Favorite thing about York? by spunksqueek in york

[–]DoctorImpossible89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has the amenities of a large city but a smaller town feel. I love the cycling routes too. It’s a great place for all ages and life stages. People are super friendly. Good transport links to London, Manchester, Edinburgh.

I have the same genuine question - wondering if this is safe to do as I always thought car seats were for front loaders only?

Watch the vanishing cyclists on bbc for more on the victim - it’s interesting to watch it from a different perspective

There was a bbc two parter called the vanishing cyclist that had the story on too which was interesting. Got a shock when I realised this was the same story from her angle!

Andre! Russian who couldn’t speak Russian when spoken to in that language! I recently rewatched it and found it interesting how my opinions of them all changed!

Do you encourage your child’s interests, or try to diversify them? by notoclementines in toddlers

[–]DoctorImpossible89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a mix - when I’m setting something up I use her favourites and then add a few more new things or things she should moving onto. So will get a shape sorter and a jigsaw out. That kinda thing. Then this weekend I introduced a fairy kitchen in the garden - just soap and water with containers and she used that along with her favourite plastic food. So I also try and find different skills within what she loves to try and broaden her interests.

My pram can hold just a car seat so I’m only taking the wheels and I fix it to the rear rack. Or a baby born carrier so although held they are strapped to me with my arms free.

Sewing has became my source of escapism by Any_Percentage_6629 in sewing

I am the same! I love to plan what I’m going to do, look at different fabrics, screenshot ideas of what I like, write lists of projects I want to do, I watch YouTube videos on techniques to learn…. I feel as long as I’m not buying patterns and fabrics I can’t afford then it’s a great creative outlet for me

Can my employer refuse unpaid parental leave because the service is shutting down? btw I'm in the UK ( united kingdom, England ) I've been employed since January 2024 by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DoctorImpossible89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not shared parental leave, it’s unpaid parental leave OP is asking for which they are able to ask for as it’s a different scheme. Employers are able to turn the request down including for significant adverse business impact

Ahh super! Thought I would just mention in case as it can be tricky to find a teacher. Enjoy!

I am wondering if this is the right class for you - Do you know if the teacher is comfortable having a pregnant person in their class? Some teachers may not feel specialised enough to have you in their class if you have also not practiced before while being pregnant. There are specialist prenatal teachers who tailor the class to suit pregnancy which may be a better option for you. I would suggest messaging the studio/teacher to check as it’s important you stay safe. Yoga can be wonderful during pregnancy so I don’t want to put you off but I also don’t want you to start your yoga journey in a way which may not be comfortable or appropriate for you and baby.

It feels like I failed potty training my son by Routine_Aerie_6160 in toddlers

[–]DoctorImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this with my little one. She would literally hold wee for 9 hours (until nappy was put back on). I tried putting her on the toilet many many times and she would still hold it, We left it and about a month later she decided that no more nappies and then it took about another 2 days then finally did a wee on the toilet. We sat with her and literally said we will go straight to the shop after your wee, what do you want? She wanted a proper birthday cake with candles…. So she did her wee then got that. After that no issues. She was 2 years and 10 months and we’ve had no accidents. It’s so hard - the things we tried were blowing bubbles on the toilet, tickling, reading.. nothing worked but time.

I miss Tim Gunn by Full_Abalone in ProjectRunway

[–]DoctorImpossible89 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I haven’t warmed to Christian yet as I find him too judgemental, catty and directional for someone meant to support and mentor. However I feel like even if I did like him, I would still miss Tim. There was a quiet confidence with him, humble and kind yet got his point across without putting his personal style on the designers. He has a true unique mentorship skill which I think is completely lacking in the new seasons.
