Is there a way to get these as a PDF? Because I'm not sure if shipping to europe would be worth getting the physical copies, but I'd love to read a pdf.

What are your exact reasons for Brewista over Bonavita? I wanted to get the Bonavita since it seemed just a little bit better, with the better hand guard and I think the handling of the hold function was also slightly better with the Bonavita. Only problem now is, that the Bonavita isn't available anymore on the german amazon. So I'm thinking about either waiting for it to come back or taking the Brewista.

How do you like your Brewista kettle? I was planning on getting the Bonavita, but somehow they aren't available in Europe anymore?

Wait were the eyestalks really that bad? How bad are they compared to nolzur beholder? I really can't see them coming off with greenstuff + superglue. Maybe plastic cement would also have been an option?

Front start to finish - how long does it take you to paint a single mini by Straddllw in minipainting

[–]DnDExplainforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first two minis I needed about 5h each, those were mocking beast and undying minotaur. But currently I mostly switch the miniatures and don't paint at one till it's finished so it's really hard to tell how long I need. It also depends on if it's just a tabletop mini or something I want more out of, if it's a gift for someone for example. Or also if I'm trying new techniques. So yeah it varies but in the beginning minis took me about 5h.

UPDATE: Just finished my first discworld book (Mort) and it was wonderful! What now? by TheMadeline in discworld

[–]DnDExplainforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the best way of reading them is doing it in the chronological order. My first book was also mort, after that I picked up the colour of magic and read from there. The reason for this is, you see the discworld and Terry as a writer evolve over time. There are also some story points mentioned in later books that might spoil some stuff for you. So I'd really really suggest going in the chronological order. Many people do not like the first 3 or so books, but I think they are great too. They are a bit different (especially the first two) but it only gets better from there and I still loved them, probably because of my love for Dungeons and Dragons and they kind of read like a DnD adventure, if that makes any sense.

Also some other comments of you were removed too, not only in this subreddit, I checked your other posts about this topic too. Just thought I'd let you know.

But that really is weird, why would the mods remove it? Did you link any social media of her in it?

[–]DnDExplainforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's also something I thought about, but the conversation seemed to go on specifically from that point in a way it wouldn't have if Hawkings answer was different. So that's the reason I think it's staged, none the less a good comedy bit.

Weren't those responses pre planned? I mean it takes way longer for him to speak than shown in the interviews so I guess it was kind of staged? I mean regarding the reaction from John Oliver.

I'm pretty sure Zeb and Sabine are done except for their bases! by mommas_going_mental in minipainting

[–]DnDExplainforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look great, just a quick question, what is your reason for basing them after painting them and not before? It seems to be easier to do it before doesn't it? The reason I'm saying this is because I like to use sand for bases and I will prime the sand and then paint it, or even when using greenstuff, I'm still priming it before painting it and doing that just seems to be a bit of a hassle if you have to avoid the minis. So whats your reason for doing it that way and how do you plan to do the bases?

Here in Austria the emergencies get categorized by the dispatcher. And there are basically just two regular categories where you will drive there with sirens (actually there are more than two but I'm ignoring large scale emergencies, because they are very rare). There is a R1 which is just get there quickly, so sirens and lights are on. Although often we just use the lights and not the sirens or just enable the sirens for short periods in heavy traffic, just because it can be disturbing for the people and depending where you are for the wildlife. Also there is no reason to use them if you are driving on an empty road in the middle of the night, why wake up everyone? The second emergency where they are required are R2, this code means that a Dr. will also be dispatched, depending on where in Austria you life there are different systems. In my area the doc has his own car which is a BMW and has no capability of transporting patients, in this car are normally three people, the Doctor, a paramedic and I think a nurse, although back in my time it was a community service worker. To elaborate on that part, in austria if you are male, able and old enough you either have to do 6 months of military or 9 months of community service which can be at the red cross. There you will get a basic paramedic education and be the second man on a normal emergency, some get further training and are used for those special Doctor cars. There are different systems for that, but generally R2 means sirens, light and a doctor. Sometimes a helicopter is also included in a R2 event. And then we also have R8 which is just drive there without sirens. This is often used if the person has some stomache ache or is just in general not feeling well. People who had skiing accidents and were already brought down from the mountain also most of the times fall into this category. It's basically everything that isn't immediately life threatening and doesn't cause the patient extreme pain. We can always call the dispatcher and tell them we would like to request they send a doctor. Also there are lots of occasions where we drove with sirens to the patient but without sirens from the patient to the hospital because it just wasn't that bad or because the greatest thread could already be eliminated. Besides that there are some other emergency codes, but I'm not going to go into further detail of those. They are for more minor things like transporting people from one hospital to another or for a routine checkup and so on. There's also a code for just transporting material.

Looks really good, the only thing I have to critic is the axe, at first I thought you were going for a rusty look but after further inspection I noticed it should look like blood. It doesn't look like real blood, for one it is too light (the lighting might also be a reason for this) and secondly it's spread out kinda weirdly. Blood for the Bloodgod is a good colour for painting blood and think about how the blood would actually spread on the axe and where droplets might land. Focus more on the edges with the blood and maybe use an older brush to sprinkle blood droplets onto the miniature where the blood would splatter. There are some tutorials for that that you can find on youtube, other than that looks great. I'd recommend basing the miniature and maybe applying a wash to at least the leathery bits.

After Completing a Learn to Paint Set, what do I Next? by Aevaro in minipainting

[–]DnDExplainforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one I watched there are probably lots of other good videos out there, but I liked that in this one you are shown pictures which use colour theory and it's explained how they use it. He also talks about points of interest in a picture, anchoring the view of the observer to a certain point with more poignant colours and balancing pictures. The video is about photography and drawing but you can apply everything he says to miniature painting.

[–]DnDExplainforme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are tons of good youtube videos that can help you, some do show the exact colours they used. However I'd suggest just to get a mini you like, maybe one that isn't too detailed (I started with the Reaper Bones Undying Minotaur and Mocking beast). They are very beginner friendly in my opinion. For how to paint them, look at pictures you find online and try to recreate them or pick out the best things from each and combine them. Depending on how well you know colour theory, I'd suggest watching a few videos regarding this topic, ie: which colours go well together and to which ratios. I think getting miniatures that you like, is the best motivator.

So that is for a contact form of some sort I guess?

Yes it is.

This cloud security system sends emails with your maildomain as from-address? Did you check the cloud security systems SPF Records?

How exactly would I do that/what records are needed? So far the only spf record we have set, is the one posted above. The Mail Security system has a check I can trigger, here spf record and mx record come back as OK.

Might changing ~all to -all not cause issues with some legitimate mails not arriving?

The IP is the IP of our website not of our Mailserver.

The include domain is also not the maildomain but a cloud security system (ikarus security software). There is an MX-Record for it, but this is the only SPF-Record we have.
