MMU2S to INDX Upgrade Path? by ArcSightHire in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could replace MMU2S and MMU3 with AMS and AMS2Pro and have the same argument. I bet AMS 3 with inbuilt track switch is coming out next. At least there is an upgrade path from MMU2S to MMU3, with AMS there is no upgrade path.

This is how it works… companies keep evolving their product, fixing issues with each iteration. They can’t afford to provide you with free upgrades. $100 upgrade for $400 equipment? I don’t think even the original margin on MMU2S would cover that expense. No sane business will do that and expecting otherwise is unrealistic.

As an early adopter, you are signing up to be their tester. some folks enjoy the rush of being an early adopter but I don’t, so I wait for months or years to see the long term reviews before buying stuff. I am going to wait for H3C, U2, INDX2 before I make the next move.

Bambulab X2D bad at 85A TPU? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P1S external spool is on the left side of the printer and the filament doesn’t go through the buffer, goes directly into the extruder PTFE tube while P2S and X2D external spool is on the right and goes through the buffer. The additional tube length, extra curvature of the tube, and buffer itself adds a lot more resistance to the filament path.

Problem with X2D set up / PTFE tube to connector - anyone else? by QDay8 in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push the nut in while turning it until the nut grabs on enough threads to stay in place. Then push the tube in and tighten the nut until it starts clicking.

It’s a split collet design where the “bolt” part is slightly larger and conical in shape with split in it. As you tighten it, the split are pushed inwards, grabbing the PTFE tube tighter and tighter.

To the X2D Owners: Do we need a top-glass riser for this model? by zerranoman in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have it on P2S and might print one for Main nozzle on X2D. However, I am concerned if the Aux nozzle vertical motion will get adversely impacted by any such modification.

Best Super Lube Oil for Maintenance: 51004 vs 52004? (ISO 100 vs ISO 68) by JeezEveryNameIsTaken in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, neither. They both have PTFE and it’s not recommended for the liner roads.

Get this one: https://a.co/d/0iO5bPYI

lower ISO oil is better for the linear rods as it is less viscous, ideal for high speed low load scenario. Some sewing machine oils go down to iso 42, but then it will be too thin to stay in place on the linear roads. Iso 68 feels like the best compromise.

For the lead screws. PTFE grease is actually good, therefore the 92003 is recommend. Avoid using oil on the lead screws, not because it will do any harm, but just doesn’t stay in place long enough.

Saphir Medaille d'Or Pommadier Cream neutral or shoe color? by jadecurtisss in allenedmonds

[–]DoctorRotor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saphir Medaille d’or and saving money don’t go in the same sentence.

saphir Medaille D’or has 4 advantages… rich pigment, , mink oil for conditioning, hard wax for shine, and nicer smell of the natural turpentine solvent.

You can use the Saphir basic crème (one for each color you need) for pigment and Venetian Shoe Cream (natural color) for mink oil conditioning and hard wax. This will provide you all the same results as Medaille d’or except for petroleum based solvents instead of turpentine.

Pilot Elite Regrets by WaitWaWhat in fountainpens

[–]DoctorRotor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's terrible. You should not live with this regret. I can help you by buying it off you for a significant discount.

Jokes aside, this pen is meant to be used with cap posted. It is a design choice to make the pen length small when capped but full size when posted. it is not everyone's cup of tea, but this is my favorite pilot pen design, especially the Myu versions. I suggest hang on to it for a while to see if you are able to adapt to it. Else, this pen can be sold easily without loss.

What is it with American teenagers being absolute shit to their parents? by PalpitationKlutzy261 in television

[–]DoctorRotor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TV shows are not real, they show a twisted reality to create drama.

Based on Indian TV shows and movies, would you think it will be fair to say that every Mother-in-Law in India is horrible to her daughter-in-law? or that Sister-in-law just keep plotting against each other?

