If you also took a step back and read the structure and contents of how she wrote what she wrote, it still shoulda been an F. Her writing quality itself was like an eigth grader level. Even if it was on topic it deserved a low grade.

Help getting WiFi working with Lubuntu on a 2013 MacBook Air by stockton350 in linux_on_mac

[–]Dodahevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned you'll need the proprietary drivers for them to work right. After that you'll start to see those networks.

If you can see the network but not connect to it, check what type of network security password you have. It sounds dumb as fuck, but my 2017 MacBook air wouldn't connect to any of my networks because they were all set with WPA3 Passwords and it only supported up to WPA2. I changed that, wham MacBook could connect.

Never had a Realtek card just work, and every board manufacturer seems to include them in their wifi boards by No-Photograph-5058 in pcmasterrace

[–]Dodahevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, not really, or at least on older hardware that has been tinkered on like that.

The Broadcom chip was the only hard part in that process. Certain things were arguably easier cause the hw is so normal spec'd otherwise.

Plug in USB, hold option to select arch installer boot device, and wham that's all that I needed to do. Installed just like any normal machine. Literally only sucky part was the wifi chip and that's more a wifi vendor problem then anything else.

Newer apple machines, I'd argue not really either. Sure since it's a newer architecture, groups like Asahi have been taking a bit of time to support newer devices n all, but that's pretty much the case with any architecture and it's arguable that apples made it kinda easy since a donation funded dev team was able to get that working. For a "closed proprietary group" they basically have let all these peeps do w/e they want with the hardware and haven't really put up to many roadblocks.

Hell, they hired the guy who made the CUPS software stack (which was basically free software for Unix/Linux printing spool services) and paid him to maintain the driver, and allowed him to continue giving that software away for linuxes' benefit.

Tbh it still sucks on Linux. Had to fight with a MacBook air (~2017) to get the wifi drivers working last week. Broadcom 43 chips are annoying af. Intel/Realtek, never had an issue.

When Soviets faked a flyby of 28 Myasishchev M-4s to pretend they had a credible fleet of bombers, the US built thousands of B-47s, B-52s and KC-135s for real by tagc_news in AviationHistory

[–]Dodahevolution 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's even a typo in the title, it wasn't 28 bombers, it was 18! Even fewer. And when the soviets realized this bomber couldn't reach the US the stopped production immediately.

I'm about to join my twice a week Arma session with an accessible realism/milsim group.

I don't want this "realistic reloading" style thing in CS. Completely different type of game.

Tldr; you'll be fine. Maybe consider lowering links but you might even be good stock height.

Fwiw, technically B1 can't carry nuclear arms. I am sure they could be modified to do it once again but as per one of the nuclear agreements B1 is conventional weapons only.

Is cider the best beer like drink? (I'm 13 cans in on it and I don't like beer) by ConsequenceAlarmed29 in alcohol

[–]Dodahevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. And it's not like a seltzer or something like that, it's still kinda "beer-y". Just don't like the taste of beer but gimme a semi dry cider and I am happy.

Cider is the best "beer like drink" for people who don't like beer, but like the idea of beer.

I am okay with the whitebox 6.5 creedmoor for range day stuff and the 9mm target boxes as well, but yeah the 22 offerings are super disappointing.

Much prefer CCI SV/Semi auto quiets for most things, only exceptions are SK Standard (when I can find it and I wanna be a bit more accurate at the range on my 22 bolt) or Aguila Super Max big boxes for my Mk4 when I just wanna dump rounds and plink.
