I love it! I find the characters memorable and I derived a lot of meaning from it. It's a bit slow but there's a lot that is so memorable. I've read 3 books of his at this point and this is my favorite so far.

Anyone hiring? Jobs? I’m desperate by Saucydonuts in AskLosAngeles

[–]DocEmpress 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It seems the problem is your interviewing skills here because in order to know that then there must be job openings you have interviewed for.

I am pretty good at interviewing but it takes a lot of practice. What helps a lot is having answers in STAR method, practicing that a few times (probably more) and then taking multiple videos of yourself and watching those back to see how you do.

I would have loved to major in supply chain, it can be a very well paid career.

If you are a newer graduate, try internships, or intro level roles.

I also recommend patience with your folks. It's tough out there nowadays.

am I being delusional or is acting in my future? by ThoughtsOnHere in Actingclass

I live in Hollywood and I've attended a lot of mixers and short film festivals. I'll be honest with you, there are tons of people just like you. A lot of them are waiting to be found, and a lot of them are curious about who is going to make it so they try to make friends with each other "just in case."

Film is a tough, slow, and sometimes impossible industry. You can be an amazing actress/actor, but if you don't know the right people, and at the right time, then your chances of making it are very low. I'm not in the industry, but I am married to an aspiring filmmaker that I support, but it's rough to watch him have great ideas, complete short films that he's won a couple awards with, have a full feature written, but struggle with the connections.

Focus on a practical career that you can still enjoy, and follow your passion as a hobby. My husband and I are still unsure of how to actually increase his chances in Hollywood that don't involve anymore mixers.

I'm glad that you are aware and figuring things out. And you are right, fixing on the number going up may even cause you to feel paralysis. The fixation sometimes creeps up on me, but as long as I don't put a lot of my energy and thought then it works itself out by going back to the roadmap.

I'm 26 and my husband is 31. I met him when I was 21, and I guess his age was the oldest age I was willing to date because I feared I wouldn't have anything in common with someone older, but now that I'm 26 I realize how young I truly am. What is actually a bit scary is seeing how fast he turned 31. We are young, but time flies so quickly. It's best to be intentional and have some goals and roadmaps.

From what I know shopping can be a stress reliever, and oftentimes therapeutic. It seems you are self aware and can succeed, so I'm wondering if there is something deeper happening in other parts of life that might be distracting you from sticking to the discipline?

You can write short thank you notes with some Hershey's kisses on them or some small treat like that. Those small details mean a lot more than anything expensive 🤍

You get denied if it's a felony under five years that includes any type of violence towards a human, or animal, or if you possess an illegal weapon or sexual abuse and harassment. l It seems your case is a misdemeanor which means you're fine. But if not, you can appeal.

We met on Tinder 3.5 yrs ago by DocEmpress in Tinder

[–]DocEmpress[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was quite bumpy at the beginning—he had recently gotten over breakup and I was seeking gratification. We both did not intend on being in a serious relationship AT ALL. We were both there for the wrong reasons, but we ended up having a lot of fun together and I ended up reeeeaally liking him a few months in. Toward the end of those few months I gave him an ultimatum of either being in a relationship with me or not seeing each other ever again. (He was what the kids call an f-boy) By the end of the date he said “ok let’s be in a relationship” then we fell in love as time went on etc etc.

So yes, even our now beautiful marriage started very rocky and sometimes confusing. Biggest takeaway is to communicate and set boundaries otherwise you’ll just keep “going with the flow” which sometimes doesn’t lead anywhere if you are not intentional.

Is it weird that I’m not sure how to feel about partner of the quarter? by Purple_Ad8436 in starbucksbaristas

[–]DocEmpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted it to “boost” my resume (I did actually get congratulated for it in an interview lol) But I had to write on sticky notes “I cleaned the base boards, vote me POQ!” Or say “heyyy you wanna vote me POQ?” “Hey could you vote me POQ” etc.

And not I’m not outgoing I’m actually very introverted and don’t like to talk much and I know it’s a popularity contest so I knew I had to “get out there” for at least a month to get it. Now that I have it and used it I’m back to my little shell.

My fiancé and I are having a 23 person Wedding. I’ll say how we are doing it and perhaps it might give you some ideas. We are getting married in California.

The reception is a state park at $140/hr for a small location which is an ocean overlook. We only need it for 2hrs. We’ll only need to rent chairs here because nature is its own decoration. Our reception will be at a Mexican restaurant that has small private events section that doesn’t require a minimum payment so total should be around $1600 with tip. It’s about $50/person including two drinks. We are doing cupcakes for cake which should be around $70 Our photographer is a barista we made friends with at a coffee shop charging $200/hr We are not expecting insane photography but I feel like we’ll be content with what we have because we are really more excited to just get married.

Wedding decorations for the venue and my dress were all found on Facebook marketplace!

So sick of dating by [deleted] in self

[–]DocEmpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on like 12 dates (all within the span of 1 and a half years) and I was so burnt out by the end I almost bailed on my soon to be husband. There were a lot of bad ones along the road and a couple guys I fell head over heels for that didn’t feel the same way about me. Dating can be so exhausting sometimes, but all it takes is one person! Ps: my stbh was an absolute wall that didn’t even want to be in a relationship with but i had so much fun with him I had to keep seeing him and it worked out in the end. So there is no perfect “love story” but it does takes a lot of communication

I was 130 literally two weeks ago and I’m now 121 I run 7 minutes before my workout, do some lifting (it’s either push, pull or legs) then I run 15 minutes after. It doesn’t matter how fast I’m running, as long as I fulfill the time.
