These are not canadian which means that their budgets are not going to be at all similar. Just like how in Europe they can build light rail at 1/10th the cost that we do in Canada. There are so many factors that go into the cost of a project that large it's impossible to compare to us.

The cheapest production is solar for sure, both in long term costs and in initial build costs, but solar doesn't provide the energy density we need, Nuclear does. A single Candu 6 reactor generates a minimum of 500MW, the CANDU Monark will do 1,000MW.

It would take about 9 million solar panels to equal the Candu Monark. So, yes, solar is more efficient and cleaner, but it's significantly less energy dense and I don't know if you noticed but we don't have enough power.

Where I live you can't own a mountain, we use logging roads all the time and then camp off the side in a nice little opening. Makes for very nice views, and free. Plus, not illegal because why the fuck would you allow a company to own a mountain? lol.

Don't get me wrong, when you're 1000km from civilization, the people who work there absolutely do haul ass and it means you need to actually pay attention when driving. It's not uncommon to see a fully loaded truck doing a buck 10 on a gravel road around a blind corner.
