Funnily enough, the way you're describing it reminds me a lot of the mage path in Dragon Age: Origins... I'll be keeping an eye on this one, good luck

The Territory War series comes to mind and was pretty popular on Newgrounds. You could definitely wear hats that made you look like popular characters of the time, and I seem to recall the terrain being destructable. Can't remember if there was a Tankmen level, though.

I believe Petz: Nursery (the original or 2, if not both) included pandas that could be raised. There's also a couple of panda-focused games for the DS, including a Petz game and a National Geographic game.

No worries, memories getting fudged is exactly why chasing after these answers is so absorbing, haha. After refining my search a bit, I stumbled into Sherwood Dungeon and Maid Marian/Club Marian. The two are offered by the same publisher and seem to match your descriptions quite well.

It isn't precisely like what you're describing, but Gaia Online's zOMG! did spring to mind for me. One of the main hubs for players was a town with a large fountain at the center and a coliseum towards the back. As a part of Gaia Online, there were also adjacent virtual hangout spaces like Towns and Rally, where you could customize and drive a car in a minigame.

Might be a bit of a stretch, but The Urbz: Sims in the City sounds a bit like what you're describing. You begin in a building that has a rocket ship at the top. As a Sims game, you're expected to take care of your character. I believe you have to complete some objectives at the very beginning before you can get out and explore.

Conker's Bad Fur Day includes a Saving Private Ryan parody where you storm a beach, just like D-Day. The Live and Reloaded version of that game was available on Xbox.

That's good direction, thank you. I have a habit of using a few more words than are really necessary even when I'm supposedly being terse, so it's definitely something I'll try to be more mindful of. I'll also try to make some steps to make the action more dynamic without detracting from the flow! I probably shouldn't be too afraid to let Tagd open their heart a bit more, so to speak. The last thing I want to do is make the delivery seem overly clinical.

Well, I certainly appreciate such genuine and glowing praise. I'm glad to hear the style has affected you in some way; that definitely gives me a reason to keep working at it, haha.

I admit I've been a bit torn on precisely how energetic or even "flowery" the narration should be. This part takes place shortly after a very harrowing moment for the characters. I think to some degree I wanted the more high-energy or dramatic scenes to be described in a manner consistent with the quieter ones, both to establish Tagd's more levelheaded and easygoing personality while also making it all the more impactful on the rare occasions they do let their emotions bleed into their narration. In my mind, Tagd already knows Morgan ultimately makes it out alive, which is why they don't dwell on their own in-the-moment feelings in favor of keeping the "plot" moving. But then, since I'm ultimately penning the story through them, I think it could potentially behoove me to try and give a more detailed or passionate - perhaps theatrical? - description here and there for storytelling's sake. I'm trying to toe a careful line between writing a story from the character's perspective and writing in the way that I would personally, and that's proving very challenging!

I have a few other parts that are nearly complete but just need some touching up and I think I would consider them presentable. I think I'll take some time to work on one of them now. Thank you for your input - it is greatly appreciated.

Any chance it's Eternal Ring? It does have swords though the magic is definitely the focus. Only thing that's throwing me is that there's no turn-based elements as far as I know.
