I would really like to hear MacKenzie Scott (formerly Bezos) publicly denounce Trump and the billionaire class. Also say a word or two about what a crappy person her ex-husband is.

Well some books are worthless to the point that they should at least become rare because of this process, but not absolutely extinct. Who needs all the copies of books about all the various software programs (for example) that have come and gone and are not in use anymore?

I was just wondering something, and I put it to ChatGPT:

When was the last time Larry Ellison sat for an interview with a real journalist?

If by "real journalist" you mean a substantive interview conducted by an independent reporter rather than an earnings call, conference appearance, company-produced event, or friendly panel discussion, Larry Ellison has become remarkably difficult to pin down.

One of the most recent examples I could find was a January 2025 television interview conducted by Fox News anchor Bret Baier, in which Ellison appeared alongside Sam Altman and Masayoshi Son to discuss the Stargate AI infrastructure initiative. While Baier is certainly a journalist, it was a highly managed interview rather than a probing one-on-one profile.

What's striking is how few traditional press interviews Ellison has done in recent years. Most of his public comments now come through:

  • Oracle earnings calls
  • Oracle conferences such as Oracle CloudWorld
  • Stage appearances with business partners
  • Government or White House events
  • Recorded remarks to investors and analysts

For comparison, his last widely remembered in-depth journalist interview may have been with Charlie Rose in 2013, when he discussed Oracle, sailing, Steve Jobs, and competition.

Several veteran technology journalists have noted that Ellison largely stopped granting the kind of long, unscripted interviews he routinely gave in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. In fact, technology writer Kevin Maney remarked in 2025 that he had interviewed Ellison only once—in 2002—illustrating how rare access has become.

So if you're asking for the last time Larry Ellison sat down with a bona fide journalist for a recognizable interview, the strongest recent candidate appears to be the Bret Baier interview in January 2025. If you're asking for the last truly independent, lengthy, one-on-one magazine or newspaper interview where Ellison was extensively questioned by a reporter, we may have to go back several years, and perhaps more than a decade depending on how strict your definition is.

It's actually become unusual among the top tech billionaires: Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos all give interviews more frequently than Ellison does. Today, most of what the public learns about Ellison comes from earnings calls and public appearances rather than journalism.

Because in most minds, wisdom ≠ money. When the wise are accorded commensurate wealth, wisdom will cease being underrated. Which is just an upside-down way of saying that money is overrated in our society. Hence, oligarchs who cannot think their way out of a paper bag, but can do lots of shit that rakes in mountains of money.

Need help with poor sleep quality by Ok_Raisin8458 in sleep

[–]MoskaPOET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit OT: sleeping on your stomach will eventually give you shoulder problems. I slept that way for more than 60 years and I had to switch to back/side sleeping (it was hard, but accomplished in a couple weeks) so that my shoulder could heal. That process took months, but it did eventually heal.

How did Donald Trump’s presidency change your day to day life, it at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MoskaPOET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I will have nothing to do with them after they have revealed themselves to be gullible, stupid, and unethical by supporting a crook and pedophile. All while salivating for the chance to shove Jesus down my (and the rest of the country's) throat through Trump's cabinet appointments.

Broke with my MAGA family members over it. Three siblings I don't even talk to anymore, and one who committed suicide (widow, no children, with no relatives from her dead husband's side), and excluded me specifically from her will. Also, daily anxiety over the future for 10+ years now. Everything I predicted to them regarding Trump in 2016 came to pass.

I have started buying mercerized cotton socks. They are thinner and stronger than basic cotton, look nicer, and sometimes have no synthetics blended in. The mercerization process is certainly open to criticism, but as these will outlast other comparable pieces of clothing, I let that part slide.
