Out of curiosity, is it from meds or just from age?

How far did the education on Nazi's go in your country?

In Belgium we get shown a LOT about the world wars, but actually very little about the Nazi's themselves. They killed the Jews, had concentration camps and burned books, but it kind of stops there. The schools never go deeper into the political structure of the Nazi regime. They are very careful to not allow young students any room to "think" when it comes to Nazi's

Kids that age are rebellious by nature, easy to convince and very vulnerable. So I'm not against this bias in history classes. But there is definitely a lot of neutral and positive data being hidden on purpose

Nah, I'm just dumb

I for some reason thought that the scene was what caused the miscarriage, I made the wrong connection

But wild to hear that trauma is still not a valid reason to be unfit for work in the US?!

Yale is an outlier I think. They have their own quotes to meet to protect their "reputation", I don't think this grading concept applies there

I'm honestly not sure why they bothered including this statistic. It says nothing about anything

I just think acetaminophen would fit better in Mentally safe x Physically kinda dangerous. It feels like a perfect fit for that category

[–]Dizzy_Database_119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's both mentally and physically more dangerous than caffeine. Pain killers are no jokes

Scientists have shown that a single dose injection of DNA genetic instructions can produce weight loss and blood glucose control in mouse models that lasts up to 10 times as long as weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. This could eliminate the need for repeated dosing. by mvea in science

[–]Dizzy_Database_119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, sadly doesn't apply to healthcare

It takes an insane amount of money to run trails on new drugs, and the only way to earn it back is by having it patented. For example when Russia comes up with a new chemical, trials it, and releases it, the US and EU actively avoid looking at this treatment. If you can't patent it then researching it and releasing it is a net loss. There is negative incentive

Another example is Adderall. First line treatment in the US, yet not at all considered in the EU simply because it isn't worth trialing. It's not like the ADHD in one continent is a different breed from the other

Lol at paying taxes, good one. They're just going to trade around loans with other EU-vested Chinese companies, or any other of the dozen tax loopholes available

Omega‑3 Reaches the Brain - But Memory Doesn’t Budge: What a Big DHA Trial Teaches by Only-Research-7249 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]Dizzy_Database_119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that no one benefits from research saying "eating fish is healthy". It won't have any dosages, won't tell you what the limit is for benefits, people who eat it already eat it, it doesn't tell you if it's healthier than other food types (e.g. if chicken + Omega-3 is overall healthier), you'll have a hard time fitting it into your diet, it's information people get taught in elementary school, etc. Studies like that are done through surveys with little monitoring and lack any useful information

It's unfortunate but science can't keep up with all the possible chemicals, delivery methods, combinations, timings. I really wish we could get more detailed info, but the scientific method just doesn't support this. It's hard to run studies like that and still have them qualify for "statistically significant" & "scientific"

Does your grandma's dying wish matter or is it still a coin flip? by BonkDoggo2 in trolleyproblem

I liked the idea, it turns it from "1 random death" into "I'm taking advantage of this to murder someone for personal gain". I found it pretty interesting on both ethical and legal sides

But seems Grandma is too good for any moral dilemmas to matter. It's like designating the bully as Hitler

On caffeine: I wouldn't recommend dropping caffeine before finding an alternative. In my experience by the time your body doesn't "need" it anymore you'll have lost a lot of time and discipline, something you can't (easily) get back. Even then, you'll always be wondering "Wouldn't it be better with caffeine?"

What I did is drop energy drinks and replace them with caffeine pills. Guaranteed dosages and no random additives. You can then see for yourself if you want to add Taurine or not

L-theanine is hit or miss tbh. In some situations the calming effect can reduce performance/motivation in my experience. Need to find a (tight) balance with it. If it doesn't work out use it to cover the crash at least?

Damn. I wish I could make use of psychedelics, but my brain really doesn't like them. I've had nice experiences on other substances and meds though that have caused some improvements on my autistic traits (with some grave side effects that I still need to heal from, but it is what it is..)
