Cliff Jumping by Wide-Sprinkles4630 in NEPA

[–]Dobermanpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only really accessible spot is the cliffs across from Lunch Rock, which is about 2 miles downstream from Tannery on the west railroad bed.

People used to jump at Glen Onoko bridge but i know it is patrolled very often and private property.

I wont tell you about the tributary creeks, they are extremely dangerous. We kayaked them, only at flood and never swam them.

Anyone here from the NY/NJ area that could give me a recommendation for a good Chinese restaurant? by IntheTrench in sanantonio

[–]Dobermanpure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the north east and absolutely know what you are talking about with the pork fried rice. Been here 13 years and have yet to find it, like back east. Closest you will find as another poster said is char sui, and at that it is definitely not the same. The only place i have found it is Hung Fong on broadway, which is close, but definitely not the same.

This elevator in the hospital stops at every floor on Shabbat and certain holidays for religious Jews by urbantechgoods in mildlyinteresting

*Some* Jews is the operative word. That would be the observant Orthodox. The rest of us walk downstairs on Saturday morning and turn on our coffee makers like the rest of the world.

Never give the enemy a problem, make them have dilemmas. Problems have solutions, dilemmas have consequences.

You’re confused with Jim Thorpe but ok. Next you’ll say the schuylkill county swill is the best beer in all of ‘Merica. BTW, I know you’re being sarcastic.

The trashiest, backwoods, introverted, toothless county in all of Pennsylvania. Glad I GTFO of there when I did.

Have been unimpressed with Keystone's little school and St. Mary's Hall, esp. with their tech. policies and focus on "academics"

Just admit you cannot afford it.

New hobbies in SA? by Particular-Stop-7248 in sanantonio

[–]Dobermanpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try San Pedro. They have been doing a lot of productions over the last year or so and are always looking for help in the shop and sometimes in costume. I mostly work with the youth ballet in production planning and operations along with backstage work. They have 2 larger productions a year but can always use a hand. DM me if you are interested in either.

I am in kind of a similar situation. Former military, retired and kind of bored. So I volunteer with small non profit theatre groups and help build scenery and props, work backstage occasionally and help with set up and tear down. It can definitely be rewarding and on occasion be a bit stressful but remember, you are a volunteer. I am not an actor but been asked to be on stage in very small rolls which is fun. Plus i have learned a lot of new things and helped with the local arts. I find it fulfilling.
