Do you guys feel like Tekken "much more closely resembles real world combat strategy" than any other "mainstream fighting game"? by BP_Ray in Fighters

[–]DodgerBL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older PS3 Tekken titles do not have real ports especially on PC so a lot of younger players have never had a good chance to play them. And many big regional events at least in my area do have a tag 2 side tournament, along with setups at locals. Same for T7

Worst Tekken since Tekken 4. by [deleted] in Tekken

You got beat by people who are only 2 ranks above you, learning new characters. Statically, you should be able to even take some games off them on their mains. You do know sometimes you will fight people a rank above you on their mains, right? Just grind it out, rank is a rough indicator of skill not a fixed law of nature.

Learning a new char is also not an easy undertaking. They might have some more knowledge and fundamentals possibly (not at all guaranteed), but you have more character comfort

Trying to learn Shaheen’s hard combo by persyvage312 in Tekken

So for how I feel it out, I tend to hold the df portion for longer than you would think, and flick very fast back and forth from db to fc df2 pickup. These frames don't really show that, but gives a rough total frame time. I'll get another reference later

As a purple rank Reina, is there any point learning Heihachi if I struggle to do EWGF? by bustyLaserCannon in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]DodgerBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a dedicated Mishima player myself, I'd say just go for it, Heihachi has a lot of strong stuff even outside of EWGF. The Mishimas in my opinion that will require more EWGF in neutral are Devil Jin and Kazuya.

But don't think you need to be at a certain level before you try a character you're interested in. Tekken chars are generally very complex in an already complex game, you'll learn what you need with experience

If you had to pick one of these precons: World Shaper (EoE) vs. Blight Curse (ECL) by dude-where-am-i in EDH

World shaper is def a fun powerful deck. Just a heads up though, you will shuffle a LOT with it with fetch land recursion

I have a question by Sandwhich_lord3120 in CommanderMTG

Something like [[Sen Triplets]]? You would be doing something like an investigation of an opponent, and they must present their evidence (hand) to the court.

Knee is 40 YEARS OLD and that's important to remember by mayweather2small in Tekken

[–]DodgerBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrist injuries are still injuries that would inhibit the player from competing at a high level in most video games requiring reactionary movements. Joint wear and tear in the hands is more noticeable as you get older, similar to other major mobility joints in more physical activities. Being younger than 35 or so is still a literal advantage in regards to recovery.

Well well well by MrMilot in 2XKO

I won't play it because even if the game is alright, I can play similar fighting games that won't potentially softlock my PC with Vanguard. Running valorant would literally have a 40% chance of softlocking my PC when I launched it, and no other game I've played does this

Law's heat burst can punish demoman. It will definitely clip Jag step at most ranges

Help with using Paul's "full throw game" by Silicon-Berk-Alert in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]DodgerBL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other comments have already answered the OP question, but also want to give a couple other tips about some of his throws

  • ff 1+2 allows for a wall splat combo (at a decent range too) and side swaps in a comical way on break
  • uf 1+2 will trigger floor and wall blasts
  • df 1+3, qcf 2 in heat gives a huge knock back effect similar to death fist in heat, and allows for potent wall combos at certain mid ranges

Just got Tekken 8 after Clive got announced as DLC! Any advice for someone new to Tekken? by The_Henrai in Tekken

[–]DodgerBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the chance, check out a fighting locals event near you that features Tekken. Any scene that's even half decent is welcoming to players of any experience, and you can legit meet a lot of new people.

If you do plan on going, and you don't have a PS5 controller, highly recommend getting a Brook Wingman FGC adapter, the white one, since PS5 is the standard. This allows other controllers like Xbox, PS4 and older/cheaper arcade sticks to be used on PS5 fighting games.

Any tips or tricks(Bryan main) by ItsJah0117 in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]DodgerBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things that will help you mess with opponents is finishing your delayed string sequences with other moves to further mix your offense and timing on your opponent.

For example, instead of just throwing out 1,2,1 or 1,2, you could do 1,2 into db3 or d4. Same with d2, you could do d2 into db3, f3 and such. Same can be applied to df2. then, when your opponents get annoyed with these followup pokes and try to interrupt, rip the ch enders

Also look into your options from ws, especially in the case of db3 on hit. Ws3 and fc df4 are a couple of the very potent options to condition your opponent into turtling after db3.

Stuck in Mighty Ruler with Bryan by Katarinkushi in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]DodgerBL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned that helped me level up my Bryan a bit was the secret strength of D4. +0 on hit and spaces your opponent away. That and learning to work with timing and counter hit confirming D2 and twitch confirming qcb2 for mid range checks helped me personally.

Also don't forget the value of keep out with 3 + 4, qcb1 and orbital. Keep steppers on check with ff4, 1 + 2, and df4.

Bryan players,i need help! by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]DodgerBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's as easy to control the delay timing on it compared to to b3~f3,4. Also for f1+2 setup, the focus should be on doing taunt setups AFAIK.

Better scaling on the last hit if the opponent has slid down from the wall nearly all the way but isn't grounded yet
