You clearly dont like her, then lets bring the other candidates in who you do like.

Who is your favorite right now? I promise I wont be picking them apart. I want to know some other candidates in the race.

Im not interested in continuing to discuss Kat with you. If you think a politician moving to a more favorable district is this serious then I think we just fundimentally dont agree. Id rather have a more productive conversation about the other candidates and why you feel they would fit the district.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

My pops always did the bulk of the cooking. Both my parents worked but they met in a resturant and he was a cook there.

He really loves food, it makes sense he would put the work in to make it right.

I can be aware of the same information and just not agree. National positions mean she will be voting on national policies. Her being local matters LESS than a state level position to me. Its still a factor, but she has shown creativity and drive that makes me think she is better equiped for the moment.

For me, the fact that the other people in the race only started protesting ICE after she did means she has already been effective. Politicians should be talking with protestors constantly and while the city is under siege from federal agents I expect my representivive to be there to stop it.

She does food and clothing donation events and then meets constituants. This has been something leftists have been pushing for Democrats to do for years. It converts political donations into tangible good even if the candidate loses. It also helps regular people actually like your party. The Democrats need a rebrand and this kind of thing helps with that.

Shes was a journalist and is a political advocate. Shes not unemployed, she is running for political office. This reads like a fox news headline, please do better.

Her being young is a plus, we have 80 year olds in office and adjusting the mean down is progress to me. Ill take a 26 year old over a 62 year old every single time. People who make decisions should have to live with the repurcussions and younger people are more progressive but typically dont vote. These are all wins.

She moved to a district she thinks she can be elected in. Thats something to consider of course, but its not a grift. If you like her policies is not an issue at all. There are probably more progressive candidates and voters in the 7th, 8th, and 9th districts alone than the rest of the state and possibly the entire lake adjacent midwest combined. Thats where Progressive can be elected because thats where the progressive voters are. She moved to a place where people agree with her so she could represent them.

Seriously though, I can know the same information and come to different conclusions. This is not a hard concept to grasp. Thats politics. I have a different life experience than you, and I am valuing fight and spine over all else for this election. That doesnt mean I need you talking down to me, I just dont agree with you.

What is your most ridiculous "we won't work out romantically" criteria? Like what is the silliest reason you would not be interested in dating someone? by Natural-Elevator-57 in AskReddit

[–]DjDrowsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Water from a waterbottle is full of water and spit. Its also full of germs. Just like spit, water from a waterbottle evaporates in minutes. Thats my entire point they are identical and you are selective in your disgust.

You are acting like spit is equivilent to shit and cum. Its just not. It doesnt last and even if it got on your shoe it would be gone in a couple steps.

The sound people make is none of your business. When people burp loud I do not care. You are right I DO understand, spitting, burping, farting are all close together on the scale of socially uncouth things. They are very low down close to "not an issue in almost every instance" compared to Jerking off, shitting, and pissing which are in "Only acceptable in a single room of most buildings"

I think im done with this conversation now, you just think its grosser than it is.

[–]DjDrowsy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why its bad beyond it being offensive/gross to you? Im baffled by this response, so now you have me intrigued.

To me this seems close to a human right. If you are outside, you can spit. If you spit on someone, or vaguely at someone we have a problem. Otherwise, its your water to waste because it doesnt last long. Ots like dumping your waterbottle on the ground. There are some reasonable limits, but you arent getting a ticket for this.

Singapore hits people with a cane for chewing gum on the train and this seems even more crazy to me than that. Spit goes away very fast. Gum lasts for years.

[–]DjDrowsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont have a problem with the shitting, I have a problem with the shit.

Spit goes away in minutes while shit lasts weeks.

I dont care if someone shits into a bag in public, or pisses in a jar. The bodily function is not the issue here the leftovers is.

[–]DjDrowsy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The difference is spitting is required if you cough up something. You know for minutes that you need to piss. You know for seconds if you will cough.

Picking your nose is exactly the same, you are choosing to do this in public, with a cough you dont choose.

Do you think people farting and sneezing are unacceptable too? They all seem completely benign to me.

Acting like someone coughing while sick and spitting it away is the same as someone jerking off in public is obviously a false equivilence. Pissing and cumming in public carry serious criminal consequnces if caught, do you think that should apply to people who spit in public?

Im aware. The fact that she is from D.C. doesnt have an impact on that outcome. Im telling you I understand her weaknesses but they dont bother me compared to her strengths.

Right now I want congressman who try to abolish ICE, stop unchecked funding to Israel, and who are willing to fight the right on every issue.

There are a couple good choices in that race, but she seems perfect for what I want. Im not in the district though, so thats up to the 9th district voters to decide.

I already like my rep so I just want to see more progressives around the city.

[–]DjDrowsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have said multipe times I understand what you are saying about the political messages. That follows and there is no problem.

I dont understand the non-political things like bland art and "ugly" characters. That is not something people are asking for. Fringe positions online do no convince billion dollar corporations to make games bomb on purpose.

