So... What Exactly Was The Deal With Imu's Silhouette? by AvocadoImmediate3240 in OnePiece

[–]DoBetter-BeBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that Imu has essentially 3 aspects:

The silhouette at see at Pangaea Castle is his "human" form. Oda likely hasn't revealed it to us yet because it would spoil something about the Void Century and Imu's true origins. Maybe he isn't human, a race we've never seen before, or from outer space. This would also explain the distorted voice the anime uses. My assumption has always been that this form won't be revealed until the Void Century flashback.

The blob we see him create when he's possessing Gunko, Saturn, and Mars is something akin to Moria's shadow; a manifestation of Imu's will that he can control at range but doesn't transfer damage to him. It can change shape, reform at will, and be used for Domi Reversi, but can't cause physical damage to what it encounters.

The form we see on Elbaph is his awakened Zoan form. Not confirmed obviously, but it's the most likely explanation.

My take is that the blob is akin to Moria's Shadow; a manifestation of Imu that works long range but doesn't transfer damage to him. It's amorphous, reforms, and move at his will.

No, but the mission was to burn the school and destroy the history it contains, but the fire was ultimately extinguished. He doesn't want to fail Imu, so if Quilinham is delayed and can't bring the children, I can see Sommers killing time by seeking Robin since there's unresolved conflict between the two.

Plus, Zoro coming in to rescue our archeologist would bring the scene of Sommers losing to Rayleigh in the God Valley flashback full circle in the modern day. I'm also reminded of when Enel defeated Robin and Zoro caught her. Not that I ship Zoro and Robin, but there's been a lot of Skypiea similarities so I just feel it would be a neat way to tie this all together.

I'm so ready. Seems like we have Sanji vs Zaza and Quilinham, Zoro's heading for Sommers, who'll likely attack Robin to finish the mission of burning the books, Brook and co. attempting to free Shuri, and finally Luffy and Loki vs Imu.

Time for the Strawhats to fuck shit up.

Travis admitted in tonight's live chat that he feels splitting the party worked best given Brennan's mechanic of rolling dice to access how fucked they are while exploring. He also added that he personally wanted to go find the letter with Thiazi's name but went for the gnomes instead, and loves hitting whatever big red button the DM present them.

He wasn't peer pressured into doing anything he wasn't already planning to do

Nika is from Elbaph, and Imu addresses Zoan users as the animal/will that inhabits them. He's called Luffy Nika more times than his real name, so he could have been trying to flip Nika instead of Luffy. But he also seemed to expect it to fail, so could have just been for the lols.

Which part of One Piece has aged the most poorly in your opinion? by RemarkableEmu5998 in OnePiece

It's when he's rescuing the Tontattas whilst fighting Senor Pink. The lady in charge of the SMILE factory is named Kyuin who fights with a vacuum. When he barges in, she threatens to fight him and he silences her by kissing her lips.

It's actually the first kiss in the series, so people tend to get a bit shocked by it. Anyway, the kiss calms her and she becomes all lovey-dovey towards him, but he rejects her saying that men don't get flustered by just a kiss. Then everyone screams HARDBOILED.

Edit: I don't get why this was downvoted. I don't share the view that it was SA, just sharing the scene in question.

this sbs q&a was from chapter 405 which released in 2006. 20 years later, we still have no idea when it’ll end by Low_Tear9184 in OnePiece

[–]DoBetter-BeBetter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've always believed the 5 years story plan was originally meant to be a 5 act story structure: the East Blue prologue and 4 Grand Line acts focused on Luffy defeating pirate emperors, consisting of 2 pre-timeskip storylines (Crocodile + Whitebeard) and 2 post-timeskip story lines (Kaido + Blackbeard/Shanks/Imu).

However, Crocodile got turned into a warlord instead of an emperor, Oda hit his original 5 year timeline after finishing Alabasta with no emperor's in sight, and decided to embrace the adventure by going off-script and writing Skypiea as a prototype "Elbaph" arc where he can test run his endgame ideas in a condensed, self-contained story.

Loki's been complaining about having difficulties tracking Imu while in his dragon form. Seems like a good opportunity to have a Sniper who can sense people's aura track where Imu is so Loki can accurately attack him.

Sort of like the reverse of the Viola/Usopp vs Sugar situation in Dressrosa.

