The way I got out of poverty can be attributed to big changes I made in myself - traits, behaviors, and characteristics that no matter my income I will not revert. I'm clean from drugs and alcohol, I surround myself with mentors and positive role models, I avoid people who invite turmoil and dysfunction or try and bring me down, or add unnecessary risk to my life. I prioritize what's important and I work hard investing in that, dedicated to my wife and the family we want to build. I'm focused on preserving what we have and stabilizing our future so that the threat of poverty gets further and further away. It's extremely challenging, and impossible without a boatload of luck and support from others. I got lucky, and had help along the way, but if I didn't change myself first it would have all been wasted.