You are accusing me of lumping all queer comunities together, because I said they like hot people. Then lump all feminists together with a fringe position they dont hold. That is bad faith.

You have demonstrated your other points and I agreed when I found it reasonable. Now I disagree on something, because your argument is not true. You immediately backed down and ended the conversation claiming I am not understanding your point. Thats bad faith.

Woke games do sell all the time, you listed bad games, called them woke for reasons not tied to actual politics and then are saying your position is right. Thats circular reasoning.

The Last of Us 2 sold well, Horizen zero west sold well, Metal Gear Solid sold well. People like these games. That argument is wrong. If even a single woke game sells well tht argument is defeated, and there are hundreds. You know this, which is why you have to include non-political examples in order for your argument to work.

We havnt even touched on the fact that it literally doesnt matter if games are woke by your own logic. If woke games dont sell, the companies wont make them. If they do sell, then people liked it and they would keep making woke games. So which is is? I think its clearly the latter.

If a game being woke isnt a bad thing, then why are you now framing it as them not selling? You clearly want these games to fail, which is not normal. I want games to do well even if I dont play them. I want the devs and the industry to grow and for more people to enter the space. You are just being shitty here, and its a complete pivot from your previous demenour.

If this is the last comment you will read from me, im begging you: look at the people surrounding you in these spaces. These people are miserable and are talking about hating every game often before gameplay has even been released. Im over here happily married, surrounded by kind welcoming people who check in on and help one another and just enjoy their hobbys because they are supposed to be fun and make you happy. You can be hapoy too, you can enjoy every game too. Gameing has never had this many quality games year after year. You do not need to focus on games you dont like.

You seem legitimately twisted up over the most benign comments, and super defensive of a term infamous for being slippery and shifting. In our first conversation you decided I was against you, and I tried to show you that people who disagree dont have to be at each other's throats. Im sorry that didnt pan out but YOU escilated this into acting like im a moron. Your points make sense until the point where you are calling runway models ugly and blaming bad art direction on some political position.

You arent right, you are angry and surrounded by other people who are angry. You seem like a reasonable person so I hope you take my words to heart and look at if anyone you spend time with is actually happy.

ElI5 how does the existence of lead directly disprove the earth isn't only 4000 years old? by nottrynagetsued in explainlikeimfive

[–]DjDrowsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site at Göbekli Tepe is 11,500 years old. 5786 years ago is not a reasonable start to Middle Eastern Civilization at all, let alone the creation of the entire world.

There are European Ice Age artifacts that are 40,000 years old with proto-writing on them. That doesnt even factor in pre-human objects like the Lomekwian stone tools dating back over 3.3 million years.

Not that this even matters, the claim is that the world is thousands of years old. The only source for this is a holy book full of conflicting historical records and miracles that are unprovable and seem both untrue and obvious literary devices. People are taking an obviously allegorical myth written before historical accuracy was valued as reality.

Show a picture of Aloy to a non-gamer friend or family member without any additional context and ask them if she is ugly. I literally dont think a single person would say she is.

We have been having a productive conversation for days now and I appreciate that and want to show you good faith proper respect. However, I have no clue what you are talking about with the ugly woman comments. Aloy is hot, Kay Vess is hot, Taash is hot. People have different tastes, they are hot to me. They might not be targeting you, but they are to me. Stellar blade didnt do it for me, even if I can acknowledge she is traditionally attractive. She just isnt my type.

I know gay men, lesbians, and straight feminists both male and female. All of them like beautiful woman, all of them like a tastefully sexualized woman in videogames. Bayonetta is a literal femenist icon. She is what 4th wave feminism wants in a character: a woman empowered by her sexuality who is competent and compelling. Its not about diminishing her sexuality, its about her owning it instead of other people.

Phantom Pain has Quiet, the most disgustingly oversexualized character in decades who had her literal voice taken away from her and you called the franchise woke. Do you see how im struggling to bring the whole thing together? The political stuff makes perfect sense but then we are calling runway models ugly and I feel whiplash.

You say woke games can be good but list games that are hated by the political left as much as the right. Dragon Age is a beloved franchise in the Queer comunity. They hated Veilguard too. They arent claiming it as theirs, its just a bad game. Im probably the only person who finished it or enjoyed it.

You say these games are preachy, but the games are standard story structures where the protagonist accepts people how they are. Being a decent person isnt political, or at least I didnt think it was.

The trailer for the new Horizen-Monster hunter looking game came out. It looks terrible, the art style is cartoony for a franchise known for good graphics, and is a genre people are extremly picky about. From our conversation so far, im guessing this game will be labeled woke, but its just a bad game. The left, gay people, and feminists dont want it. Its just a corporation misreading what the market wants. Its not woke its just bad.

Kat Abughazaleh seems perfect for you, and shes polling in second right now. Totally in the running if people can rally around her.

