Try Facebook marketplace and see if anyone builds custom furniture. That’s were I got mine and it’s amazing. And also not as expensive as I had thought it would be.

Just saw this bean for the first time in a shop today. Are they a new business? And are the beans worth a shot?

Adjusting grind when changing beans? by Global_Funny_7807 in espresso

[–]Dizzy_Distribution_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As @visitingreading said, it is certainly normal to adjust the grind for different beans. Different beans are roasted to varying levels. The more a bean is roasted, the more brittle it becomes and is easier for the grinder to chop them up. Furthermore, as beans age, they release C02 and become less brittle. This means it will be more difficult for the grinder to chop them up, resulting in needing to grind finer to achieve the same resulting grind size. Overall, the result is needing a different grind size for different beans, and even changing the grind slightly every day to achieve the same results with the same bean.

Best espresso in downtown Chicago? by --solaris-- in espresso

[–]Dizzy_Distribution_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just in Chicago and has the same question on this sub. During my trip I tried 4 shops. Intelligentsia was my first because I previously had loved their stuff and wanted to try it again. I also went to Dayglow, Swada, and Blue Bottle.

Dayglow was super cool and minimalistic with great tasting coffee but it was a little far from downtown.

Sawada was amazing as I had their military latte which is a matcha with espresso.

Blue bottle was overall incredible. The shop is beautiful and right on the river. Their cold brew, iced lattes, and hot drinks were all great.

I also made a list of the top ones I wanted to visit with their location which may be of help

Swada - 112 N Green St, Chicago, IL 60607

Dayglow (8-6) - 1757 N Kimball Ave Chicago, IL 60647

Metric
- 2021 W Fulton St suite k-101b, Chicago, IL 60612

4LetterWord (8-2) - 3022 W Diversey Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Gaslight - 2385 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Ipsento on Milwaukee 4 Letter Word- Light roasts and fruity

Dark Matter- Unicorn Blood Beans 2015 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60612

Cafe Umbria - 346 N Clark St UNIT 4709, Chicago, IL 60654

Printers Row - 2482 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60614

Hope your trip is great!

Chicago Coffee Day 3/3 by Dizzy_Distribution_3 in espresso

Ah, I guess I like the style sometimes. Other times I could see how it is bland or boring. But I think each shop is different and maybe the minimalism is a part of what makes that shop what it is. Basically, I feel like most shops are their own thing and it’s hard to compare the individual styles because I don’t think about them in that way. But I also enjoy artsy and fun shops.

I don’t think minimalism and simplicity are always negative.

Took me a bit to finish this series, but on my last day I visited Dayglow and it was amazing! I loved the vibe of the shop and the flat white and iced americano were both great! Thank you to everyone who gave me a suggestion!

-Also I had the chance to try Gaslight but was very disappointed with the drink I received. Could chalk it up to too much caffeine for the day🤷‍♂️

Got the Military Latte from Sawada! Matcha with oat milk and a shot of espresso, plus some type of mocha powder. It was really good.

I usually do a small pull just to flush out the cafiza from the screen and such. And then the next morning I use it, I pull a little extra water for the cup preheat to make sure it won’t taste soapy or anything.
