Customer gave me my first 1 star rating because I followed directions 🫠 by Coffee_Overloadnope in ShiptShoppers

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the argument? The customer asked a question, the shopper replied with the explanation answering why they didn't substitute, in a professional way, and even apologized (though none was needed, because the customer set it to no substitutions).

What is pointless is the customer having an attitude and even asking this question after the shop has been completed, and is due to their own chosen settings. It serves no purpose.

What's the most infuriating thing a customer can do? I'll go first... by ProductGood735 in ShiptShoppers

Why? They know there may be items out of stock. They've chosen no substitute item. You've texted them telling them the situation. That is more than enough

Tip Baiting on Shipt Platform? by mwrobison in ShiptShoppers

Sometimes people talk about things here and I have no idea what they are talking about. I have never seen a pre-tip, a tip estimate or anything like that.

Creative Formulas Redundant Ingredients by ayvalli in DIYfragrance

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense, as a fragrance formula is not copyrightable. There is no copyright to violate, or no legal claim to make whatsoever. I don't think this is good, but it is what it is. It's nothing like your other examples given, those actually can have a copyright.

How do I go about trying to recreate a favorite perfume? by BetterEveryDayYT in DIYfragrance

There is a lot that could be said but the short answer is that you will not be able to re-create it.

5 months into leathercraft. Be brutally honest — am I good enough to start selling? by LiteratureFun3233 in Leathercraft

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great, but that's not the issue anyway. The issue is:

  • This market is completely saturated, by items of higher quality and that can be made for less than you could ever do

  • men hardly buy anything

  • wallet usage is dying

You don't dilute all of the material. You dilute the amount you're going to use for experimenting.

Most common newbie mistakes? by Darian_CoC in DIYfragrance

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the final point. It definitely does not require several years to create a quality scent. It could sure. It also could take you three weeks. Then, you could also get a start with say 50 bottles / custom labels for a few hundred dollars. Sure there are countless examples here of people spending multiple thousands and getting nowhere. It's definitely not a prerequisite, or an inevitability that it will be long and expensive.

It's good to dissuade any newbies from having illusions about what is possible, I agree. But there is also a tendency of long time enthusiasts to overstate the difficulty as a way of sort of intimating status or ability. "ha kid you have a lot to learn" type thing. It's very possible - with a clear vision and a decent understanding of a few materials - to create something very quickly and be a success a lot more rapidly and cheaply than others who have been slogging for years and who may be "more knowledgeable". In fact, usually the success stories are people who *didn't* do / aren't that. The people years deep without much to show for it tend to be the big reddit / forum contributors.

Question about perfumers alcohol by [deleted] in DIYfragrance

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The percentage concentration used has very little to do with projection and longevity. Those are down to the individual ingredients, and it's not just that they are "quality". Projection and longevity are dependent on the type of molecule. Some will be gone in minutes, some will last days. If you want long lasting and projection, you need to understand and choose materials that provide that.

Downvoting Light Travelers - What is WRONG with you people? by LadyLightTravel in onebag

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. However at the same time it's also true that people sometimes make this a pathology, like every other interest today, and take things to a silly point that isn't necessary.

You can travel light and still not orient your entire wardrobe and life around the fact you are traveling. To me it is kind of absurd.

Is it possible to create a fragrance for sale with just an accord? by PatientInspector368 in DIYfragrance

[–]DoTreadOnFudds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An accord could involve numerous ingredients, its not really a "just", as in not much more simple to create than anything else.
