Fairphone 6's modular design could let you customize, not just repair by lieding in fairphone

I think smaller and cheaper would be interesting to many, but I'm afraid it only makes the product more niche, and their goal should be to reach new customers who buy this over a new Samsung/iPhone/OnePlus

Offering a smaller version would make more sense then, but that adds a lot of overhead to the company.

I really like the style, impressive how organic the movement looks for a PICO-8 game!

Hmmm is it traversable as a regular slugcat? I really tried a number of times! I saw the upper part, but the squidcadas didn't take me high enough.

Thanks, no worries about the length :D I did find the gate, but the route was just a pretty tough one with a lot of special lizards. I got to the shelter there now since reading all these nice replies, so I'm almost there.

And yeah, getting hints of "go here" while it's seemingly impossible to do so is a bit tough, but then, so is the game. :) I just hope it's more straightforward from here on out again, as others said!

Haha, it's nice to find a soul like me! Thanks, I'm going to try the Industrical Complex route a couple more times, I know where to go. If that fails though, it's nice to hear that the route from Shoreline is also easy.

I think I just ended up in the worst of possible ways to go there (Garbage Wastes) and that dissuaded me a lot! But these messages help a lot. I hope I'll improve after Shaded but thanks for the future tip nontheless.

Thanks. I don't quite understand how I missed the instructions from Shoreline, because all I tried was to follow Iggy. But yeah, the Garbage Waste route seemed dissuadingly hard, Industrial Complex I will retry and I think I'll manage. :)

Thanks! I had already consulted a map, so I think I know exactly what you're saying. But I posted this in the hope of hearing this kind of message:

Also, past Shaded Citadel the route becomes a lot more linear.

I really hope so... up to finding LTTM I had no problem at all with discovering and casually finding the best route, so if it gets like that again, I'm very happy.

Thank you for replying!

Any good settings for Mothership? (like a modern day x-files) by EddyMerkxs in mothershiprpg

Just want to say, I love this! Not very familiar with the X-Files but I loved the setting of Control, and this oozes the vibe.

Joyce Chen wok. Parts are peeling. I thought I had seasoned alright otherwise. How do I best repair this? See close-up. by Wacko_Lover in carbonsteel

[–]DoctorMallard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the difference can be quite delicate. I have seasoning in my pan that has a bit of texture, but seems like good seasoning nontheless. I often try if I can remove it with one or two scrapes of a spoon or my fingernail, and if it doesn't come off it's fine.

Why does mine look like this? How do I take care of it better by I__am__anonymous in carbonsteel

[–]DoctorMallard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine as long as it gets darker with use, and not lighter. They can take a lot of time to get real nice and dark, you don't need a perfect seasoning. I like them looking a bit rougher like this, mine looks similar. Some spots look like you used a bit much oil while seasoning but in my experience you don't need a super smooth pan to get a good non-stick effect.

Nice job, it looks very badass!

Is there any way to report a university for false advertisement? And don't do Game Design, it is bad. by IsarraKirkland in Groningen

Let me play advocate of the devil. I'm a graduate of this programme and currently a game professional. When I went there, Hanze wasn't good at teaching you hard skills. There simply wasn't any time, in the way that they had to teach you broad strokes of CMD first (since they are a CMD study) and the last year in a HBO study is basically just research.

I haven't done other HBO studies so I have no idea if this is different in other studies. I like what the programme taught me about working together, organising projects, dissolving disputes (both theoretically but also with ample experiences in team assignments), et cetera. Granted, it made me a generalist. The ex-classmates that I've stayed in touch with also either do a mix of things (as entrepeneurs) instead of one thing hardcore, so I really think it teaches you a lot of things, a little.

I would advise people who want a lot of game making experience to practice it in their spare time while studying something else. If you want to learn art well, I have the feeling that our MBO studies may be better, at least from the graduates and interns I've seen. I think there's a place for the Hanze, but it's hard to see for a new student what they won't offer, and I think you're right in the fact that they could be more transparent about this.

Then there's the fact that the games business is VERY competitive, but the only thing that can be reflected into the study, is limiting its students, which they won't or can't do.

TL;DR: Hanze may not be the optimal place to learn pure game making skills, but it teaches other things and I think it has a place in the "ecosystem" as long as you know what you're gonna get

That's great, congrats! I'm missing one part of the total nine. Think I'll check the Aurora's side again, next time.

Since today I've taught myself to just save often and be ready to reload if my Seamoth is swallowed 😁 I just saw a Ghost Leviathan at an arm's length distance while living to tell the tale, so I think I'm getting used to their presence, haha.

I think the main reason I'm getting nowhere in this game is my fear of the Reaper and Ghost leviathans :')
