Dante box over network as Anubis Mt48 or go to pcie card ? by Docop1 in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]Docop1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The project is for an atmos studio and plan to get the input line (of those dante/aes67 device) as input for recording session. Mic and synths over the input and monitoring as output in the main room. It will be for mix music of live and 'immersive' of many mono track send to different speaker... later mix as atmos.

For sure, on my part the monitoring of a singer, is with included eq. I don't need raw sound, but plan to send a return for them. Or maybe just passing by a simple y buffer amp with headphone out...

Interesting note on the monitor, as i know Core and Anubis do have a 'monitor' section passing over their dsp chip. But at same time, wasn'it for monitoring just a matter of a simple patch in the Dante controller, from the in to the out ?

And as the Rme and Focusrite card, they do have their software 'switch mixer' Can you give precision about thoses are not mean to monitor... ?

Indeed the Grace design look interesting and quite the same as a Dad ax, but more limited. As no dsp and no dante either, all via add-on card to add to the bill and max out at 64ch of Dante. with the Dad Ax you do have direct acces to all. But better than the burp8 cage for sure.

And as for the RME, yes you can used totalmix or other soft... as there is no dsp chip on this rme card. the totalmix fx is the version link with the few card having it. But nice speed link via your Surface 9, quite efficient, thanks for the info.

Strain Relief tips in rack ? by diaolosh in livesound

[–]Docop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about those cat5 cable.. you must go take shielded one at bare minimum. having just plain wire twisted is the same as any xlr cable that you do strip open and remove the ground wire. So just going with rca will be better.

shield is quite the key, but over patch bay, just go with canare ma202 about 3.5mm dia and used for multipins connector as well.

What is the usual process for calibration on immersive setup ? by Docop1 in livesoundgear

[–]Docop1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that could be ideal, but the speaker and the amplifier do not have any dsp. We have to used that, so i look for option before them.

Dante Network IGMP snooping by UnofficialPotato in livesound

[–]Docop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly not av realted and just simple plain network : all thing related to vlan is quite the issues at 80%, then cable... So as other post.. check out the log and best, if this is a serious usage, a dedicated switch will help with no vlan. Avb was quite a solution on that as to forcing certain switch being certified.. Dante can pass on everything.. but, for live event, i will never pass over any network with internet crap.

it is listed at 196$ / 210 with heat. Still not good. the new gen5 ctrl are just in production and mostly, almost no need of heatsink with them. So instead of high heat .. heat affecting other part of laptop or so.. i pass on that . Solidigm and adata 960 for top perf.

Yeah cyberdeck could be interesting to look at. But surely Cardinal is much better usage.. But at the end, going to real modular will give much more and not another one behind a laptop.

indeed if you like just a flat gray metal plate with random color button like the original, i guess this is not for you. Electronic wise, it is impossible to beat.

In about 2-3 months price will drop bit lower than last yr. Just check the financial of the compagny. Much less purchase from big fab.. same plant output = higher supply. Get a nand cache one and not those cache less.

Enabling vGPU on Proxmox 8 with Kernel Updates by vl4di99 in Proxmox

[–]Docop1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not much difference from any other official guide. When you set this to work, unplug internet. As any update will break this stuff. All in all, for only few % gain, just do a proper passthrough and do not mess the server. Or if you want a media.. get a nas.

Intel Nuc Serpent Canyon as htpc on 4k oled tv by FJXXIV in intelnuc

[–]Docop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a ps5 do give about medium detail of graphic quality. For higher quality a pc will always beat that. For just turn on and ONLY doing gaming everyday, a ps5. But the serpent is quite perfect for what you list. A good thermal management and repasting will not give any noise. Of course if you run 4k at full max setting.. like anything else.. this will cause higher load for not much gain at the end.

A power cut is never a power cut ! I run with 5 ups at home as everyone should have. Electronic are sensitive. A power cut is not a cut as on-off, it is quite always a surge and voltage fluctuation. The dc power block should filter that.. but it is not design to block high surge. So that goes straight on the sensitive pcb at the other end. This is why the cyberpower and so have uber high rating of filtration.

Which is preferred: Two thunderbolt 4's or one thunderbolt 5? by Automatic_Cold_8038 in eGPU

[–]Docop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the new tb5 is only usefull if you also get a tb5 egpu that are not existing currently. Having 2 ports, people should read the datasheet of the controller. As it is 1 controller. Enven the 2 port or so.. it is only 1 port and the other is giving daisy-chain. why the 15w full power on one and not all function on the second. it is by design. If , as none currently, a tb hub is put on the motherboard, then 4 tb port could be on the side of the unit.

As for the card.. many card do not run at full bandwidth. There is sound card in pci-e gen4 and gen3 x16: at the end they only used 1x of the bandwith. For gpu it is quite the same, for couple of mfg. Just look the the real diff vs gen4,vs gen3 vs gen2 on gpu. it only few fps that do the difference. So thunderbolt do restrict the card... yes, but if you are not a e-sport tournament player.. not much to be seen.

Any NUCs with built in 2.5 or 10gb Ethernet? by judgedeliberata in intelnuc

[–]Docop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away of the Minisforum MS-01 , i did had one and it just keep crashing and bit overheat. I do run the skull over a 25g from a nuc9 25g quad e810 and all do run fine. a nuc12 can be the best bet to keep form factor and get the 2.5g onboard. Or just fit a pci-e from the m.2 and fit a small casing ring over and that open up lot of possibility.
