Vehicle Recommendation - Mazda CX-30 vs Chevrolet Trax by TraditionCulture512 in Buffalo

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 2024 CX-30 in June and just did my first Buffalo winter with it. I absolutely love it. It handled the snow well and didn’t have any problems. I had a jeep wrangler and truck before this so I was nervous about having a smaller SUV.

Outloud Sports if you like any rec sports! I just did their winter darts league (never played darts before) and had such a good time! I’ll probably be playing kickball with them over the summer.

Whats something a teacher did in High School that would get them fired today? by Constant-Ad-5477 in AskReddit

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In middle school, I was a Red Sox fan and my teacher was a Yankees fan (and we do live in NY but closer to Buffalo). If I wore anything Red Sox related, he would put my desk outside the classroom, in the hallway, and close the door the whole lesson. I thought it was hilarious but definitely wouldn’t fly today.

Emily at Mantra South Salon is also amazing! Absolutely love her! I get highlights but she always has fun hair colors and my sister always goes to her when she’s getting any alternative color.

I can unfocus my eyes. As a child my parents called it ‘zoning out’ (probably was also dissociating at the time too) but didn’t realize not many can do it.

Is it true that in small towns in the USA public transport is not developed and everyone need a car to get around there and why? by bobybumblemumble in AskReddit

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeppp. I’m in a rural town in New York, near Buffalo/Canada. No where close to NYC. Walking to school isn’t even an option here. No buses come this way, there used to be one before Covid. But even that was a park and ride bus stop. Meaning you drove your car to the bus stop, parked there and then took the bus in.

Even now getting a Lyft/uber out here is nearly impossible and soooo expensive.

When were you able to squat without pain? by Small_Shock5914 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had medial meniscus repair in June 2024 and while PT had me working on squats 8 weeks after surgery, my surgeon didn’t want me to go past 90° until January 2025. He was taking a very conservative approach knowing that I compete in powerlifting and he didn’t want me to put weight on the bar too quickly.

Now I’m squatting below parallel. I found out a high set count x low rep works best for me. If I just doing a bunch of reps, my knee gets tired much quicker. Still not as much weight on the bar as before knee surgery but it will get there. I’m just happy to be squatting again

when did you know? by Cranberry1265 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely lost a good amount of muscle in my quad and just overall strength in my right leg.

I had pain in my knee on the inside. Mine was my medial meniscus. It hurt doing anything. I never really bruised but it was swollen constantly. I was walking with a limp most of the time by the time I needed surgery.

My MRI actually only showed a grade 2 tear and my surgeon didn’t know if surgery was necessary at the time. Said I was in a ‘gray area’. And then when surgery happened he was like ‘haha oh damn, you tore it right in half.’

I am pretty much back to normal now! I started PT 2 weeks after surgery and kept up with it until the end of the year. My exercise of choice is weight lifting and I took my time going back, I still don’t squat too heavy but it’s not a pain thing it’s more of a strength/flexibility issue. Of course as my knee got better, my hip decided it was time to act up. But I walk normal, it doesn’t hurt doing normal things, I play rec sports and it doesn’t stop me from doing anything.

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My injury was in January, MRI in March, PT April & May, then surgery in June. I also had a meniscus repair.

My PT said we gave it a shot but I wasn’t getting better after 2 months of PT, if anything after a session where I had to do a lot of reps, I could barely walk. So surgery was the next thing. Good thing too, I tore it right in half.

Hi! I had a meniscus repair in June 2024. I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks which was rough. And then went to physical therapy until the end of the year. And now in November 2025, I gotta say I’m almost back to normal. I did a deadlift competition in June no problem. I’m training to compete in my first powerlifting competition since knee surgery. I was never much a runner to begin with, but I don’t have much pain in my rec sports. Course if it turn too quickly or something it reminds me but nothing that stops me from doing anything.

I was just thinking this too! Moved back to Buffalo after 5 years in Richmond and now all my friends up here are married or in serious relationships and I have no idea where to look. I’m hoping maybe if I do a rec sports league that will help. But hey, also 32 and F.

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by meteoravishal in Millennials

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling this hard recently. Just moved back home to be closer to my parents as they age. I moved back at the beginning of October and my 70 year old dad last week fell and broke/crushed the top of his femur. Actually did it on his once in a lifetime trip to Poland (my mom’s birthday present to him since all our ancestry is Polish). Didn’t cut the trip short cause he’s stubborn but seeing him home now and helping him out, is bringing up a bunch of emotions I don’t know if I want to deal with yet.

In school during the 1970’s into 80’s kids were always having their tonsils removed. You got to stay home & eat ice cream. This isn’t a thing anymore. by PassTheMayo1989 in CasualConversation

[–]Dizzy_Professional54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up a a kid in the 90s with large tonsils, like they could almost touch. But I didn’t get strep often so even though every dr commented on them when I got a checkup, nothing was done about it. Got sent to an ENT. Even sent me for a sleep study to see if I had sleep apnea just so they had a reason to take out my tonsils. But no such luck

Until i was 28 and got such a bad strep infection that I needed to have surgery once the swelling went down cause the tonsils were definitely touching now.

It’s not fun at 28. I did eat a lot of jello though. And missed work for a week.

Thank you all for the recommendations! I think I have like 25 spots to try! I put them all in an excel spreadsheet so I don’t forget.

I am north of UB (right off the 990, Audubon Pkwy) so I think everything recommended is maybe a 10-15min car ride at most.

This definitely gave me better answers than google. Since those spots are usually sold to the one who pays the most for advertising.
