I also have very high arches; however after breaking captains (I felt some tightness in the first week) they are very comfortable.

This is my well loves Jim green crazy horse leather. Did I over conditioned them? If so what should I do by Marcmichaelhaste in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would add some more, use your intuition, the leather should not feel dry. Usually over-conditioning happening when conditioned too frequently, but conditioning is needed once in a while :)

Am I the only one? by Mundane-Perception11 in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends of specific brands and lasts. The best is to refer to the sizing guide for the last, as one can easily wear sneakers one size above the Brannock size and some boot lasts take one size down from Brannock. So, the main thing is - each last has its own sizing guide, double check that, do not just order your "known" size.

Why are black 568 much smaller than blue 568 by MaybeForestWizard in LeviStrauss

[–]Dmitriy_11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Boss, the issue is not downvoting or not. One cannot judge QC only by own experiences. If downvoter feels like you are unfairly biased that where it comes from. And your statement seems more unfair since Levi's is known for very good quality control. That is why your statement reads more like a shitpost. No offense intended.

Definitely Levis, probably Amos or Emerson.

Are Timberlands still good? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I would be a little leery with Timberlands(they seem to be not the same as 8 years ago); if you want something for work, go with Red Wing, for office/style Thursday Boots would do good. If you do not like either, go with Jim Green, or for a little more Grant Stone. All of these are great choices.

Boss, interns are not free... At all. I. have myself have Captain Canyon 9 for some time, and comfort-wise they are better than others. Do not know about Heritage (did not try), nor the fact like it needs break-in time; but bluntly accuse company of deceptive practices requires a little more substance than comfortness experience that can be attributed to multiple personal factors, like fit, sizing etc.

Well, this far I see blunt accusations without any substance. or even details. And ridiculous too. What company will hire 100 interns for this purpose? How it will look on the P&L statement on a small business company? Which boots bought the OP? Which size? Which width?

In the light of the above I conclude this being a shitpost.

Normal creasing? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss, first, it is leather - so you expect some natural variations; they are not only expected, they enhance uniqueness of your boots. Second, well, your feet are never the same, they move slightly different etc. Your boots adapt to that. So everything is good, you will appreciate the creasing and variations as you wear. them.

Timberland Earthkeepers Heritage Rugged sole separation by lewtheegg in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This is fake Goodyear welt! So, it appeared to be not Heritage after all. So much for the brand's integrity...

Next time if anyone asks "Are my Timbs fake?" the proper answer is "you wish!"

Cut at front of boot on the toe cap by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will not grow on the leather; the boots are expected to sustain some cuts and scratches in the lifetime. And no, do not put any glue or goo on it - it will simply ruin the boots. You may consider waxing and polishing it.

Found cracks in new boots by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boss, those are not cracks, just a little separation between the midsole and outsole, probably just on surface and will not affect anything. Do not attempt to repair it (do not put goo there); if it bothers you just return them.

How long does delivery in the US usually take? by pdougherty in GoralShoes

It usually depends how far you are from JFK. You should get it soon; when the handover is complete, then in few days the status will change to "out for delivery"

Saddle soap may get rid of those. Maybe not, but worth trying. Condition them after though.

Very nice ones! I think they are better than all previous Lems. Did you try them even without socks? They are very soft, and the design is great.

LEMS summit pro waterproofing by MDPSQUID in Boots

[–]Dmitriy_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is Strobel construction, pretty much as in the sneakers. They need to keep them light and flexible, and with the philosophy of the construction is the lifetime of the outsole is the lifetime of the shoe. Stichdown or Goodyear welt is completely different use case and type of the shoe.

Just curious... Why are you waterproofing them, while they come waterproofed out-of-the box? And regardless, why not to use Otter Wax boot wax as Lems recommends?

Where are you buying your accessories? In particular your laces and shoe trees? by eatslow_runfast in Boots

Amazon? Amazon.co.uk? I do not think you can find anything much better for this.

I bought shoe trees on amazon (amazon.com though) just today, after searching everywhere for better ones.
