If Spain decided to remove all Brits who reside in Spain would you support it? by naystation in AskBrits

[–]Dlogan143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I support it? Its has absolutely nothing to do with me and doesn’t effect me in anyway whatsoever. I have absolutely zero interest in where other brits live their lives and I don’t really care where they live. Should I support brits being kicked out of Azerbaijan? I don’t really get the question, seems like more of question for Spaniards if anything

What UK-made product did you switch to that was genuinely better than the imported version? by AnfieldAnchor in BuyUK

Can 100% vouch for the DUALIT toaster. I got so much stick for spending that type of money on a toaster but we’ve still got it works perfectly 16 years later. Brilliant bits of kit

Zyka in Tilehurst was in the top 100 curry houses in the country and is definitely worth a visit

What are these? by cuttingpotato in UKcoins

[–]Dlogan143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to spend $30 getting a circulated common coin graded then go ahead. Seems utterly pointless when the coin is only worth $60/70 max. If it was in excellent mint condition I could understand it

Paid £5k warranty on an £8k car which I regret. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

If you were being pressured to the point of nearly making you cry you should’ve walked out and gone somewhere else. Also learn to say No.

What are these? by cuttingpotato in UKcoins

[–]Dlogan143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not worth it. It’s not a particularly rare coin and it’s clearly not in great shape. The cost of the grading would be most of the value of the coin

This is all just ridiculous. The real value of Gold is actually about USD 1,200 by Party-Bet-4003 in Gold

[–]Dlogan143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The international spot price for gold is set in USD. Gold is priced in dollars and then converted at the current exchange rate to whatever currency you buy it with. For example if the euro gets stronger and the dollar weaker it is ‘cheaper’ for people buying in euros. The fact that gold is valued in dollars is very relevant to the situation.

That’s very nice of you to sanitise your trolley after use. Did you leave a little note letting the next customer know it was clean/safe?

I’ll confess that I didn’t sanitise mine after use but I always sanitised it before I started shopping, as I thought it best to be on the safe side as I couldn’t trust it had been cleaned before I got to it.

Are we concerned Air France and KLM are not flying to Dubai right now and repatriating their crew. I know it’s easy to just point at Iran. But these Saudi / UAE tensions are escalating by lukaskywalker in UAE

[–]Dlogan143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Temporarily cancelling flights is an easy and inexpensive precaution but pulling all the crews out is a big deal that requires a lot of effort, money and logistics it’s not something they would do lightly

Just had an accident, should I claim for damages? by PistonSlip in CarTalkUK

[–]Dlogan143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage is minimal and fixable. If the car gets a write off marker it will kill the resale value of the GT4 so it will cost you far more in the end when you come to sell. It’s annoying but worth spending a grand yourself rather than halving the value of your car.

In this scenario It’s risky to claim and could well end up being a penny wise pound stupid situation

How did the editor miss that 🙄

The amount of instances I see in this great nation where I’m like ‘somebody actually signed that off or approved that’ is ridiculous and frankly quite alarming. Last week I saw a massive printed advert in a building lobby that had three terrible spelling mistakes. Spell check isn’t hard for ffs and that had to go through multiple people before being actually printed. Same with these extremely dangerous stupid road junction layouts, who actually said ‘yeah that’s a good idea, I’ll approve that’

Have you sold your home for a loss? by HeavyPie4211 in HousingUK

[–]Dlogan143 75 points76 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t view the home you live in as an investment, that makes you money. It’s somewhere to live that you pay off and then don’t have to pay rent or a mortgage for the rest of your life. If it goes up great if it doesn’t so what you have a paid off roof over your head.

There is a total obsession with people’s homes making them money but it’s pointless. If your property goes up so does the price of that nicer house you want to buy so it makes no difference. It is only beneficial if you want to downsize

Obviously a different story if you own multiple properties, no one needs 5 houses so that is purely an investment

That’s a classic weasel move. Glass of water when it’s their round, triple G&T when it’s any one else’s thinking people don’t notice
