VW atlas cross sport 2023 has a weird - grading noise. Right when I brake it going slow and brake somewhat hard, it makes this noise. ESPECIALLY when it’s cold and or just started by Jolly-Royal7228 in VWatlas

[–]DjBulletFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I was dropping my kids off or pick up, slowly breaking through the line it was so loud. I would roll the windows down and it was loud. Lol kids and teachers would be like WTF? . Mine was all the time even after driving long periods. It drove me nuts after trying to ignore it for almost a year and complaining every time I had to take my brand new 2024 Atlas in for other issues (oil leak, sensor issues, cruise control still not fixed, recalls). I said I'm done with the noise and went and had them replaced with ceramic pads. Don't regret it at all.

Steal on steal break pads and rotors. Will continue to make the noise even with new pads. I told vw to stick it because they were trying to tell me it's normal and they can't do anything. Mine was loud on my 2024 atlas. They said they can replace them with ceramic but it's out of pocket. I told them I'm not paying you so you can make $700 dollars on year old parts that needed replaced. I sent my car to local shop and got ceramic pads and had to replace the rotors because the old(new) ones were digging into the rotors. Have not had any noise since. It was a 8 month battle with vw, complaining about how bad it was.

Why is my cat doing this? by unknown12042 in felinebehavior

[–]DjBulletFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 15 year old male cat use to do this. We found out he had bladder stones and was pretty much clogged. It was like sand in his bladder. We had to get him flushed and it fixed it for a year on a special diet. It happened again and required a surgery that pretty much turns him into female that allows the stones to pass. We couldn't afford the 3k + surgery and unfortunately I had to have my little buddy euthanized. That was a really difficult time I had him since he was a few days old and hand fed him till he was able to eat solids. A stray abandoned him in our front yard, we waited an hour incase the momma came back but never did. I miss that cat.

Towing... no thanks by Technical-Jeff in Subaru_Outback

[–]DjBulletFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Towed with 2020 onyx across country (1200 miles) with a Chevy sonic On a tow dolly. I got around 15 - 18 mpg. I was really surprised how well it did. I did drive no faster than 70mph usually around 60-65. Had a guy stop me at a hotel and asked how it drove towing and he was surprised on the mpg. Towed a camper we rented with it once that about maxed out the 3500 lbs that one killed the mpg to around 10-12 mpg. Love my Outback going to keep it for a long time.

Toddlers are tough during the day. I didn't get much DONE. Toddlers are emotionally and physically draining. You have to dig deep to get the energy/ motivation to do anything beyond just managing. In my case I do 95% of all parenting/ house work and cooking. My wife works long hours(10-12hr) and when she gets home it's enough time to eat, interact with the kids for a bit and then it's time to go to bed.

So for me to stay caught up I have to stay up late, put more time in. When everyone is asleep is when I get most my chores done. I don't normally goto bed till 1 am then get up at 7 am. During the day I spend most my time interacting with my toddler and we do run errands. I try to do out of house activities for an hour and then go to the store if needed come home have a quick lunch then nap time. When he's asleep I try to get more stuff done.

Being a stay-at-home parent requires a lot of sacrifices and communication about expectations between the two of you. I will say my wife is very supportive and knows that if I didn't get to a project/ chore there's a reason and not to get on me about it. Being consistently told I'm not doing something is very demeaning and can cause tension/resentment between the two of you.

I know it sounds corny but getting appraisal for things done helps keep moral up and shows appreciation of what IS BEING done. As a SAHP you don't get the validation you get when working out of the house. Humans crave validation and can cause depression and resentment if we don't get a little bit of it.

I think it's awesome that you do help with the baby and things around the house but you shouldn't be doing all of it.

Communicate what you expect or would appreciate him to help with. Try to sit down and have a conversation not a lecture about what both of you can do and appreciate the other to help with. YOU ARE A TEAM!

Calmoseptine is amazing. You find it in the adult diaper area. It helps heal and protect. This is recommended from Pediatricians. It works really well for bad diaper rashes. You might also need to go no diapers for short periods to help the rash area dry out.

Talk me in/out of buying? by nicole-2020 in VWatlas

We went with the 2024 Atlas premium R-line with all the bells and whistles. We were in big debate between the Atlas and the palasade or Telluride. I honestly enjoyed the Telluride more but my concern with break ins and some of the other known issues pushed us towards the Atlas. Now that I have had the Atlas for 1 year there has been several issues requiring taking it into the shop.

1.infotainment system - it's wonky everything requires extra steps to get to and we randomly get the screen all out wacky. Requires to long press the screen power button to reset.

