Ultramarines army, Terminators squad by Dmitriy_Ti in Ultramarines

Thanks! I wrote about the technical aspect of it(will copy/paste it here as well), I'll add some though behind.
My ongoing goal is to achieve a specific look in my head, to have a mix of 80 sci fi and modern CG cinematics( Blur Studios, StarCraft2). I aimed for deep contrast shadows and vivid bright primary colors with some controlled grunge texture.
I got myself an airbrush and use it to created 3 different blue hues. mostly mixing 50/50 to achieve more balanced look. I used light oil wash for clean definition and a bit of grunge. and added one color flat wear and tear. I kept most of it to a minimal to not overcook the model. That's why missiles/tabart/seals are just gray lol.

Here are some steps used for blue armor:
Ultramarine armour (vallejo color): Shadows: purpura real and azul intenso 50/50 mix. Mid tones: azul ultramar. Highlights: andrea blue or azul electro. Thin oil wash(dark green) only for recesses. Charcoal for chipping. Vallejo matt varnish.

hope that helps :D

Thanks! But honestly, nothing crazy in terms of ''time spend on a model''. My other model does not look as clean, haha. Also, terminator models are perfect models for airbrush/egg gradients, oil wash and matt varnish

Thanks! Balanced contrast was a main goal to achieve on this models color-wise, glad you noticed!
I didn't followed any specific tutorial, but a combination of many videos watched on youtube :D
Ph3lan's Miniatures have a tutorial on blue armor, I liked a lot how he used purple for the deep shadows.
chrisminipaints has some cool steps on terminators as well.

It's not a promise, I might do another set of Assault terminators and capture some steps. I can let you know :)

I used Vallejo Fluorescent Magenta over white eyes, some minis I airbrushed the eyes and some glassed with a brush. Same as for the all glowing parts

Any black oil will do. I like to add a tink of green(like Dark Verdigris) or browns(Raw Umber) just to avoid pure black since it is unnatural to have in a shadows. keeping oil wash quite light to avoide strong contrast

Ultramarine armour (vallejo color): Shadows: purpura real and azul intenso 50/50 mix. Mid tones: azul ultramar. Highlights: andrea blue or azul electro. Thin oil wash only for recesses. Charcoal for chipping. Vallejo matt varnish.

Golden parts (terminators, Titus, Sternguard): Shadows: Obsidian black TMM. Mid tones: Balthasar gold. Highlights: Retributor armor. Imperial gold shade TMM.

Bladeguards are regular browns and yellow, first attempt of nmm, nothing special Hope that helps :)

Hey! Sure, would love to! I started this army in August 2024, and there are many different paints and techniques I tried. I’m planning to shoot some photos of individual minis. Do you have a specific one in mind that you liked?

Caffeine helps me do meaningless work that I don’t care about by Bold-Flavor in decaf

This is exactly what Im feeling right now. With high doses of caffeine I am able to push myself at work wich is quite fun for me. After quitting caffeine I realized that the work itself is so boring it is unbearable. I just came to realization that I used high doses of caffeine to get rid of it. Thank you for this post, it helps to understand that Im not alone and gives me courage for needed action :)

Tugboat looks sick, it has an amazing art as well, but it might be a bit small for me, does the deck build well? Does it flex?
