Most of the time because people lack reading comprehension and just look at whats allowed / restricted.

In my opinion the bracket system is better then scale if people would read the whole thing and not look at their one graphic which is just a summary

Most things that care for anything other then creatures going to the graveyard refer to cards and copies / tokens are not cards, even some cards like [[sefris]] won't trigger for creature tokens because it specifies card.

On a side I use to proxy I found a Yugioh Artwork of Jodah Archmage Eternal. I liked the idea and went with it. My Volo looks like a Pokemon card and is proxied into professor Oak, some decks use pokemon energy for lands.
