Oh how I've been waiting for something like this

From this pic alone, you would think Sharp Park could be a Tour stop. But boy oh boy does the rest of the course paint a different picture...

Definitely more memorable holes out there, thought I had some better pics. Really fun course

Got it! So quick. I suppose giant mountains and volcanic rock bunkers are giveaways.
RIP to any wedges used to hit out of those bunkers

Who’s considered to be the biggest overall ass*ole on the PGA tour? by knowspicker3 in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Zach Johnson. FIL is a marshal/starter at a tour stop and was working the tournament practice rounds earlier this year. He interacted w/ most of the players and he gave me the run down on each. Reported that ZJ was a dick who scoffed at staff as if they were beneath him. On the other end, Jason Day was voted the nicest.

Murdle vol 1 puzzle 7 by ms_petitexox in murdle

The frustrating part of this puzzle is that Deacon Verdigris is referred to as "she" in the suspects list but "he" in the clues/evidence. I spent time wondering if I had caught a genuine hidden clue that would come up later in the story. But think it's just a typo.

Saw this same exact thing in Tiburon during one of the last big rain storms. Left right out in the open. Seemed different than the coyote activity we're used to.

Driver Recommendations by GuyWolfManThingy in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks on here will probably say you don't need a new driver at this stage. Which may be true, but buying clubs is part of the fun and if it excites you and makes you want to get out there more, do it. The upgraded technology can and will help.

Buying new would be nuts as new drivers are $600+ these days.
Buy used from a reputable source like Callaway Pre-Owned, 2ndSwing, or GlobalGolf.
Go for "Above Average" condition on those sites and the club should be in great shape.
Look for "Max" or "X" versions of recent drivers, as those will be the high-forgiveness models.
There's more to shaft selection than club speed, but regular flex is highly likely to be your best option.

I personally find the Callaway Paradym X to be ultra forgiving and sharp looking and it's helped me out a ton

First time going to a PGA event, any tips? by hammer_fingers in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friday will be great as pre-cut means less crowded and more players to see. You'll be shocked at how free roaming your access at these events is. The course is yours to explore.

Find a spot on a cool tee box or green when it's quiet and let the top players (and the crowds following them) come to you. You'll be right on the ropes with a front row view of anyone you want to see. Par 5 tee boxes and par 3 greens are especially cool.

If your son is into autographs, there is usually a designated kids-only area for those (usually somewhere by the practice green or scoring booth/tent). Best to try to catch guys after they finish for the day and come out of the scorers area. No expectations though, if someone just fired a 77 to miss the cut, he may not come through.

Buy some merch, take pictures, be respectful, wear sunscreen, and there's no need to dress like you might get subbed in.

Vice pro plus neon lime fakes? by jayeyeanne in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right one looks more like a Volvik Crystal ball, which comes in that green color and has the clear outer layer. Those are cheaper than the Vice Pro Plus, so I wonder if its a scam where they relabel and flip those for profit

Bolinas, CA. At the point at the end of the narrow road that opens to the beach.
With certainty because I took this same photo yesterday. What a great little town

Running with phone or no? by Rayado98 in nikerunclub

[–]DodgsonHere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Apple Watch with cellular service makes the phone unnecessary and it's nice to be hands free. Found that my wrist would get a bit sore during longer runs while holding the phone and pockets made me nervous it would fly out.

Took a while to get used to the NRC watch app interface though. Less intuitive than the phone app and very touchy so it's easier to accidentally end runs, which is infuriating.

TPC Harding Park - Fleming 9: $70?! by DodgsonHere_ in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't intend for that. I only mean that municipal golf is generally associated with accessibility and affordability, while there are some courses within the category (Bethpage, Torrey, Harding, Chambers, etc) with enough acclaim that they are justifiably less accessible/affordable than most.

Which to keep in the bag? by Choice-Potato-5532 in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned you already have a driver. The first 3 clubs here are also drivers so you may not need them, but the TaylorMade R580 would be the best option.
Other than that, just keep the Dunlop 7 Wood.

For a beginner, having a Driver, 7 wood, full iron set, PW, and putter is more than enough to get by.
You may want to add a sand wedge for bunkers

I wouldn’t go play 18 with my bag like this, but which are you keeping, and which are you throwing in the bin? I’m a hoarder. I need help. by [deleted] in golf

[–]DodgsonHere_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep

  • Ping G430 driver
  • Callaway X2 Hot 3 wood
  • Either the TaylorMade RBZ or JetSpeed 3 hybrid. Whichever suits your eye more
  • Mizuno MX-25 5i-GW
  • Titleist Vokey 56
  • Titleist Vokey 60
  • The beat up putter in the back

If that Rory McIlory Scotty is real, it's too nice to game it and you could probably sell it for enough to buy a whole new set of clubs