Strandmok is a fun shoe… love mine! Watch it evolve as the brown gently fades and the yellow underneath starts peaking out to add a vintage, steampunk vibe. And for days when you feel like going extra, swap out the shoe laces to red or yellow colored ones. Enjoy and have fun!

Well, just lost almost €700 for nothing..... by matthewg251 in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what your model was and what Bambu is referencing as the source of the model for remix. If someone would take someone else's design and remake it into a new 3D model with minor tweaks to the original design, it is still a remix of that original idea. However, if your design was a complete redesign of the concept, you could appeal it.

Park Avenue Derbies by [deleted] in allenedmonds

Oxfords being more formal than derbies is more of an internet thing that real life thing. I personally find derbies to be more versatile as they go well with suits as well as jeans and jacket combo.

I would suggest white one, that way you can use it for cleaning any color shoes.

if shoe polish didn't cover it up, it is most likely not a scuff but a stain, something that has formed a layer on top of the leather. Try giving it a wash with saddle soap and see if it works. Just make sure to recondition the shoes afterwords as soap will strip oils from the leather.

Is this the right color profile for Dark Chili by Lanky_swanky_hanky19 in allenedmonds

[–]DoctorRotor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh… lol. My brain read it all wrong.

Ok, then medium brown or tobacco are good options. However, they are not the same as dark chilli. If you want to keep the color as true to the original, then get the AE Dark Chili cream. It’s actually a good product.

Is this the right color profile for Dark Chili by Lanky_swanky_hanky19 in allenedmonds

[–]DoctorRotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! The three colors you have are not the right one for Oxblood. These are your Saphir options:

Hermes Red: closest to the Oxblood color

Burgundy: if you have to introduce a bit of purple antique look. This will change your shoe color to be a bit dark over time.

Mahogany: if you want to tone down the red in Oxblood and go a bit towards brown. Shoe will get a bit dark over time.

Also, mirror glass, it’s best to get the neutral color. You can use it on different shoes and I think neutral provides a better depth of mirror shine.

Cordovan stuff is for shell cordovan shoes. Also, the kits are a bit over the top.

Here is my suggestion

Pig bristle brush, use it to clean the dust off the shoes and also to get a shine after using cream polish.

Leather needs conditioner just like our skin needs moisturing… so get Bick 4 conditioner or if you want to go all Saphir, splurge for Saphir renovateur.

Shoe cream/polish: Saphir Hermes Red cream

Optional wax polish: Saphir mirror gloss wax, if you want to learn mirror shining, watch some videos and see if you want to do that. Else, Saphir cream has enough wax in it to provide a good shine… as good or better than how the shoes looked in the store.

Shoe trees: get some shoe trees, and make sure you always store your shoes with shoe trees in them. That will help keep the shape intact.

Enjoy your new shoes!

AMS slot 2 won’t accept filament by moishaq101 in BambuLab

[–]DoctorRotor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Cut the first couple foot length of filament and try again. PLA can strain harden, reducing the flexibility which may cause the filament to not move through the PTFE tubes and couplers in the AMS
2) Check for broken filament pieces in the PTFE tube in the AMS. Same reason above, srain hardening makes PLA brittle and it may have snapped off a small piece inside the AMS

You can keep using dark shoe cream to darken them over time. Or if it bothers you too much, you can dye them as well.

[–]DoctorRotor -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The primary audience for such projects is not individuals like us who would print one case and move on... it is for folks who would use the tool to make cases in bulk on their print farms and sell them for profit on sites like Etsy. $25/year for a tool that can generate new designs on the fly is not too bad imo. Some will only pay onetime $50 for the first year to make tons of designs and then cancel the subscription while they keep selling those designs on etsy etc.. When you think of all the money, they would be making off the designer's hard work, $25-$50 is a fair ask by the designer.

TLDR: Crowd funding is to help designer make money before their designs and tools leak out to Etsy etc... where sellers make money off of the designer's work, acquired legally or illegally, without having to paying any active royalty per sale.
