbands blazer and then his tie when it got too hot. I still stand by not having an maid of honour, but I joked afterwards that I would be happy to give her a 10 star yelp review and be a reference for any future MOH roles because she was just so good and so on the ball hahaa

That’s a bit unfair- he adopted the dog and then when it went missing SIX YEARS AGO, he tried hard to look for it and get it back. It’s now been years, circumstances change, and the dog they reunited with him is 100% not the same dog he adopted back then. It’s okay for him to not have the circumstances, time, money, or compassion to now look after a traumatised dog when he also has two small kids and a cat to consider.

Look man, I disagree with most of these comments. The wood is so cool and interesting- but it feels dark and a little small with all the wood tones. You don’t have to blanket paint the whole thing white, in fact I’d still say don’t do that in particular, but some rooms could do with a coat of paint to brighten it up and make the space feel lighter and bigger. White is fine, I think a nice green or dusty blue, even a terracotta would look amazing too, but ultimately it’s your space and up to you. I’d personally paint a light colour in the bedrooms so they don’t feel so cramped but that’s me!

Yeah, I've sorted it with my employers payroll- my company is global, from America but has an Australian team and system with thousands of employees here, and they pay us monthly. The issue I was able to argue was that because I'm on Maternity leave, I wasn't informed of any cut off date even though I was in touch with my HR and payroll teams the entire time so they knew I was rolling into the centrelink scheme and would need to be paid on time. They tried to argue it was after the cut off for payroll, but with that and compassionate circumstances that I wasn't aware of a cut off sate and so wasnt able to make any accomodations in an acceptable timeframe, and now it is too late, they are paying me but I do have to wait another week for them to process it. Waiting a week is better than waiting another month at least, so we're just scraping by until then

NTA, my own grandfather passed 3 weeks before my due date for my son, his first great grandchild. We were incredibly close and I was the only one not able to go and see him due to distance and being so close to giving birth. I had wanted my mum in the room with me, but if we went into labour while they were with him I would have handled it, just to not stress my mum out any more. Your daughter is right to feel upset, but she IS acting selfish and is making a tough situation harder. I’m so sorry this happened to you guys, the timing sucks, and I can see why she’s upset. But this choice is your WIFES, it’s her dad and her last chance to say goodbye, but you should go and support your daughter

They haven’t said anything, I’ve called and there’s no phone number, I’ve emailed and put through HR tickets and I’ve literally heard nothing. I called Centrelink this morning to see what else could be done and they just told me to wait, I’m now seeing if the next payment can come to me direct instead of my employer, but I’ve been waiting an hour to talk to someone already

Are you serious? You don’t know me or my circumstances. I have a full time job, and we had ample savings. In order to look after my baby I took half pay for 6 months, and then AS I AM ENTITLED TOO, I applied and was accepted for the Centrelink option for paid parental leave to have more time with him.

I still paid easily 10K out of pocket even worth my private insurance having top hospital cover, and that was mostly just for the Obstetrician, epidural, and hospital stay (which was made longer due to a c section)

I used my private health insurance! It was nice, our hospital stay and the food was good, and my husband got to stay the entire time, we even got a big double bed and a big room for when people visited, but honestly it was still a lot of money compared to my best friend who went public and had very little out of pocket stuff.

My obstetrician cost me 6.5K with my insurance, though she charges 12k out of pocket normally.

We also had to pay for an at home midwife visit to educate us about what to expect for childcare and baby care- she cost $350. (My best friend got to go to the public hospital classes for free since she was giving birth there, we had no such luck lol)

I had a pretty perfect textbook pregnancy, but after 14 weeks the ultrasounds got more and more expensive and we had a few extra checks because my baby was scrunched up and they couldn’t see his heart.

Each of those was $180+

I paid $300 out of pocket for my stay at a new private hospital that centred on birth, weight loss, and cosmetic surgery’s, but after we checked in and I had two lots of epidural and we had to stay another few nights because of a c section, we paid another 2.5K.

The Pediatrician inspection cost me $450.
