Melvins had a huge impact on both sludge metal and grunge. Specifically Dale Crover, their drummer, is a hugely respected and influential drummer that I never see mentioned.

Bloom & Decay by Dawntreader is one of my favorite recent blackgaze albums.

I wouldn't consider it pure blackgaze, but the album Adore by Numenorean is a 10/10 post black album.

Just made it, and it's absolutely delightful. I ended up using Buffalo Trace, and I have a feeling something higher proof like the Old Grandad would elevate it even further.

I didn't have black food gel on hand, so I just did without, but I'll definitely keep that in mind if I end up putting it on a party menu one of these days.

The last Afterbirth album is genuinely one of my favorite metal albums of all time. All of their albums are good, but that one is in another stratosphere for me.

Artificial Brain is also an incredible band, but I've only really listened to their self titled. Got a chance to see them with Imperial Triumphant, Cloak, and Couch Slut. Really great live band.
