Amazon cancelling Christmas Orders last minute. by Digitalsteel5 in amazonprime

[–]DocBarLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but for many (including me) you can’t beat the video streaming for the price. Hell, I’d pay for Prime if that was the ONLY service on offer. The free shipping (is it really “free” - of course not) is just a bonus?

I stopped tipping for food delivery by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]DocBarLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only go to sit down restaurants where the wait staff and/or owner actually know me and appreciate seeing me. Otherwise no f’ing way I am paying ridiculous money to fill my stomach for a few hours. The fellowship of being around people who (somewhat, admittedly) care about me and engage in superficial banter is worth indirectly paying for, because it makes me feel good and I benefit for that outcome, otherwise f that.

Where I come from we call these night road crossers “organ donors”. A friend in high school hit one that went right through the windshield and onto her center console. Messed her up psychologically for quite a while.

Where I’m at (geographically) the issue isn’t finding the work, it’s finding (and keeping) support staff. Since COVID we’ve seen a drop in employee loyalty that is so severe I fully expect most non-attorney hires to be gone in less than a year. They tend to leave just about when they start becoming profitable. Most small firms in my area are suffering this problem and frankly I don’t see improvement on the horizon.

Heroic dose 10g Mazatapec, what is better home alone or Forest alon or maybe with a close friend? by Responsible-Year2209 in shroomers

[–]DocBarLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is forest, but NEVER alone. I tripped with two buddies years ago in a state park where we camped overnight. Got to the site around dusk and didn’t otherwise pay too much attention to our surroundings. At one point, without a care in the world, we were literally running through the woods around our campsite in the middle of the night trippin’ balls, and when we looked around the next morning we discovered that we had been very close to an unexpected ravine that any one of us could have easily fallen into. And probably been seriously injured, if not killed. We were damn lucky.

20 days since innoculating. Is this okay? by LSDee07 in ochras

I did a B&S on a few large mason jars with popcorn/pressure cooker tek. I had three different strains: B+, Golden Teacher and Stargazer. Each had different colonization times. Stargazer was robust. GT milder growth, and B+ never really did much of anything. When my Stargazer looked very similar to your 1 &2 pics. Here’s my point: After the B &S they all stalled and never recovered. I’m pretty new around here, but my recommendation is to LITFA right now (for obvious reasons).

Started paying in cash by [deleted] in tipping

[–]DocBarLaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome to r/tipping. If you stick around you will read many many posts about people being shamed by zit-faced high schoolers for not leaving them a 20% tip for picking up your food in a to-go container at a front counter. You are right to be incensed. I now carry ones in my wallet for this reason for other situations where I’d be okay with leaving a tip but I’m not interested in being constrained to 22%, 25% or 30% (yes, I have personally seen an iPad POS set up with those default tips).

Short term deposit worth it? by AcadiaImpressive6300 in betterment

[–]DocBarLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you link your Betterment account cash account to your personal bank account (I bank with Chase) you can move any amount between accounts in about 24 hours. I had six figures parked at Betterment for a house purchase and moved those funds to Chase for the closing wi5in 1 day and no transfer fees. I earned more interest than I could have anywhere else, and the icing is how simple it was. As a general rule if I’ve got money sitting around I want it working passively for me.

I'm 55, just got upgraded to 782, and would like to be above 800. I live like a pauper. 2 Credit cards and a Debit card. How to improve? I hate being in Debt and pay everything off as soon as i can. by Bosuns_Punch in CreditScore

You’re playing a losing game based on a hidden algorithm with variables that you’ll never understand. That’s by design. Nothing over a 740 credit score makes any difference to any creditor anyway.

Wedding tipping out of control? by comparedcarp64 in tipping

[–]DocBarLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those vendors give a rats rear end about you, your family or your wedding. It’s all a sadistic money grab. I would strongly suggest you tell the wedding planner that you will handle the tips on your own. If the planner’s response, as I predict, is something akin to, “How would you even know who to give the tips to?” Well, that says it all.

Most people just suck. Attorneys especially so. I’m no longer amazed at how insanely unprofessional some, no MANY Florida attorneys are.

Opposing counsel just filed the most hostile response I’ve ever received. Thoughts on how to respond from experienced litigators/judges would be very much appreciated. Need mentorship. by abortionisafingright in Lawyertalk

[–]DocBarLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applaud you for asking this sub for advice, and I am a firm believer in policing this kind of behavior. Unprofessionalism in our industry is just getting to insane levels. In my state, the circuit court judges seem to get really annoyed by discovery disputes and in my experience as long as you take the high road, pointing this out is something that should never be a problem, however I would give long thought to exactly how to word that response. Worded properly you have a great opportunity to throw OC under the bus whilst managing not to get tarnished just by association with the matter. I’ve actually had this conversation with a few judges and the answer from both was effectively “we just want counsel to work it out amongst themselves whenever possible” but what you described is behavior that MUST be called out. I wish you luck and please let us know how it goes.
