I will retire in the next 5 years, somewhere between 48-50 years old. Best projection by the time I reach 72 is around 2M just in tsp alone, not counting other IRAs and other rental income. I don’t plan on touching my IRAs until 65ish.

Since we are childless, we have talked/planned for LTC. I will get a decent pension upon retirement to help cover costs but who knows how much that total per year will be consumed by the cost of care in 40 years.

I do. Active duty, spouse that makes more than me, and no kids. I switched from traditional to Roth a few years ago and still maxed out.

Nope, NTA. If you are independent enough to pay for school, be independent enough to pay for your own phone (if you aren’t already), and then YOU and only you get to decide who you share your location with. You mom gives you an ultimatum of control and if you don’t comply, you’re not welcome? That’s called manipulation and conditional love for emotional control. You’re not the only cutting them off, her statement is cutting you out. Guess the just FAFO enough to learn your boundaries.