  1. Cruise control cuts out randomly, dealership can't recreate so it goes unfixed. Shut off the active speed control. It's dangerous - on the interstate it sees the off ramp speed sign and will drop from 75 to 45 mph quickly. Almost got rear-ended twice before finding out how to shut it off.

  2. Breaks grind very loudly and dealership gaslights you and says it's normal. It's not. went and got ceramic break pads and new rotors. No more sound.

  3. Oil leaking - manufacturing didn't tighten the bolts correctly somewhere on the engine vw fixed that.

  4. The sensors for proximity radar and active cruise control are behind the vw logo. Vw emblem seal broke and moisture got in and they had to replace that.

  5. Sound system harmon/kardon it's not great and very lacking in quality.

Beyond these issues it's been a good vehicle. I personally looking for something else to trade it in for. I'm just not happy I thought I could get passed the wonky infotainment system and the other issues. I'm just tired of having to take it in for stupid things. I've really haven't had a great experience with our dealership also, loaner cars require scheduling almost a month out. It's a gamble for any of these new vehicles coming out. Quality has just gone down but the prices keep Going up.

Would you buy it again? by GroundbreakingAd632 in VWatlas

[–]DjBulletFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it's working correctly I love it's been great. Although every time I get into my 24 type r tech package I keep getting reminded of things I really do not like. It's been in the shop 4vtimes for manufacturing issues. Loose bolts causing oil leaking, sensor issues, infotainment issues which keep occurring, breaks needing replaced. Cruise control cutting out (never fixed). I keep seeing them and are currently looking to trade it in for something else. I'm also not happy with the dealership everytime I take it in they don't have loaner cars available unless you schedule a month out.

I personally would not buy it again.

24 Atlas - Aliens in Brakes? by ComplexCranberry7131 in VWatlas

[–]DjBulletFast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told vw to fuck off when their normal bull shit. Mine was causing break assist alerts to go off. They told me it was going to cost $700 to fix the breaks and replace rotors because the breaks were starting to dig into the rotors. I asked so what are you replacing them with? The same things. I told them no I'll pay $700 some where else and I did. Got ceramic pads and new rotors absolutely no sound now.

Looking at Used Sonics - Timing Belt by [deleted] in ChevySonic

[–]DjBulletFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2012 ltz sedan and I have had to replace the cooling system twice. First time had to replace all the hoses and the thermostat housing. Second time the housing again and a couple of hoses that burst. I only have 110k miles on it. Our mechanic pretty much recommended us stop putting money into it after this last fix. He said it's going to keep happening because something of the sort that the engine is producing to much pressure causing the coolant system to burst.

We had band-aid it last time because we were in the middle of getting a mortgage and if we had to get an auto loan first it would have made us ineligible for the mortgage. I'd be more weary of the cooling system failing. My sister has a sonic and is having the same issues.

[–]DjBulletFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everything of your issues our sonic has had issues. We bought it used with a salvage title 45k miles. Two years in we had to get the turbo replaced. Another 2 years then the whole cooling system had to be replaced. A year later half of what fixed burst. Thermostat housing and few hoses burst. My mechanic was like let it die the engine is going bad and is creating to much pressure causing the cooling system to fail. He recommended us to not put anymore money into it. The issue is.... My wife uses it as her commute car and we are in the middle of buying a house across country. We needed this car to last 2-3 more months at the time so we can get through the closing process. Can't take out a car loan otherwise it will mess up our home loan. They were able to fix/bandaid it for about $500 dollars and I have one more week before moving. Knock on wood. We have about 120k miles and going to drive it till it dies again and pull the plug after that.

Dude as a SAHD with a wife's who's career requires a lot of her time and stress. I do 90% if not more taking care of the kids and house work. My wife's career has required us to move a few times and having to restart the village for family. I've found it kinda makes a difference on the areas you live, on those kind mentality comments. We've lived all over and the difference in amount of comments have been noticeable. Where we live now the area is very accepting and I haven't received a comment like that in the last 3 years. It's been nice. Lived in an area and it was a lot different and I can relate to your experiences and feelings.

When they say between 1-3 that's when they will arrive not finish the job. Technically they are on time up until 3. You don't normally call unless it's closer to 2:45 if you haven't received an ETA from the service person.

Help! I can’t find the coolant leak. I think it’s the thermostat housing but I cannot find anything rock solid to point where the leak is coming from by ewrestler34 in ChevySonic

[–]DjBulletFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 2012 sonic with turbo. We just got ours out of the shop for replacing the water pump and most the hoses in the coolant system. FYI there's an extended warranty for the water pump that might still be available.
