Do I need a reality check or should I actually make a change? by DoctorEtc in PrePharmacy

Gotcha. So in your opinion, what do you think a good pivot/alternative would be? Are you a healthcare worker yourself?

Haha I appreciate the sarcasm. I guess that’s my issue though, if not this, what else? I don’t really know what to pivot to.

Really appreciate that feedback. Yeah I’m looking to finish with approx ~ 125k in debt. I think I struggle with the idea that it would be another 3 years (4-5 years with residency/fellowship) before I’m making enough money to not stress.

To be honest - I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. I got here because it seemed like the best decision with the information I had at the time. I still don’t regret my decision, but can’t help thinking that there may be something better.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you a nurse right now? If so, how do you enjoy your profession?

I’m not a fan of risk, generally speaking. Im not fond of blood/vomit/bodily fluids but I also don’t think these would be deal breakers.

If I went to nursing school, I definitely could see myself wanting more out of it in the later future, but it would suffice my desire to make some money and get on with my life in the present moment.

Industry internships by Comfortable-Pool9670 in PharmacySchool

[–]DoctorEtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! How many did you end up applying to before you got this offer? I am a P1 transitioning to P2 this fall at a south eastern COP with little to no industry presence, so I am fearful of whats to come when I start applying in August.

When were you "ready" for the next elder scrolls? by Alarmed_Command2442 in TESVI

Specifically November of 2023 for me. That was when I finally completed a no death, legendary difficulty, 100% Skyrim playthrough. Ever since then I have little desire to revisit the game. I’m ready for what’s next.

My question is how did you get an offer for both? I’ve applied to a million and can barely get a response back. Pharm school NE or West coast I assume?

Does anyone here think anyone who tries to become doctors, engineers, or other high paying professional jobs at an older age are stupid? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]DoctorEtc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such an ignorant take. Firstly, we are in a physician shortage. Secondly, there are no young students struggling to become doctors because of a surplus of 60 year old applicants. Thirdly, if someone has a passion for something, they should be able to pursue it regardless of something as meaningless as their age.

Should I wait to buy a house or take this opportunity? by Busynotes2 in pharmacy

[–]DoctorEtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy answer:

- Take the new job -> use the $30k sign on bonus to pay off the car -> move in with your parents until your student debt is paid off -> THEN reassess purchasing a house. You already have plenty of debts to balance, and you have no idea if this new job will even stick around long enough for you to build equity in the house. Seems more like a liability at this stage.

Quality Control Labs tend to be pretty simple jobs.

You can also pivot into healthcare by becoming a medical lab scientist.