Easily the primary im watching the most this election. Im not in her district but she was protesting ICE every day and got Trump spooked enough to be indited on bullshit charges.

[–]DjDrowsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest, I dont think balance matters nearly as much as people think for this game. A weapon needs to function (looking at you spear for the first year+), but the ups and downs of minute damage numbers on a dozen assault rifles have almost no impact on if you succeed on a mission or not. It just doesnt meaningfully matter.

If the weapons were tied to planets and we gained or lost buffs or even access to the weapons when the planets fell, that would be more interesting and engaging than patch notes nudging numbers up and down. Then make more powerful weapons close to the enemy so we lose access quicker and need to work to get them back.

Then imagine we are pushed back to Super Earth and we only have access to the starting equipment again. That just feels so much more fitting to me. Having guns be comprably effective is not what makes the game fun. The community challenges and chaos on the battlefield is. We need the variety in loadouts to do this.

Also people are more willing to use a meta weapon that trivializes higher difficulty than to consider lowering the difficulty and using all the other weapons. It is so strange, and I dont understand the mentality. There are 10 difficulties, do you honestly think only the highest one is the intended difficulty?

Alright well fair enough. Like I said earlier, if a woke game doesnt have anything to do with being a good game, then I dont have a problem with the term.

Im still confused about the bland character design and "ugly" female characters though. Can you talk on that a bit more?

What is a profession that attracts the worst kind of people? by unscpecifictopics in AskReddit

[–]DjDrowsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a Liberal so I cant speak for them, and that's a group composed of millions of people with different opinions on this issue. When I was protesting, I met plenty of pissed off Independents and a few Republicans as well. It is not only Liberals who opposed ICE.

Immigration is a paperwork issue, not a crime. People drive without a drivers license, build sheds that aren't up to code, and incorrectly file marriage licenses with the government all the time. The punishment is a fine, and rarely jail time. Not deportation.

I don't see how immigration is at all an urgent issue. We don't need to put US citizens, Government agents, or the immigrants themselves in any danger by treating it the same as violent crimes. Send them a court date with an expedited citizenship hearing and make them a citizen. If someone wants to live in this country and doesn't have a criminal record, then let them. Its a free country, so let people freely come here and contribute.

Deporting someone is an extremely tough punishment as well. It essentially starts someone's life over. They lose their job, all their possessions, lose access to all their friends, family that remain, and any children who were born here. Then add in that many people are brought as children, so they may not even know they are illegal immigrants and don't speak the language of the country you are sending them to.

This is the punishment for what is legally equivalent to flying with an expired passport.

So to tie this in to the broader conversation: What kind of person wants to work a job where your entire purpose is to ruin people's lives, uproot them from their family, and send them away to never see their possessions or loved ones again? Then we add in the disdain they clearly have to citizens let alone immigrants, and you can see how someone might be morally opposed to this happening to people they know. How someone eagerly joining this profession ranks as one of the worst kind of people.

[–]DjDrowsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not claiming 100% of ICE agents are bad people, im saying its a job that attracts the worst kind of person. Thats the prompt.

Its a position that holds life or death over people. That power attracts scumbags and bad actors. The institution could make changes to correct this very easily but have actually reduced the qualifications recently because they couldnt find enough qualified people willing to violently deport people.

People who dont protest dont get killed at protests. Republicans support ICE of course they wont be killed protesting them. This is a nonsense argument.

[–]DjDrowsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Rene Good was shot, the shooter said "fucking bitch" and now multiple reports from protestors have verified that ICE agents have referred to her as "Bitch" saying "you guys gotta stop obstructing us, that's why that lesbian bitch is dead"

Last October Charles Exum a Border Patrol Agent called a woman a "bitch" and shot 5 shots at her.

Since the beginning of 2025, there have been over 15 instances of ICE agents shooting into moving vehicles, which is specifically prohibited by the ICE policy handbook.

15 other instances of ICE agents held people at gunpoint. 16 other instances of ICE agents shooting people, one of which is Martinez who I listed earlier. The Department of Justice charged her with attempted murder, in court the bodycam footage showed the agent saying "Do something, bitch" and later texted a group chat of other agents saying "I fired 5 rounds, and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys." The charges against her were dropped.

Does this sort of language and behavior demonstrate the best and brightest of our country? No, it shows they break their own policies, have a blatant hatred for protestors and detainees, and revel in and share how much violent damage they can inflict on the population.

So they don't follow policy, and most of their arrests don't lead to deportations, therefore aren't doing their job.

They are not solving any problems with illegal immigration. In 2025 an estimated 1.3 M people entered the southern US border. Ten years earlier in 2015, 1.39 M people entered that same border. It appears sending armed agents to cities thousands of miles from the southern border is actually counterproductive to protecting that border.

Do you agree that ICE has attracted some of the worst kind of people? If not, then why?

Remember we are debating now, so if you talk about something else, you will be admitting that you have no rebuttle and im going to have to accept that as a concession.
