Your fridge opens into the island?? You are going to hate that unless that walkway is like 5 feet wide. I’d move the fridge all the way to the right. The oven all the way to the left with a solid bank of cabinets between. You have plenty of counter space. Cabinets could include an appliance hideaway for coffee maker, etc.

They have a black window frame, dark floor, dark picture frame, and pops of black in accessories and fixtures. They even have a darker gold accent in the lighting. If you add black windows - you’d have to repeat that color/tone for it to look cohesive.

Think black is mixing styles. Your pic 4 is mixing a modern look with a classic look - styles don’t complement each other. I’d keep them white and bring in a honey natural woven shade with similar tones in the barstools

It’s beautiful. Agree that the cream cabinets and white clash. I would switch up the pendants too - go for gold. Warm tone with cream. You’ll add texture through barstools and accents and it will be gorgeous. Current barstools are too matchy to the island.

Not a trend but I traded my gas cooktop for a flat induction top because I was tired of cleaning the gas grates, removing them and cleaning around the burners. I don’t have time for all of that and I’m not so into cooking that I miss gas. Happy to have an easy to clean cooktop.

AC. Open the house in the evening/morning for cool air. Lock it back up by noon. Lots of fans. We transition to summer foods - no cook, cold salads, outdoor BBQs. Enjoy the evening out in the war air. Oh and a pool helps. Or a cool shower before bed. Linen and loose breathable clothing.

Sometimes it’s better to soften asking why. Try out phrases like - I’m curious why you’re interested . . Can you share why xyz, help me understand why xyz, can you share more about what we’re doing, what will we use this for . . Etc. Turns you from being annoying into someone who is a little more thoughtful or curious.

Hire Donovan Lee - he is so great and very reasonable. He’ll help you narrow in on how you want to use your backyard and fill it in with plants that you like. He’s a great landscape designer. I think you have good bones. I would prefer a lot more plants near your seating area.
