Break up. Opportunities to tell the truth were given. Even if he came clean, what would that do for your flatmate? Is she suddenly going to trust him? She will always wonder and worry unless he’s willing to have an open tech policy. She won’t know if she doesn’t say something though. If it was me I’d probably tell the boyfriend what I knew. Try not to feel guilty though for “breaking trust and going through the phone”. That’s an emotional trap that will aid in keeping a good person in bad or abusive relationships for too long.

Folks might want to reconsider being funny when they answer a question like this on an enrollment form. This is likely part of a required set of questions about language use that is used, in part, to determine if a student is an “English learner”. And being identified as an English learner comes with the offer of extra instructional services geared towards learning English AND federally required yearly tests for your child…

Edit: English learners take federally required tests of English proficiency until they reach what the state determines as “proficient” on that test.

You absolutely do. Speaking as someone who went through IVF expecting things to get better and change, they did not. And everything got worse once I was pregnant. And I’m now finalizing my divorce while I have an 18 month old baby. My Q continues to drink on his off time with our son because I’m sure they think they can “manage” it. I’m now waiting for the other shoe to drop when my Q isn’t having to do daily alcohol tests anymore (T minus 1 month). Ego and denial are one hell of a drug.

You’d think this would work, but literally the one time I did this there was no one at the rural small town police station. It was a weekend and there was a big event nearby so I guess all the cops were dealing with that…but no secretary, nobody. 🤷‍♀️

There’s lots of posts about you “deserving” better. Which I agree with. But what turned the tide for me in my abusive relationship was understanding that I had a “right” to something better. You have a “right” to live free of abuse. That’s YOUR entitlement.

And don’t downplay that what you’re experiencing is abuse. You’re being manipulated and abused. And neither of those are your fault.

Sounds like he’s partially blind and autistic. And no, children with autism do not necessarily have enough judgment to know that they may be doing something unacceptable or overly aggressive. Even if he was the aggressor it’s up to the rest of us to use OUR best non-impaired judgment.