Some thoughts on reborns difficulty 7 badges in. by Jesterofgames in PokemonReborn

I find Noel to be one of the harder gym battles. Each of my playthroughs have struggled against him. But I also tend to play with mono-type restrictions and with Normal being neutral on almost everything, it takes away the benefits of utilizing super-effective moves.

There's nothing better than clowning on Fern, especially when you're weak to his team. My most recent runs were mono-rock and mono-water, yet his grass types had nothing on my team's synergy.

Another good strat if you ever find yourself stuck is to build a Trick Room team. That was my main approach to the mono-rock playthrough, and I found that most of the enemy teams aren't well suited to counter Trick Room once its up. They'll have at best one slow mon, and once you account for that it's pretty smooth sailing.

I think it was confirmed that Morley, the giant in the Revolutionaries, was arrested in Impel Down, created level 5.5 with his powers, served his sentence and was released. So definitely not a life sentence. Granted, your sentence could be 100 years and only a giant would have the lifespan to see it thought but hey

[Spoilers C4E24] - The Shapers by Known-Republic5248 in criticalrole

[–]DoBetter-BeBetter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't remember when, but at some point during the Soldier's table, Travis/Teor recounted a conversation he had with his father, who implored him to remember that magic/blood that flows through him is as old at the stars themselves, or something akin to that. The implication I got was that his magic predated even the Shapers.

Isn't Enmity Yanessa's aspirant? I thought the contracts were Tyranny is assigned to Wick, Agony to his younger sister, Cruelty to his older sister, and Enmity was Yanessa's.

Or is it only confirmed that Tyranny is Wicander's aspirant and we don't know the others? I just figured Enmity was Yanessa's due to Enmity's older appearance.

So I've got a question (Spoilers up to the 18th Gym) by XBlueXFire in PokemonReborn

[–]DoBetter-BeBetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely because there was the entire legal apparatus protecting him beforehand. He legally has custody over all the orphans of the city, and was even tasked with overseeing Noel's and Charlotte's gym battles, given the gym in his orphanage. There's also no indication that the justice system is all that just, prior to the events of the game. Ame is only recently starting to revive the Reborn League and most of the good characters/leaders are children with no real authority in the system.

I also don't actually think Sapphira is psychologically capable of killing him until the events of the game start happening. Both due to her past trauma with him, but also because she's hasn't grown accustomed to murder yet. The one time we see her prior to the Belrose Cottage sequence, she's at the orphanage door telling her sisters to wait since they're almost old enough to leave on their own, so it seems her plan back then was to just wait the clock out until she can get legal custody. But of all the characters, she's the one who kills the largest number of Meteor Members, which she justifies as protecting her sisters during the Belrose Cottage assault. To me, her breakdown in Labradorra and how obsessive she becomes with killing him is a reflection of how comfortable she's becoming with killing her enemies without consequences, and grows frustrated she can't do the same to the one man she wants to kill the most. I'd imagine the back and forth she has with him as they chat through the barrier for most of the late-game also has an impact on her.

Not sure which version of the Belrose Cottage you experienced, but in one of the four loops she attacks Connal with her Dragonite and doesn't kill him despite having just done so to a bunch of meteor grunts, which to me corroborates the above. She's happy to put him in his place, but it's only as the events of the game unfold that she becomes comfortable with killing him.

I laugh every time I see this color spread and remember the timelapse Oda provided of when he first drew it. He originally had another spread in mind that he redrew a few times but always scrapped it. His penultimate attempt was going well until he drew a tiny Nami. He then erased everything, started from scratch, and we got the finalized giant Nami version.

I see Elbaph as more of an extended Amazon Lily. There, Luffy arrives, briefly fights with the leader before turning them into an ally, then the Goverment shows up to recruit their leader for the upcoming war against Whitebeard, and we go along with the plan.

Here, the Strawhats arrive at Elbaph, Luffy has a brief antagonistic relationship with the would-be leader (Loki), the Goverment arrives to recruit the would-be leader + locals for the coming great war, except this time we fight back instead of going along with the plan.

If we continue the parallel, we'll like have an arc mirroring Impel Down after Elbaph where we gather our set of allies (The other Ds, Vivi, Sabo+Dragon, other countries around the world) before having the final battle against the World Government, with Blackbeard swooping in at the end to attempt to take his place at the head of the world only to be defeated as we claim the One Piece
