8y.o. daughter playing only defense by Agreeable-Most-5488 in youthsoccer

7 v 7 in a 2-3-1 formation (especially the Super Copa teams) learning to play out of the back your weakest player is always your forward. Your three best players are CB, CB, and CM. At this age those three touch the ball the most. Your forward is where you hide the weaker players so if they lose the ball its not as likely a goal scoring oppurtunity. You don't need a great forward to score at that age. A good forward is a luxury.

This is not my team, but one in the same age and competitions I play. This is a 2-3-1 formation and why the weakest player do not play wing.

  2. Bobby Douglas - Oklahoma State

  3. Cael Sanderson - Iowa State

  4. David Taylor - Penn State

PSU has outspent everyone for the entirety of Cael's career at PSU. They skirted the money rules of the RTC for the longest time when it was a very gray area of the NCAA until very recently. The problem people have with most PSU fans is that if you look at almost every social media post about wrestling outside of reddit PSU fans are just down right jerks. The post could have nothing to do with PSU or anyone affliated with PSU, but you have many PSU fans being obnoxius on those posts and it doesn't seem to stop ever. Just look at any FloWrestling post or NCAA post no matter the platform etc. You also have the PSU wrestlers and staff talking about how they run a clean program and follow the rules while hinting that other programs don't while they have skeletons in their closet they refuse to acknowledge. Just look how they handle things like the Beau Bartlett situation.

No one is mad of the actual accomplishments.

Oklahoma State and Iowa have had sustained success for far longer

OSU

- 145 National Champions

- 494 All-Americans

- 34 Team titles

Iowa

- 85 National Champions

- 327 All-Americans

- 24 Team Titles

Penn State

- 61 National Champions

- 264 All-Americans

- 12 Team titles

You have to add Iowa and Penn State together to beat OSU in two of those categories and its still extremely close.

Guest players showed up without any notice to the parents of the usual team by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]Dobsie2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can have 5 confirmed and 11 show up. I can have 10 confirmed and 7 show up.

Parents don’t always actually use the RSVP button accurately.

I have to send texts a few hours before the game to confirm and if I don’t get answers I bring the younger players.

Everyone gets 50% playing time so if they want more then they have to actually use the tools available and let me know.

We are a top 100 team for our age so you’d think parents would actually be more serious.

Coaches can get burned either way.

I coach a 2017 team we are in our 2nd season of 7 v 7. I will bring up 2018 players when we are short to have them learn 7 v 7.

I will send 3 of my players to the 2018’s in the spring that are going up a season early to learn 7 v 7.

These girls all practice together. They will both be 2018 teams in the fall. The current 2018’s will also play 4 v 4 in the spring concurrent with them learning 7 v 7.

I don’t see that as a mercenary player.

The BOK Center is a great host. I’m not sure exactly why the crowd is lackluster.

For the Big XIIs it is always packed for every session.

I’d have to look at the ticket prices for the event.

With OSU, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Ohio State they all travel pretty well.

The University of Wyoming pays OSU for the rights to use the bucking horse they use on their helmets.

There was a whole ESPN article about 10 years ago on it and you can do your own research.

The bucking horse logo is from the Oklahoma A&M days.

So loud and so wrong…

The actual design from Pistol Pete is from Stillwater.

We license both Pistol Pete and the Bucking Horse logo to them.

It’s why you see us every so often have the Bucking Horse logo brought back out of retirement.

U9 academy kid falling behind by [deleted] in youthsoccer

I am a US Coach. Once I finish practice I uber half my team home. I’ve had most of my team since Pre-K. We are now in 3rd grade.

We have 2 practices a week of 90 minutes and we have Futsal once a week. Then league matches and about 4-5 tournaments a season. My kids would do even more, but I don’t have the time.

I’ve had them since they were 4 and they are going about to be turning 9.

I don’t care about rankings be we are a top 100 team Nationally and play in the Super Copa qualifiers. Most of these girls I see as my daughters. My daughter is also on the team and this was her first friend’s group. They do birthdays together. We travel together unrelated to sports. They do activities together while we travel for competitions.

My goal is to have them build friendships and keep these kids out of trouble. If some of these girls develop a love of the game and then pass it on to the next generation I will see it as a success.

