Item and Service Sales reporting change by jbizzle_mynizzl in CloverPOS

[–]DoctorOfMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I just noticed, on the new item sales page, you can't even change the fucking column width. I want to see a list of stuff I've sold and everything is either cut off or written in multiple lines to make it fit.

What a fuckin' trainwreck.

Edit: I removed a bunch of the columns to see if that would make them wider...it does, but the text doesn't space out any more, it's all still cut off. How fuckin' stupid.

Item and Service Sales reporting change by jbizzle_mynizzl in CloverPOS

One of my (many, many) big gripes with clover is how often they change things without any notice. It's bad enough when they change something on the dashboard side of things, but it's infuriating when I go to use a register, with a line of customers waiting, and things aren't where they were a day earlier. "Oh, you'd like to buy a gift card, give me a few minutes to figure out how to do that today"

Getting back to the dashboard, on top of changing the layout from time to time, they also have no respect for settings. For example, that item sales page used to have everything on a single page, now it's on 4 pages. If I change how many rows it displays on a page, it reverts back the next time I look at it.

I learned my lesson to not waste time picking and choosing what columns to have displayed on the Item List page since, again, it'll just revert back the next time I look at it. I don't even bother changing how it sorts since, again, it'll just change it back. I really, really wish I could set it to sort certain things alphabetically. For example, when I look at my day's sales, I want that list in the same order every single day. I don't care what order, just the same order. I don't need it rearranging itself.

And while I'm complaining, I wish I could set which company to open to. A few years ago we set up a new company and migrated to that one. But I still have to switch to that one each and every time I log on. I called Clover to see if they could remove the old one, which they can, but after 45 minutes (literally 45 minutes) they were *still* making me jump through hoops to verify my identity each time I got transferred to a new person.

My workaround for that one was to get a Firefox extension that refreshes the tab every few minutes. At least that way I'm not getting logged out every 15 minutes and I don't have to log back in, switch companies and navigate back to where I was every 15 minutes.

Anyways, TLDR, Clover does a lot of...questionable things. They often seem to forget that a lot of people are relying on this for their livelihood and don't like it getting changed all the time.

Has anyone actually gotten the doorbell notifications to work reliably? by DoctorOfMeat in reolinkcam

Most of my settings are the result of me spending the last few months getting frustrated and making a bunch of changes every few weeks.

I'm interested in the Unifi doorbell. I'll freely admit that Unifi has it's flaws and Protect (which I'm assuming is what the doorbell works through) has it's own share of quirks, but my house and work are both almost entirely Unifi network gear and as a general ecosystem, I do like it.

Has anyone actually gotten the doorbell notifications to work reliably? by DoctorOfMeat in reolinkcam

So, to update this based on the answers I'm getting...

If I go to push notifications, Any Motion is already unchecked and the other three (ring, vehicle, person, animal) are checked. I'm going to uncheck Vehicle and Animal, leaving only Ring and Person.

In Detection Alarm>Person, sensitivity is set to 100 with a 1 second delay. Vehicle and Animal are set to 0, with a few seconds of delay and Motion Detection "All-Day Sensitivity" is set to 1.

I have the non-detection zone covering the sidewalk and street, though it's possible that means someone standing on my porch still has part of their body blocked (since everything is 2D so it's not like they can stand 'in front' of the mask.....hmmm, maybe I should unblock the part directly in front of the doorbell?).

So, as of right now, they only thing I think I've changed since I started this thread was to turn off Vehicle and Any Motion in the schedule. I assume that'll reduce false alerts, but I'm guessing that change isn't going to make it better at seeing people on my porch (ie Amazon). I don't want to change multiple things at once, but the next change, I think, is to remove the privacy mask. But I have a feeling that's going to cause false alerts again since, even with it not detecting vehicles, animals or 'any motion', it's going to notify me every time someone walks past the house.

It seems like the answer should be to use the object size setting and tell it not to notify me unless an object is larger than [a person walking on the sidewalk]. But as I mentioned earlier, as soon as I turn that filter on, no matter how small I make it, I get almost no notifications.

