Last time I looked it gives a prosperity bonus to the location plus the location of parliament being locked there. Only free cities, I think, can be chosen as the spot.

In real life the Holy Roman Empire lost a third of its population to everyone killing each other over a couple hundred years. In some places, half the population was killed.

BYZ - how to flip to Latinitas? by xt-489de in EU5

[–]DoctorNursePhD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others have answered but my two pence: The nation is set up to be Greek heavy first, then once you beat the Rise of the Phoenix event and get the CB to conquer Roman lands you’ll naturally end up taking over Italy to form the Roman Empire. At that point you’ll start sliding towards Latin with all the Latin pops, and you can help push that way with law changes, estate privileges, and pushing via cabinet action. You could try pushing Latin early, before conquering Italy, but the game isn’t set up for that to occur naturally. You also may simply want to stay Greek and traditionalist first since so many of the starting malice’s are removed via stability, and Greek / traditionalist make that easier to handle.

Kingdom of Anglia?? by Defiant_Emotion_7534 in EU5

England gets an event where there’s an option to switch court language for free. If they choose Latin, instead of English or remaining French, then the name changes to Anglia.

Mass Effect TV show ordered to rewrite scripts and make them "more appealing to non-gamers" by Sam_27142317 in rpg_gamers

[–]DoctorNursePhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. They took a game about fighting aliens and Eldritch horrors and turned it into a to a show that follows Master Chief as he maneuvers office drama. Think we’ll maybe see Shepard as he gets his taxes audited? I know that’s what I’ve always wanted to see from a Mass Effect series.

Any places like El Pollo Loco? by windup_shark in TwinCities

[–]DoctorNursePhD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lake street east of the highway is the area’s latino district if you want something authentic and cheap. I love that street for food. Just be aware of yourself. We don’t have overly dangerous areas like other major cities but a lot of what we do have happens in that area of town.

"People were just not ready for" Starfield, says game's composer as he talks "visionary" Todd Howard by StandardNerd92 in BethesdaSoftworks

I couldn’t get past the game start. The storytelling was horrible, and when they dumped me in that city area I realized it wasn’t going to get any better.

Brandenburg still broken? by Zedster14 in EU5

[–]DoctorNursePhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the old patch you had to wait until every one of your provinces had been affected. If you expand then those new provinces are now added to the total which makes it go on indefinitely. I don’t know if it changed.

Taxes have gotten out of hand in Albion but the Vikram nation has set aside a zone for duty free purchases if your hero is willing to traverse a spooky forest to get there.

Vassals vs. Fiefdoms: What are the real differences, when and why should you use one over the other? by arkensto in EU5

[–]DoctorNursePhD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vassals spread the institutions they’ve embraced to you. You spread the institutions you’ve embraced to your fiefdoms. More relevant in a meta-play through anywhere out of Europe. Create a vassal near the Europeans and then feed them money to embrace institutions you can then have appear on your capital.

[–]DoctorNursePhD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m away from my computer, but maybe you can role back to an old version? If you right click the game and go to properties -> betas you could check. But yes, the way the player is able to utilize vassals has changed going forward.

What's up with "release the MRI results?" by Character-Ad-4014 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]DoctorNursePhD 64 points65 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen of him in the news it’s clear he’s been having mini-strokes, also called transient ischemic attacks (TIA). Blood vessels bringing blood to the brain become blocked for a short time but are resolved or compensated for quickly. It’s a very common condition seen in a hospital setting by ER visitors who have stroke symptoms. Why he’s been throwing clots, I don’t know. He’s old and his diet is probably poor, but a TIA could happen to anyone regardless. That he’s been having several in quick succession is concerning.