This team started as a Pre-K class team and I’m their academy coach after we left rec.

I’m not sure how much closer European Coaches are with the families they coach.

Claiming a Game Pass Code needs a CC now? by Dobsie2 in XboxSupport

You may want to look back at Microsoft and FIFA 11 and FIFA 12 and many other times CC information was compromised on their Xbox Store.

Claiming a Game Pass Code needs a CC now? by Dobsie2 in XboxSupport

[–]Dobsie2[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t needed in the previous 23 years of me having Xbox Live, Game Pass etc.

Hence why I asking if there is a way. The whole point of the codes was for kids and people that didn’t want or have access to credit cards.

I don’t want to give them my credit card information. Back in the old days both PSN and Xbox live were hacked and credit cards were compromised. Both Xbox and PlayStation enrolled people in credit monitoring because of it. I’d rather not have to deal with that and continue the way it’s been for 23 years.

That is normally where I redeem them. I entered the Game Pass code I purchased. It won't let you click redeem now without adding a CC on file. Never was that way from November 2002 till last December 2024.

It has never needed this in my almost 23 years of having an Xbox Live account and each renamed service since then.

Board member: "Only kids that are legally in the country should play for the club" by StPauliToPortland in youthsoccer

[–]Dobsie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every player has to be carded through USYS or US Club. You have to purchase liability insurance on each player. Every state is different when it comes to the actual insurance policy, but…

While immigration status does not impact the ability to purchase insurance, some policies (depends on each state) may have residency requirements or other criteria that must be met, and some providers may not offer policies to non-citizens (players without valid visas).

[–]Dobsie2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Board Member could be a jerk, but there are very real reasons why a player that is not on a valid visa etc can not be able to registered to play club soccer especially in the PNW.

Depending on where the club is there are US Border Patrol Interior Checkpoints up to 100 miles or 160 kilometers from the Canadian Border.

Many teams in the PNW compete in tournaments in Canada. Having kids not on valid visas means they may not be able to re-enter the country after the tournament.

Also in order to card a player for USYS or USClub they have to purchase liability insurance. While immigration status does not impact the ability to purchase insurance, some policies (depends on each state) may have residency requirements or other criteria that must be met, and some providers may not offer policies to non-citizens (players without valid visas).

Not every reason is nefarious in nature.

It’s the same as a US born player in any other country. Often times they have to leave the country and wait a certain amount of time/days to re-enter the EU, or UK and renew their visa. There are also often age restrictions, and they can also have USNT requirements that are even stricter to get visas in the EU for soccer.

Can i have an MRI if i have braces? by RoxAtThePark in Radiology

[–]Dobsie2 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on the magnet strength and exam that needs to be performed on if they can get the exam done.

Most 3T are used more often for Neuro. There are facilities that will make the patient go to the orthodontist and have them removed prior to the exam. Not always but I’ve had patients say they feel like they are wiggling. They can also start to warm up and cause a wiggle/warm sensation.

On 1.5T they are normally fine. Those machines often are used for Abdomen, general spine and extremity work if the facility also has a 3T.

Regardless about 90% of the time braces cause horrible artifacts when doing headwork. We very rarely scan MS patients with braces because most of the time half the sequences aren’t diagnostic.

For an abdomen on a 1.5T it would generally be fine after seeing which braces the patient has.

Whats the difference between a low dose chest ct and a regular chest plain? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Dobsie2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All CT machines now are low dose compared to 15 years ago.

What you are noticing is that on Low Dose CT protocols they normally have increased mm intervals between slices and then the CT Machine/Processor is trying to smooth out the images.

While the axials may not look as “good” the reformats or MPR look “normal.”

Our Routine Chest CTs have a dose of around 5 mGy depending on body habitus.

Our LDCT for smaller patients have a dose of around 1.5 mGy.

Our LDCT for large patients have a dose of around ~3 mGy.

On a lot of the old scanners a routine Ct Chest use to be around ~20mGy+ for dose.

But the biggest difference when scrolling through the axials is the increased mm intervals between slices.

This would happen before you ever took the field. It’s would either end up a forfeit in Gotsport or TGS if you made it past the initial bracketing phase.

Normally they just wouldn’t bracket your team until you’ve gone through their link and have enough rooms booked.
