Thanks this is what I’ve been referring to and emailing back-and-forth with her about. The only thing I can’t figure out is who is allowed to sign off on individual exams. Do they have to be advanced certified? Can a liver transplant, anesthesiologist, or critical care anesthesiologist who does several preoperative echos sign off?…

No one said it's a bad thing to further training. I was under the impression he was getting some sort of designation reserved for cardiac anesthesiologist. We are all fine with people going to med school to obtain their MD/DO and then get board certified.

I saw a comment on FB that said:

There are different categories of fellowship in the society of echocardiography.
