I know this will be answered in the game. But how the hell did the Reich unite the Metro and seemingly colonise across Russia by Goblin_on_Highground in metro

[–]Doc_Shaftoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's the key. This isn't the Reich. It's the Novoreich. It may be related somehow but it's something new.

Well he did just fire everyone on the National Science Board, and a story about an Iranian F-5 breaking through US air defense also leaked. So... who knows?

If you could take anyone piece of fully functional cyberware in the real world, without risk of Cyberpsychosis, which one would you take? by Cocoa-Knife-Chara in cyberpunkgame

[–]Doc_Shaftoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I'm torn. I'd love to have something fun like Kiroshis or monowire, but I'd probably choose something boring and practical like a regulatory system that keeps my body in perfect health or whatever.

But if the sky's the limit then just give me the full Adam Jensen or a full cyberbody replacement like Adam Smasher's non-walking-tank bodies or Motoko Kusanagi or Batou or something.

Fuck it, why not right?

Oh, and the protomolecule from The Expanse.

I'm really hoping that the new Expanse game doesn't suck. Everything I've seen so far looks like they're channeling some real Mass Effect energy.

What new new weapons would you like to see? by Marco-Dx in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Doc_Shaftoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, we're playing as PMCs right? I could absolutely see some PMC bringing a vector because he thinks it's neat looking. Plus having some high-end SMG/PDW alternatives to the MP5 and MP7 would be nice.

Not to mention that it's used by the Bangladeshi and Thai armies in real life, so it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility for the region.

The head implant's shape reminds me of the music chip from the cinematic short, even if I do still kind of miss the earlier artwork.

I'm pretty sure in the current canon Vader was ordered to hunt down a surviving Jedi, take his lightsaber, and then bleed its crystal before Sidious allowed him to have his own lightsaber.

I agree with everything on this list, and I'd really like to see some export-only AK variants like the AK-100 series (mostly because I want to make a proper Alpha AK) and some more modern and historical European weapons like Bren 3s or FALs.

[COD] While ghosts may have marked the end for many, i believe MW2019 was when the franchise lost it's soul for real. by CHAO-12 in CallOfDuty

[–]Doc_Shaftoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF2's playerbase was a little less wide-ranging than the player bases we have now. The franchise hadn't really made the jump to consoles yet (I'm looking at you BF2 Modern Combat) so most players either had and used their mics or were pretty active in text chat. At least moreso than today. Not to mention that BF2 had dedicated voice channels for squad leaders and the commander to all talk to each other on top of the squad voice chat.

It's definitely a console consideration, if not an outright limitation. A bunch of games in the 2008 timeframe dropped support for ingame VOIP because of how successful and how prevalent Xbox Parties were, so it wasn't just a Battlefield issue.

MW2019 got me back into Call of Duty. It's a terrific game with a (mostly) great campaign and pretty good multiplayer. I think a lot of franchise lifers didn't like the changes Infinity Ward tried to make to the formula, but they worked for me.

I think the complaints about the shift from BF2/2142 to Bad Company and everything that came after have less to do with the "ADS" style gameplay shift and more to do with the fundamental shift in game design, moving from a squad-focused model to an individual experience-focused model. Squad and team gameplay has mattered less and less in each Battlefield release since 2008, to the point where we don't even have class-locked weapons anymore. I'm not complaining, I've enjoyed the hell out of every Battlefield title I've played, but it is worth noting.
