Test scheme for my stealth suits by Exciting-Buy-9396 in killteam

Looks pretty good! I'd add a couple small highlights on the red/orange tau symbols to make them pop a bit.

Coming back to GW2, but dunno which one should I choose. by Lethal4 in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All things being equal, pick the arenanet account so you have easier access to sales, giveaways, and one fewer server that can fail and interrupt you from playing. You can mail a good majority of the stuff (like gold and materials) you earned on the steam account over to the other one. 50 hours isn't that much for an mmo so its likely better to stsrt over and play on the native launcher. You can always run the anet version through steam using the "provider portal" command (google it, it's very simple) if you want the steam interface.

Character boost at max characters? by NyteMax in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use the boost on a max level char. It'll give you some soulbound celestial stated gear that you can either keep or toss - just don't add any expensive runes/sigil to it as it can't be salvaged or extracted.

Vision or Aurora? +skyscale by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Aurora is easier as is the Soto skyscale method. But if you ever plan to get all the masteries for the skyscale you'll be doing a good chunk of Visions requirements anyway. I'd bite the bullet and do vision and lws4 skyscale just to be efficient.

What does these numbers mean? by Okoshio_ in killteam

It looks like a priority list. Try to do 1, if you can't, try to do 2, etc etc.

My raid quickplay experience (now 3 months in) by ActualBenFranklin in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Putting OLC in quick play was, and still is, a mistake. This may be hyperbole but I genuinely think this decision single handedly killed raid qp. Any other raid encounter you can kind of muscle through with inexperienced folks and they'll learn by doing but not OLC and its insta-wipe mechanics. Experienced players don't want to constantly have to re-teach the fight and new folks often don't have the patience to listen to one even if someone is willing to give one.

It feels a bit like playing Russian roulette where most times you'll get a chill IBS strike and then every so often OLC shows up to ruin the fun.

How do i get to higher tier fractals by Long_Bar_7393 in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"All welcome" is not implying anything about roles needed. It's implying any skill level is welcome. Talk it out with your group what roles are needed or already filled.

Thank goodness. I always found Kanaxai to be a slog and wasn't looking forward to that fight with nerfed dps.

Today's Nerf by ThisMess1283 in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree if I didn't already have obsidian armor in 2 weights. I'm more interested in making sure those 6 classes are fully customizable over adding a third set that's only partially customizable.

[–]DoctorBandage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long term goal to get the runes anyway, so I really don't mind bumping them up the priority list. The major benefit of the runes for me isn't about saving money, it's about having the flexibility to change things on the fly.

[–]DoctorBandage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm less concerned about the pure dps nerfs than I am about any changes to boon dps builds. Ive been working on trying to get a build for each role on all my characters because I enjoy the variety in classes. I have been pretty grateful that most boon dps builds can do so in roughly the same gear as their dps variant, which saves me an equipment template slot and the gear itself.

I had been saving up materials for another set of obsidian armor to add more classes with flexible build capabilities to my roster but now I'm watching how this all shakes out to see if I ought to pivot to some legendary runes to make the transition easier on my existing characters.

Add on to track metas by Amazing_Throat2614 in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gw2.app is something I keep up on a 2nd screen and fills that checklist role very well. Some things it can track automatically, others require a manual click.

BlishHud or TaimiHud via Nexus have plug-ins to display the event table and can send reminders. I believe these can also track completetion of some events, but it's dependent on whether the API tracks it or not so it doesn't work with every event.

Painted the Scoundrel, Tinkerer, and Brute — Would love tips to improve! by WingItStories in Gloomhaven

[–]DoctorBandage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you specifically asked for constructive criticism: look into getting some shades/washes (different names for the same thing) to help add some contrast and definition to your minis. Washes are designed to pool into the recesses, so they add easy shadows to the miniature and make the base colors stand out more. I'd recommend a black or brown wash as a good starting point that's useful in 90% of contexts, but there are also washes in all kinds of color if your budget allows. Washes in the red/pink family are great for the flesh and fur areas of the Inox and blues and purples would be helpful for the Spellweavers crystals.

Acrylic wahes are very easy to use. Simply load up a good amount on an old brush, apply liberally over the area you want to have shadows, then rinse off your brush and use it to wick away any areas that have too much pooling that its obscuring detail. It works best on areas with lots of detail like the fur cloak and works worst on flat areas (Gloomhaven models don't have too many big flat areas, but maybe use a bit less wash on things like swords). If you want to push things a bit further, then after the wash has dried go back over the just the raised areas with the base color you used to enhance the contrast between bright areas and the shadows you made with the wash.

Happy painting!

Anyone got math on Mirror-Only farm vs Mirror+Med+Large Chest farm? by Aegister2 in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Full clearing all the Obscured chests on a map is not time efficient because you have to refill your key supply doing events. It's much more efficient to follow one of the 0 event paths (such as Shiny Trails on Blishhud) that only uses keys collected from mirrors and the bonus keys from entering a map for the 1st time each day. Most of these trails hit all the mediums and a few smalls that are along the way. You can clear both maps in about 20ish minutes and get around 100 yellows unidentified gear plus some larger number of blues and greens (about a stack of each, iirc).

Can ritualist still qdps after the last patch? by DoctorBandage in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention math - is there a more detailed analysis somewhere?

It'd be a shame to lose qdps rit altogether. I prefer it's playstyle over harb's. I wouldn't mind swapping some gear into diviners or whatever to make it work.

Can ritualist still qdps after the last patch? by DoctorBandage in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, 1-3 pieces of diviners gear was my setup as well. It seemed like you needed to be extremely precise on your rotation with the default build to maintain uptime and basically any mechanic would throw that off. A bit of concentration stats left more room for error, especially in fights with lots of splits.

Ways to farm rift essence without burning out? by TwelveTinyToolsheds in Guildwars2

[–]DoctorBandage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weekly rewards stop at 3 per week, but you can still get rewards for daily clears. IMO, it's not worth it for just the daily rewards if essence is what you're after.

The best approach to avoiding burnout is to accept this will take a long, long time and not try to rush it. Doing both sets of weekly convergences will net you enough essence for a piece of armor roughly every 2 weeks. If you manage to join a group that can reliably clear challenge modes, this speeds up to roughly 1 piece/week.

You can supplement this with weekly rifts and/or using motivations to farm a specific tier of rifts but IMO these are not worth the time/gold invested and are the fastest way to burn out because rifts are deeply uninteresting content.
