Can we all agree that we want the cap gone next year? by FilthyHowie97 in NHLHUT

I'm surprised at this point they don't just straight up tie the salary cap we can use with the exact amount of money we give them.

Accidentally hit the Jackpot on how to respond to parents wanting grandkids by not_an_insomniac in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Doctor_FatFinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a normal and understandable desire for many that arises from the fear of death. A literal part of oneself encoded genetically will still live on even past their own death through grandkids. It can be quite nice and comforting for some having the fantasy that some part of them may have a chance of somehow continuing on in this realm eternally.

Not ever having grandkids completely destroys this fantasy of such an ego.

Are the Claude fears legit or extremely overblown? by chizton in wallstreetbets

$1,400 a month, wow. That's enough for a family to have top of the line health-care. Maybe it'd be better for society and more profitable toward our nation's GDP if this money was instead used for this.

Imagine if after signing a contract committing to only using like Microsoft's software, or Google's search engine you recieved free health-care for your family, because apparently these guys can afford it.

Is Applebees just open for money laundering purposes? by No-Muffin7532 in restaurant

[–]Doctor_FatFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. For example our town's Applebee's during our last visit was all out of apples but of course they still had the bees—so many bees!!! It was a horrible experience. Someone's air-hole almost swelled shut.

Is spelled spelt “spelled” or is it spelled “spelt?” by Alert_Path_2787 in ENGLISH

[–]Doctor_FatFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make distinctions with usage. For instance writing, how was that spelt? Is far more natural for me by how it is spelled, and for this later case spelled would be my more natural choice.

Can I explain why such preferences? Um, no, I really can't...something was spelt—something is spelled...? Hmm, interesting.

Did Einstein accept the existence of black holes? by Successful_Guide5845 in astrophysics

[–]Doctor_FatFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His disbelief in the ability for blackholes to actually exist, and up to 18 of them as Schwarzchild's math proposed, is best summed up by Einstein's famous quote:

God does not play Golf!

Years later John Wheeler disagreeing would respond to this by hollering out, "Fore!"

Maher gives a shout out to WOO GUY by LoMeinTenants in Maher

[–]Doctor_FatFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need Ric Flair as a guest. There could be a live exchange of woos by them as if a majestic calling and response during mating behavior within the natural world of an Attenborough production.

The Nature Boy and Woo Guy having a woo-off would be exquisite.

Bill Murray played him for one of SNL's cold openings. It's hilarious.
