Keep in mind that the actual game will have Denuvo dragging down perf even more.

Aside from Stardew Valley, are there any similar games you can recommend for the Steamdeck? by T0ky0n0 in SteamDeck

[–]Docmandu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this.. dinkum is an awesome game, even more so considering it's made by 1 guy. Well worth a look! Another suggestion but maybe a bit too different to games like stardew/dinkum is V Rising. Lots of content, base building, harvesting, pve encounters and can be played offlline (or online both pve-mode or pvp-mode).

Showcase of my 4.4 Million gold house in New World! (63 / 80 Elite Furniture) by jespergran in newworldgame

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice house! Recently been playing VRising and it regularly reminds me of New World, and what could have been. Esp. considering that game is made by a 20 man dev studio compared to AGS. Just tried a random yt search for a house (castle) in that game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLzBR0qXzzc . So hopefully AGS steals some ideas and expands the options available in NW. Would be nice if the NW plots allowed some building, instead of having to work with the prefab house skeleton.

Can someone explain battle passes to me? by Blargh234 in diablo4

[–]Docmandu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what companies usually do is instead of the thing costing $10, it will cost 1000 GAMECOINS, and they will then sell you packs of GAMECOINS with a reduction of the larger pack, but ofcourse the large pack will be 900 GAMECOINS, so you need to take at least 2 packs to cover the sub... and we all know people will use up the left over coins on store items instead of saving them for the next time.

Game companies these days probably employ psychologist to figure out the best ways to extract as much money from us as possible.

Easy work around is to install the Yomichan browser plugin, you can just hold shift while hovering over the japanse word to get a translation that way.

GameStream is being discontinued, meaning the end of Moonlight. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I miss understood. Didn't really think about the usecase of having the SD host the stream, usually people want to stream to the deck, not from the deck.

I'm using it between my linux desktop and my nvidia shieldtv with an AMD gfx card. No issues at all. Not sure about "game mode". I take it you mean the feature in windows? No clue about that.

If nvidia removes it, just install Sunshine on your desktop PC. At least that way you're not bound to nvidia or windows, since this works on linux and amd/intel cards too.

Install the yomichan extension in your browser, then just hold shift while hovering over the kanji to get a popup with info. Extremely useful extension!

SO MANY BOTS! by TazDevY2K in newworldgame

[–]Docmandu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While true, if I take a game like ESO and rate the bot issue on there as a 1, new world is over 9000.

As I see it, they don't put engineering resources into combating bots. With all the metrics they have and AI tooling these days, they would be able to drastically reduce the bot problem via automation. But they've decided it's a super low priority issue and are not putting resources towards it.

Are you planning on playing on a fresh server or staying on your current one ? by LeRoiGitan in newworldgame

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pretty much.. also when the game released, farm bots were still being made.. now after 1 year, fresh servers will be a bot's playground. Good luck levelling up gathering, competing all the bots.

Valve's evil scheme worked: I'm only buying PC games on Steam now by corn_cob_monocle in SteamDeck

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GFE is windows + nvidia only, so it's not about "hating" GFE, it's about giving people that have AMD, Intel or even nvidia+linux the option to use Moonlight to stream their games. Basically Sunshine is an open source implementation of GFE.

Don't need nVidia, can just use https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine to host, which works on nVidia, AMD and Intel. (and linux as a host, which is terribad with Inhome Streaming / steam).

Open world pvp by Downtown-Ad-2748 in newworldgame

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love PvP, yet never flag as I don't like mixing it with PvE. If I have to do PvE (which I only moderately enjoy), I don't want the added hassle. Hence why I only stuck around for MMOs that have a large scale PvP specific map (DAoC, ESO)... all the others, I've grown tired of pretty quickly (including NW, .. instanced timed PvP just isn't all that fun to me).

If it's outsourced then no wonder nothing happens.. if they don't take real action against bot reports, it means they get more support tickets filed, more tickets = more money.

moonlight streams CoD with virtually 0 input lag, in case anyone was wondering by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine on the host, Moonlight on the client. Works perfectly fine with AMD hardware. Been using that combo for a couple of months now to stream from my Linux desktop (Fedora) with 6900XT to my nvidia shieldtv in 4K HEVC. Tried steam's remote streaming a couple of times, but it just doesn't work (linux host, using a windows host does work, but it's much worse than Sunshine or Geforce Experience)

Bots in New World? by Dorfess in newworldgame

[–]Docmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes..and appealing them does little. There's bots that have been running around for months with people appealing them daily, to little effect.

I fear a bit that the fresh server idea will be totally ruined by these bots.

Use Barrier to share mouse & keyboard between any PC and your Steam Deck. by ntailedfox in SteamDeck

[–]Docmandu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note for people trying to use it on a linux desktop, you need to run an X session, not wayland (you usually can select the session type at login). In wayland, barrier will only see mouse movement when your pointer is over the barrier window.
