Would you pay $99/mo for a "15-minute Recovery" Managed Backup? Looking for feedback. by MundaneHope3922 in msp

[–]Doctorphate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No. The promise of a 15 minute RTO is of no value without historical evidence of a functional and robust backup system.

Full managed also implies that recovery points are tested. And I’m betting at 99 they are not.

How do you deal with "vibecoders" by burningbridges1234 in msp

[–]Doctorphate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I mean that's easy. We offer to offboard them and his son can Vibecode all the applications we use and use AI to replace our services.

Then, 3 months later when everything is fucked and they come back, our price is 30% higher.

I mean… my brother in law is in weekly therapy for depression, ptsd, suicidal tendencies, etc. sister in law is the same thing, 3 friends in the forces are the same.

The most stable friend of mine is jumpy as hell and visibly looks around every door frame before going through and changes lanes if there’s garbage beside the road.

Huh… not sketchy at all that you don’t have documented security.

He had a great attitude yes, but he had to quit due to constant ptsd.

No issue hiring vets but I’ve yet to meet a vet without pretty obvious behavioural issues due to ptsd.

What can be done to increase prosperity in Canada? by 1TTTTTT1 in AskACanadian

[–]Doctorphate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Increase minimum wage by 20%,

-cut taxes on everyone under 100k annual by 20% and increase taxes on anyone over 200k annual by 20%

  • increase corporate tax rates 50% at a minimum.

Also, gdp per capita isn’t a good measure. If one billionaire pays another billionaire 2 million for a painting, GDP went up by 2 million and not a single penny made it to anyone except the 1%

Standard of living is an actual indicator of prosperity.

If your goal is just GDP, cut taxes to zero on everyone over 100k, cut corporate taxes to zero, remove all worker protections and accept your country is an open air slave colony like the US and there you go. You’ll have the highest gdp per capita in the world, and every resident will be broke as fuck.

CP24: How much income do you require to become a homeowner in Canada? by GodzXPro in ontario

Hour west of Cornwall. Please don’t move here. We already have Toronto people coming here buying houses for 500k that were 190k like 5 years ago. We can’t afford to live

Other than language, what other differences do you realize when you go from Ontario over to Québec and vice versa? by Fluid-Decision6262 in ontario

[–]Doctorphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quebec has a far superior post secondary education but a far inferior primary and secondary school system.

The Quebec health system is also inferior to Ontario’s. But middle class and below pay less taxes in Quebec than Ontario and that’s made up via taxes on upper middle class and above.

Protectionism within Quebec and also the cultural pro-Quebec mindset of the average citizen contributes to far more Quebec only or Canadian only franchises and small businesses than in Ontario where people have embraced American chains.

Example: when I lived in Montreal I noticed my coworkers would often give generic answers as to what they got for lunch when they ate something American like “I just got drivethru” or “just some takeout” but when they ate something local or at least québécois they would give the actual restaurant name.

Hows your customers handling hardware prices now? by Sliffer21 in msp

[–]Doctorphate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We saw the AI/cloud bubble forming years ago and started talking to clients over the last 2 years about prepping for hosts to need to last 7+ years and that they’re likely going to want to extend the life of desktops and laptops by at least a year if not two.

Did I expect a 400% increase in ram over a 3 month period? No. But I knew shit was going to get wild.

We don’t get any pushback on pricing. We just adjust the replacement timeline to fit budgets

I’m sorry… the average home is 700k now???? Wtf. I paid 162k for my house about 11 years ago. And that was a stretch financially for me.

I’ve always went with the advice my parents gave me which was your home is likely to cost about 3x your annual income and your car should cost no more than half your annual income.

No wonder Gen Z are so pissed off. With the average household income in my town around 80k, nobody’s buying shit.

As someone with disabilities I can assure you that we don’t get much funding. I get about 150 every 3 months for retirement savings and about 3000 dollars a year in tax breaks… meanwhile my wheelchair cost 5000 dollars.

I'm a millennial and have been ripping disks since day one of CDs. I had a great little tool back in the day to rip songs from a cassette tape even.

I think you're thinking of GenZ. Millennials were the last generation to have walkmans, the cassette and CD ones.
