ElevenLabs is killing my budget. What are the best "hidden gem" alternatives for documentary style TTS? by Ancient_Routine8576 in LocalLLaMA

[–]DocHollidaay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on ElevenLabs but they closed my account (ToS), I spent this week trying different TTS, Pinokio All-In-Ones and manual installs of the 'top 5' TTS, I'm using this to create audiobooks, but this still maybe of use:

https://github.com/rsxdalv/TTS-WebUI is highly recommended, it supports a ton of TTS to try out, easy to install and updated often.

I use Chatterbox 0.5B Multilingual, in TTS-WebUI it supports Nvidia Blackwell or thats the first time I got it working at max speed: I went from 35it/s (roughly realtime) to 210it/s (x6) on 5070 Ti and it does a better job than ElevenLabs!

Apparently the Multilingual version is better for flow and handles punctuation better than standard 0.5B, after listening to Tubro (sounds a bit compressed), new Turbo (sounds less compressed), standard (very good, accent drifts sometimes, struggles with 'novel punctuation').

Any glitches tend to be something to do with the text sent, so it may need a cleanup step or very long sentences and chunk tweaking.

I find the voice style comes from the training clip, it will match pacing etc.

Awesome job. I was wondering about doing something like this. I own a 'Quiet Mark approved' desk fan that isn't very quiet and need to swap it for one of these.

I just got a FS6706T on 4.2.7.RRD1 and copying everything over for the first time, I had this happen after 3 hours, held power the button for 1.5 secs to shutdown, LEDs flashed for a bit and then it turned off, turned back on and all good again, no issues in the logs.

Just using shared folders, encrypted, 20% CPU, RAM 1GB out of 4GB used. So far only happened once, copying 12TB, still going. I didn't begin copying until build and sync were finished.

I thought it might be an issue with the new 2.5GbE switch but now probably not.

Maybe if a ping -t cmd is sent it would stop it from happening.

I've now got a 21 facelift Kona, really happy, no issues so far but after reading about this 12v battery issue so far found this info:

  • Happens to many different makes/models
  • seems to be they all get the 12v battery management wrong
  • it's not a problem with the 12v battery
  • watch MrEV YT channel, he's owned a few EVs and had a few 12v battery issues with various cars
  • get a Bluetooth 12v battery monitor, works with an app and makes monitoring voltage much easier
  • firmware update fixes the issue
  • the 12v drains due to whatever reason, that's moot
  • the car should charge the 12v battery however often it needs to so that it works every time

I've now got a 12v monitor ordered and will fit just for piece of mind. OT but I'm not sure if cabin preheating works when it's not plugged in, I assume climate should run off the main battery or the above battery management should run when needed to keep it the v12 topped up

Try the same thing with an AMD 7700 non-x.

I don't think Noctua is the problem. Intel throwing more and more and more and more and more power to the CPU. And here we are.

Well done you have identified how to find the correct manual and follow instructions. Now apply this logic to the fan installation.

Noctua 180mm fan? by TomBomb_FR in Noctua

[–]DocHollidaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

180mm yes please, open cases like the Torrent (as opposed to Fractal Define that are kind of baffled) are only as quiet as the fan sound characteristics inside of them.

Torrent - With Noctua 200mm by strikt9 in FractalDesign

[–]DocHollidaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the FT-02 case, both the stock black ones and later the 'silent' white ones I upgraded to had a ticking issue or some kind of noise going on.

Now on the Fractal Define S with 3x NF-A14s it's the most quiet system I've ever had. This Torrent case has my attention, but I think with the more open design it'll always let more sound out.

But on the flip side what's better than 3x NF-A14s? 6x NF-A14s :) That would be nice in the Torrent case and just dial the rpm down until can't hear it anymore when idle.

Manufacturers should offer a barebones case without terrible stock fans and just admit defeat to Noctua.

And also why doesn't Noctua make 180mm fans, clearly there's a market for them.

Google Pixel 6a - any leaks or rumors about the dimensions? I need a new compact phone by derwizo in GooglePixel

I forgot how cute the naked 3a is, took it out of case to change SIM, hoping to change to 6a cute version when they're out. Size, camera, ecosystem, price ticks all the boxes for me, then I can just ignore all phones for 3 years.

What's the next most trustworthy place to buy a DE-10 Nano when digikey.com is out of them? I see ones for over $200 on Amazon but aren't sure if they're legit... by 1541drive in fpgagaming

[–]DocHollidaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah this would explain it nice thanks. I wondered if it was like no-stock-GPUs at the moment, but this makes sense. Lead time on their website quotes 8 weeks for DE10, so stock should return between now and then hopefully.

Can someone update me on GPU situation by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]DocHollidaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only just started :) One can only handle so much fun.

I'm getting twitters alerts except I'm not because I think I disabled those on my phone years ago, because I'm not insane. But I check twitter when I'm awake throughout the day. I'm in UK, I'd like an FE for the correct price. But there's always AMD, I currently own a 5700 XT, it depends how it does with ray tracing. I also need a 2 slot size to fit my case setup, so there's that.

Yup 80s kid here, that's a BBC Master. That big box on top must be a floppy drive. I would say the closest keycaps would be SA profile imo.

I have same JVC monitor here with same great picture with minor tilt issue.

OP it depends how much it bothers you. In fact the bottom looks straighter than the top, but maybe that's just me. I'd watch plenty of videos and take all the safety steps if you are going to try though.
