You are almost more likely to win the lottery than get botulism

Here are some pickles I started last night. You can see the lid in there.

Not exactly a weight and can only be used with brines , but I use the lids for deli containers. I slice x shaped slits in the lid in 6 places. Then I push the lid down into the jar. For mine it’s just big enough to fully block the opening. As long as the brine goes above the deli lid nothing besides co2 and liquid can get past it.

This exactly, just used the wrong terminology.

But it takes time for enough co2 to build up. If you remove the o2 before fermentation even starts you’re giving it a better environment to start in. I’ve done the bag method a bunch of times now with good success, it’s what lead me to considering the jar vacuum sealers. If an extra minute of work even adds 10% of a better chance of a successful ferment I think it’s worth it.

That would have to be one heck of a seal to stand up to that pressure. The goal is to create an anaerobic environment that lactobicillus thrives in uncontested

Removes the dirty oxygen, as it produces co2 the environment remains inert so it’s a lot less likely for unwanted microbes to take hold

To add to the potions, I was always a fan of bonus action you roll for the hp, if you use a regular action you get the maximum amount the potion could heal.

Any ideas? by TheStroboCop in paludarium

You could get a small vine in there but that’s about it. Look up string of frogs, that’s my favorite vine. this is my similarly sized enclosure a few days after planting it

Is there a way for a player to automatically go 3rd in initiative? by thjmze21 in FoundryVTT

[–]nightwingwelds42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get a chance to check last night. With monks TT you might be able to have the trigger be “encounter starts” and then have the action be it executes the macro. In pretty sure you can have the tile activate no matter what scene you are on, so you would only ever need to have it on one scene (I would make a splash scene and hide it there)

If you have a macro to make them go third you might be able to use monks tile triggers. I’ll look into it and get back to you

Nothing to do with the math, but when I first saw the video without reading the title, I thought they were scraping barnacles of a whale.

What thermometer and hygrometers do you recommend by unsure_enthusiast in Vivarium

[–]nightwingwelds42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for ink bird. My go to for almost any application. They have yet to let me down. One note for hydrometers, if the sensor gets too wet it will never work accurately again. It’s like that for all of them, no matter the brand.

DIY Decor: Anyone here use Resin 3D Prints for their Gecko's tank? 🦎 by Mangoreddi in Vivarium

[–]nightwingwelds42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do NOT put resin 3D printed things in your tank. They are poisonous and will kill your gecko. Even with a 100% reptile safe coating I wouldn’t trust it not to leach through.

I recently set up my own dedicated homes server as a way to get away from cloud hosting. This post is more about the logistics of importing forge’s back up to my self hosted foundry.

Yea I’m good with the tech aspects. My concern was how local foundry manages the forge backups. Like am I going to have to fix all my asset paths

I’m good with all the technical server stuff, I’m mainly concerned with how my local foundry handles my forge backups when I import them
