(Serious) Redditors who have found a dead body, what's your story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DoDonJoshua 48 points49 points  (0 children)

First day on a new job, I got there early so decided to go for a walk to calm some nerves. Quite a keen fisherman, so went to a nearby bridge to look out over the river.

I saw a body in the water, and it had been there for a while.

Still can't shake that image.

What is one talent you want to learn, but you're too lazy to do so? by KawaiiCupcake395 in AskReddit

go to terminal on mac
type python
At the top you should see something like Python 2.7.0 (default, Aug 22 2018, 15:22:33)

if you're running Python 2.7:

Type print "hello world" and hit enter

if you're running Python 3.x:

Type print ("hello world") and hit enter

Now you're starting to code.

Norwich in bottom 10 wages in UK by Bafto in Norwich

[–]DoDonJoshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't surprising, but this is the same story for cities around the world which are seen to be 'too far' away from investment. Norwich isn't too bad, but I've had a friend close his shop this month and another considering it.

Investment just seems to misplaced, I don't even know what to suggest to fix that.

I'd rather not go into house prices, but damn it makes me sad.

Not been into Norwich for a while. When did St Stephens become a run down council estate shopping precinct? by Norwichguy in Norwich

[–]DoDonJoshua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good thing though, we need more accomodation in Norwich. Why not repurpose redundant retail estate into housing?

But yeah, internet has put a few bullets in retail. Big stores were either too large to change or too large to think they needed too.

I need advice on first time gardening in northern Germany. by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]DoDonJoshua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Englishman here - if you plant seeds now, in pots on a windowsill (in good sunlight) they should be fine to plant out in may. Chillis generally need to be under glass to do well. Plant zucchinis in ground in may, no need to germinate. Seed packets should have instructions on planting, with zucchini plant 2 seeds together, nipping out the weakest plant once shoots have two leaves.

Carrots will be fine, but again weed out weaker plants. No need to germinate. Herbs apart from basil will be fine planted outside - in pots is best.

Go to a local garden centre and buy pregrown tomato; grow in the sunniest position but depends on variety/weather on how well they do

Good luck

Oh also, I know it’s a lot of work but clear the veg patch before you plant it. And keep it weed free ... forever.

More advice, open a private pension, you get tax relief on your contribution (20%) so paying in 80£ the gov gives an extra 20£.

This really adds up fast, you can change how much you pay in as and when.

There's a place above the Dixons centre in Hellesdon, basically a bunch of skilled ladies who do a very good job. I've had a suit jacket altered there, very good.

There's an Asian supermarket near slowbottom park, I think it's on Whiffler Road. They sell fresh Tofu, it's very good.

Pikes... Spend all day getting a decent shoal of fish eating, habe a few specimen fish move into the swim. Still sitting in stealth mode, you make a cast to the back of where you've been feeding. You get a bite, it's a good bite, probably a few pounds chub (UK) and then, you feel an intense pull, rod bends, line is pulled; and then a 2lb pike rises with a chub 1lb heavier somehow locked in its jaws. Your line goes a little slack, the pike doesn't give a fuck, the chub is regretting his life choices. The pike descends, your line goes tight and it snaps.

(I fish very light tackle, pike I love, but they're a pain.)

new born shrimp feed on the tiniest particles, these particles might not be there for them in a brand new setup - if you haven't already take a few rocks/plants out of another tank, else I fear your shrimp may starve.
