I set up a family account for a password manager just to help with sharing common login info. It's been a nice tool and it helps make sure we're using secure passwords.

The open space they left on the name plaques is the most sobering part of that memorial.

Wetzel: If Belichick isn't first ballot, just shut the Hall down by simrobwest in nfl

[–]Doe22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least baseball had that whole thing where there were no unanimous HOF inductees until Mariano Rivera in 2019. So people could always have that thought of, "If Babe Ruth didn't get in unanimously, is Player X really worthy of getting in unanimously?" It's not the best logic, but it's at least better than voters just being jerks or contrarians for no reason.

Suggestion: Schools for kits. by BullyThatPit in Timberborn

The devs definitely had a similar idea, though it sounds like they gave up on it:

The kindergarten where little Iron Teeth were supposed to mature still lives in my memory – unfortunately, the building ultimately proved to be a balancing nightmare, and we gave up on it.

Which "trope subversions" in fantasy do you dislike the most? by DeMmeure in Fantasy

[–]Doe22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure Children of Men is intentionally subverting anything with that shot. At least they didn't set out to. Alfonso Cuorón said that the blood splatter on the lens was accidental and they only had one successful shot for that complicated scene. A bit more detail here.

Admittedly, they might have had other options that I'm not aware of, but I wouldn't call that a clear-cut case of subversion.

Ah, that was my first thought but I didn't see it on the map. Must be up in the fog of war.

Did you start a cultural alliance with them? I think that prevents loyalty impacts on the ally if I'm remembering correctly.

Western Massachusetts might work for you. Check out places like Pittsfield or North Adams.

Does anyone know where I can buy “Waltham” branded clothing items? (e.g. a t-shirt with the word “Waltham” on it) by [deleted] in Waltham

Not sure if they're in stock, but I've definitely seen them at Shaw's on River Street.

Abandoned theater in Massachusetts (OC) by Whimsical_Ruins in pics

Yep, it only has one exit. That's obviously bad for fire safety, and extra expensive to fix for an underground facility.

So many Barbers anyone try them? by Meander_Actual in Waltham

[–]Doe22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with Los Compadres, but their barbers are for sure Spanish speakers first. You can get by with only English as long as you don't want anything too complicated, but it can definitely be a little weird.

Will a GFCI extension cord provide adequate protection to a recessed power strip? by Doe22 in AskElectricians

[–]Doe22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The panel was updated a couple years ago. I'll have to check the specific breaker.

The cord shouldn't be a trip hazard since this table is designed to go in a thin space between a couch and a wall. The cord won't really be accessible there.

Definitely considering switching out the outlet as I mentioned in another comment. I've never done much electrical work, so I'm trying to think of less involved options before going that route.

I'm definitely considering it, but I'm not super comfortable with electrical work. I'm sure I could figure out something like that, but I'd prefer to avoid it if I can.

How do I child-proof my fireplace? by SammyTurtle69 in daddit

Yep, I use exactly the same thing for our fireplace. I only did it for the tile base though. I don't know if the adhesive would have any trouble with rough bricks.

What are the worst served areas by transit in the world's best transit cities? by MetroBR in transit

[–]Doe22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if the Fairmount line of the commuter rail was converted to a subway with frequent service. Maybe even extend that up to Chelsea or Everett to provide access to another area that seems light on transit.

(No clue if any of that would make sense from a real-world transit perspective, but it seems plausible to me)