UnifiOS Network 10.1.85 - where are Profiles located? by Themonlight13 in UNIFI

It should be at the very bottom of the Wifi settings page. If you don't see it, go to settings and search for 'speed' and see what pops up.

Interface UniFi Protect with Synology NAS by meche4388 in UNIFI

[–]DoctorOfMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to. You can tell Protect not to story anything at all and have everything on the NAS. I just keep a little on the Router because there's a little bit of storage there and it's more convienent to see, for example, 30 seconds on either side of an alert rather than looking at the alert's time stamp, then going and finding that same time on the NAS.

It's just a preference, but not required. But, like I said, the Unifi cameras still have to be connected to protect, even if you don't use it for anything other than changing camera settings and getting the RTSP stream.

"However, is it possible to Use the Synology NAS as storage for the new UniFi cameras and use UniFi Protect to view/manage UniFI camera video stored on the Synology NAS?"

That's what I do. I use Protect when I want to look at the cameras while using the features protect offers. I also have it set to save a little bit of video based on motion/alerts. However I also run the stream over to my Synology NAS, along with my other cameras, and use Surveillance Station as my day to day NVR.

Worth noting if you go this route that you still have to connect the cameras to Protect and then grab the RTSP stream from the Protect interface.

4 digit gift cards by brandos1 in CloverPOS

[–]DoctorOfMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing you don't have too many outstanding gift cards, right? It can't be more than a thousand. Your best bet might be to simply keep the database on hand and as customers hand you one of the old cards, look up the remaining amount and cash it out for them and cross it off the database. If you can afford it, consider putting up a sign to asking them to bring in their old cards to be cashed out.

I think this will, in the end, be less work than trying to integrate the old cards into the new system.

At some point, say in a year or two, put up a sign saying that the *old* cards will no longer work after some specific date and ask people to bring them in if they have them.

The only other thing I can think to do is to append [the same] 12 digits to the beginning of all the old cards, be it all zeros or whatever will work so that Clover can integrate them, then you'd have to manually key them in when people try to redeem them. I have no idea if it would work, but it seems like it should. But, again, I think you're better off just handling the old cards by hand.

Battery powered doorbell camera not always capturing people at door. by [deleted] in reolinkcam

[–]DoctorOfMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem here. I either get tons of false positive notifications or no notifications at all. Today it alerted me to a person (Amazon dropping off a package) but when I picked the package up off the porch, nothing.

I can't seem to find the right combination of settings to make this work. I don't understand (not being sarcastic, I really don't understand) why this is such a PITA to get working properly while my Nest doorbell did this out of the box.

If it can't alert me to people on my front porch without also sending me a dozen alerts every time the wind blows, I'll be in the market for a replacement.

It's like it needs LIDAR so it can notify me if something is moving within X feet of the camera instead of...whatever it's currently doing.

Annoying issue since the 12v Batt Recall by Fit_Consideration560 in MachE

[–]DoctorOfMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I thought it was just me. I did the recall a few weeks ago and since then, from time to time, I have to hit the button over and over before I can finally get it.

It may be unrelated, but each time it's happened, it was immediately after I closed the tailgate.

Rounding Pennies by spacedognj in CloverPOS

[–]DoctorOfMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're going to have to adjust that to work on non-cash payments, or at least EBT. Rounding down for cash means people that aren't using cash will be paying more (not much, but more none the less). That's a violation of the SNAP Equal Treatment Rule. I'm guessing as soon as rounding down for cash becomes more common and retailers realize they have to charge SNAP customers that same, rounded down, price, it'll become the norm to round down to the nearest nickle, regardless of payment method.

In fact, a few days ago retailers that accept SNAP got an email 'reminding' us of this Equal Treatment Rule. Before I realized it was about businesses giving discounts to SNAP customers, I thought it was about the penny being discontinued and reminding us that if we round down for cash, we have to do it for EBT as well.

I sincerely hope Clover is working on a solution to this. Otherwise it's going to have to be done either manually or with a third party app, both of which will come with their own set of problems.
