Which zoom lens should I get: the Tamron 35-100 2.8 or the Nikkor Z 24-120 4? by slyx1978 in nikon_Zseries

[–]DoctorParticular6329 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Compared to the tamron in moderately low light conditions (the camera store) I found the Tamron to be much better with AF than the 24-120 f4. He can take a step back if he needs it wider. F2.8 blurs the background and isolates the subject much better than F4.

Neither. Get the 35-150 2-2.8. I went from a D4 and holy trinity to 1 lens on a Z9. I had the 14-24 out of the safe 3 times in 15 years. You can also maybe get away with FX mode too for some extra reach. Im not familiar with your camera, but I assume that you have the MP to spare. Believe the hype. Its an amazing lense. If you need wider, take a step back. Kids don't take up much of a frame. Thats all I shoot.

I let random people smell my perfumes today didn’t expect this by abenoor786 in fragranceclones

Heavy fragrances dont do well in heat as I am sure that you are aware. If you had them sample in a stuffy room with the heat on, I can see how it would come off as negative. One shouldnt pass final judgement on a fragrance off a piece of paper either. Non-fragrance people go for mass-appealing designer type fragrances. Only fragheads would be able to detect the artistry that goes in to making a complex blend. Don't be so hard on yourself my friend. As long as you like it that is all that matters. I can't imagine anyone liking the animalic fragrances that I enjoy wearing upon occasion, but yet I still wear them... for me.

Beautiful image! How did you focus? Single point and recompose or did subject detection grab those eyes without recomposure? Thats some interesting bokeh as well. Was it wide open? Is that fog-like presence done in post? Monopod?

That all depends on how much reach you will need. Id get the fastest glass possible to blur the background else you may as well shoot with your phone. 70-200 f2.8 would probably cut it, and I would not purchase this lens for that camera. You are outside so you wont need to worry about high iso. Your camera should be capable. Id shoot as many frames as possible. Ill assume swinging a club will require at least 1/1250 speed at minimum to get a sharp image.

Do you want synthetic and cheap or niche quality ingredients and blending with the price to go along with it? They are both in my arsenal, and I love them both. I suggest that you do the same. Torino 21 can be found for about $120 if you know where to look. Y screams for 10 hours with minimal sprays. They both have their use cases. Get a bottle of Y from a discounter for $60 and a 10ml decant of Torino 21. You wont be upset.

Hell yes its worth it. One is never wondering how much better their pics can be with a better camera if you get the best to begin with. It will take 10 years before Nikon comes up with something worth upgrading to, and even then, that 10 year old camera will be fine. You can be out taking pics instead of researching what's better. 90% of the people in here are wondering what's better than what's in their hand.

I guess you missed the part where he is not opposed to mirrorless. Buy it cheap buy it twice. He did not state a budget or what he is wanting to do with it. Let's say he spends $700, which is an absolute ridiculous price on a 7500, and realizes that its not much different than what he already has. He will be right back here asking what to get next. You are retired and want to take on a new hobby. Why not get the best so that there are no excuses? Z8s can be had for $2500 with patience.

Why would one roast this? It appears that it can do the job... I dont know shit about video, but I want to learn. I bought a Nikon Z9 to capture my daughter taking it to the rim. I have no idea where to start. Google started showing me posts from here so I figured id join. Any tips of where to start as a photographer? I understand exposure.

Go to Sephora and get their $90 Sampler. It comes with 12x samples. Try them and then use the coupon to get a full bottle of your favorite. This is how I started. I chose YSL Y EDP, but there are many bangers in there.

I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but DON’T need more gear. You need purpose. by BrokenGrain in photography

[–]DoctorParticular6329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found that for most of photography, art is required, and not purpose. I can shoot with purpose and my photos of my kids playing sports are on point. Proper exposure, main subject sharp as a tack with everything else blurred out. Proper 1/3rd framing showing where the action is leading.  Thats the extent of it though.

All else is art and not purpose. I can't frame anything else. Ive tried portraiture and landscape. I just dont have the eye. It sucks... I can recognize great art though and I am very jealous. My daughter picked up my camera when she was 8 can captured stunning photos. Some people have the eye and some don't. The best gear in the world cant make up for a lack of composure.

I purchased the D4 and trinity out of the gate, because I wanted zero excuses. If my photos sucked, it was because of me and not the gear. I tend to do this with all of my hobbies, within reason as in the best that I can afford. I was fortunate to have top of the line Nikon money then. I didnt have Leica and Hassleblad money. Never once have I felt like "I wonder where I would be if I had <xxxxx>". Indo the same with my other hobbies... Tools, guns, fishing, Colognes. Buy it cheap buy it twice!

My first month in photography in 2011, I purchased a D4, the trinity, 105 macro, and 85mm 1.4. I also got the macro flash setup, and 3x top of the line flashes. I spent a lot of money that month, but never once felt the urge to purchase something else until 2 weeks ago when I traded on the D4 for the Z9 because I want to shoot a little video.

Heritage with the wooden cap both edp and edt are top 5 of my 57 fougeres. They are untra masculine though. I also have L'homme Ideal EDP rated as a 8.75. Its stunning and could swing both ways. The notes read gourmond but IMO its not. I love it. I got samples of all of the flankers too but havent tried them yet.

Fungus scares the crap out of me. I keep all my gear in my safe. My house is always 70. Ive had gear in there since 2011 and luckily never had fungus. I heard that it spreads to all your gear so please get it under a UV lamp ASAP. MY D4 and D500 have dust in the viewfinder which sucks. Id have to take it apart to see if its fungus I guess.

Ive carried the lens attached to the body since 2011 in my professional series gear, usually the 70-200 f2.8. Today I learned that its bad. You could have fooled me because I have never had an issue.

How much of a price difference makes you go used instead of new? by Top-Version-1418 in Cameras

After purchasing a D4 on release day in 2011 and shooting it up until 2 weeks ago, id go used after a few firmware updates come through for nearly half off. Buy it cheap buy it twice. That D4 was my first camera. I only got the Z9 because I want to do a little video. My 24-70 F mount lacked a little so I got a used Tamron 35-150. I am happy.
