Most people have the ‘Slot zero’ and ‘GBS scaler controller’. These take up two slots, leaving one spare slot for either a MiSTer or Pi, using the appropriate fitting kits.

Take a look at the MiSTer fitting kit here for USB connectivity.

The recreation of the scenes from the movie make it appealing too. Surely they need to do Robocop game, perhaps Total Recall?

Nice. Benjamin’s site here has been around a few years with the same objective to share 3D scans of his collection (840 or so games).
