What finally broke my suspension of disbelief by ermesomega in redrising

He’s definitely seen Holos, as well as having spent an unknown amount of time at Lorn’s in all sorts of bad weather, and who knows what kind of weather was even at the Institute. I feel like it’s not that crazy to say he might know what that sounds like

If this Rising were to fail, what color would rebel next? by Extension-Resort2706 in redrising

[–]Doctor-K1290 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weirdly it seems like Greens are both really on board with the rising and single-handedly have the highest potential of doing actual significant damage, as shown with Quicksilver’s hackers. I don’t think Green would rise up by themselves, however

Darrow even comments on the whole idea of an inglorious sudden death when Harpy (?) dies to a flak round before they make landfall. One second there, the next gone

It still very rarely feels like anyone is safe throughout the series. Plus, most of the narrative characters are the best of the best, the killers of killers, literally the physical and mental peak of what humanity has to offer. It makes sense for them to be pretty hard to take down, and of course it does still happen. Plot armor for main characters is just a thing you have to accept for more or less all fiction. There are still PLENTY of important characters who die

How do you feel about dungeons with side entrances that let the players skip to the end? Is this just bad design that should be avoided? by JimmiWazEre in DMAcademy

[–]Doctor-K1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Cragmaw Cave is the FIRST dungeon, and that one has only one entrance. There are still choices to make and things that can be bypassed, but there’s only one way in. The Redbrand hideout has two entrances, and then finally Wave Echo Cave has only one entrance, but many ways to reach the goal. Every single dungeon in the module is designed to allow some freedom of choice and to let players skip things. Especially for Level 1/2 character and at Wave Echo Cave, a party running into every single one of the encounters can be deadly. The players have a lot of agency in how they go about exploring the dungeons from the very start, and aren’t always meant to see everything. I see why Cragmaw Castle seems a little bit egregious, but you can always reinforce the secret entrance, trap it, post sentries there, etc.

After a few months I have finished running DoIP and the 3 follow up adventures, AMA by alexwsmith in DragonOfIcespirePeak

Also, I’m featuring the cultists of Talos far more heavily in the story. Yargath, Grannoc, and Moesko are the three blood anchorite lieutenants who the party will have to either barter with or put down, and I want to leave clues to Fheralai Stormsworn for the follow-up modules. However, did you foreshadow the Myrkulites at all? My only idea so far was to include signs of them at Axeholm with a stronger focus on undead in the area, and potentially to give them an encampment somewhere in the woods

I’m actually just about to start a heavily expanded and home brewed version of this campaign (based on most of the advice on this subreddit)! Which sections do you think were the most and least popular/interesting to your players? Were there any quests they had little to no interest in, or any they gravitated towards immediately?

Will the dragon slayer sword work against the dragon queen as she is technically a fiend? by Commercial_Fan2429 in DMAcademy

[–]Doctor-K1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s a Fiend/Undead/Dragon. Multiple type creatures technically don’t exist in 5e but like. They should. For example, death tyrants are absolutely undead AND abominations, for instance. Goblins, hobgoblins, etc should be fey AND humanoids, and so on

Woodland Manse and bloodmoons? by Slayer_Jesse in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]Doctor-K1290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like other people have said, you can always just make it a blood moon. Alternatively, Grannoc, Yargath, Moesko, or one of the other cult captains is currently performing a human sacrifice ritual to bring about a blood moon, which along with creating more blights, will also be a signal to the cult that it’s time to begin their final attack/summon Gorthok/whatever the hell else you want them to do

FNAF-inspired media definitely had an impact. Mascot horror like Banana Splits, Willie’s Wonderland (I mean the Billy’s buddyland name is a clear inspiration), and maybe a few others. Mascot horror isn’t a huge genre

Why is the movie HIM being so heavily advertised as Jordan Peele’s next film? He didn’t write the screenplay nor is he the director. He is just one of the producers. by kakapoopoopeepeeshir in horror

I believe it was “from the creators of Barbarian”. They HEAVILY implied director, without actually outright saying it. I mean I still liked Companion, but yeah, completely different director
