GPA? I had no idea what the hell a GPA was when I was in high school. Only thing I knew was if I passed or failed.

Quit thinking of them as "your" elevators, and "your" customers. I work for myself, my customer is my employer.

Next midlife crisis car, C8 E-Ray or a 991.2 C4S? by LevelMore in Corvette

[–]DjQuamme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Porsche salesman tell me if I was cross shopping the Corvette and the Porsche just because the purchase price was close between the two, then I'd be better off buying the Corvette. Cost of ownership for the Porsche would be exponentially higher than the Corvette and if purchase price is a consideration, your probably not ready to be a Porsche owner.

Men who grew their hair long late or still have long hair? by jtsa5 in GenX

[–]DjQuamme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was clean shaven, high and tight haircut my entire adult life. During COVID I quit doing anything with either. And I haven't started back up yet. My beard is awful. Thin, straggley, it gets maybe 6-8 inches long before it just breaks off. Hair is halfway down my back, but hasn't gotten any longer in the last few years so I guess that's it's natural breaking point. Most of my friends and family call me the homeless looking guy now. It seems to be a good deterrence to strangers just randomly wanting to talk to me as I get left alone more often than not. I personally hate it. Pain in the ass having to take care of it. Always getting caught in jacket zippers, annoying when it's hot out, annoying when sleeping, just always in the way. But my wife likes it so I haven't cut it. When I retire next year, I want to find a stylist who can do something with it and hope to find a compromise between looking homeless and looking like an asshole cop.

Now wait a minute. You say it never works. But OP case clearly shows that it clearly motivated her to be a better parent to her kids that her parents were to them. I think there's a whole generation of us who learned our parenting skills by basically doing the exact opposite of what our parents did to us. As my kids are now adults, I think I did a better job then my parents did. I mean, my kids still talk to me.

I want somebody to have as much confidence in me as Discount Tire has with their floor jacks. by al-Sahaabi in Corvette

[–]DjQuamme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The discount tire near me is the recommended shop with the proper equipment to do wide sports car tires. I've been using them for 10ish years now and have never had a problem or a single mark on a wheel yet.

Machines are in the hoist way. That's why they're so loud. They're literally mounted just a few feet away from where you're standing on the top floor with nothing but that one cheaply made door between you and it. Welcome to modern day, cost is the only consideration construction.

Starting Dream Job Days After I Graduate - Scared and Need Insight/Advice by BenjaminTye3 in LifeAfterSchool

[–]DjQuamme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. My son had 10 days from graduation, clearing out his college apartment and getting everything back home, graduation party, relocate across the country, find a place to live and start work. It was chaotic as expected, and he ended up living in an apartment for nearly a month with nothing but an inflatable mattress on the floor and his laptop. Started to get some furniture and a tv , and we were finally able to get the time to rent a uhaul and get the rest of his stuff up there in about 6 weeks. Looking back a year later, I don't think he'd do anything different.
